Robin Williams improv for reporters at 2003 World Series
Seattle Times sportswriter Geoff Baker finds long-stashed audio recording of comedian Robin Williams, performing an impromptu stand-up session with reporters on field at Yankee Stadium prior to Game 1 of the 2003 World Series between the Marlins and Yankees. Some tributes on the day Williams died recalled him being an avid baseball fan and of this moment from 11 years prior, though few known recordings exist. Baker was standing directly to the left of Williams but only began recording partway into the improv, so here is the final 3 min or so. Among the better lines, his "Bone the Marlin!" rally cry for Yankee fans, subtle mocking of Marlins ace Josh Beckett and his jabs at the small Florida fan base. Not to mention poking fun at his own team, the SF Giants, and cavernous Candelstick Park before its' closure. He also takes a good-natured swipe at elderly Yankees bench coach Don Zimmer and his newfound tough guy image after his attempt to fight Pedro Martinez on the field in the ALCS at Fenway Park the prior week. The guy talking to Williams about the Marlins is former Florida scribe Mike Berardino of the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, now with the St. Paul Pioneer Press, covering the Minnesota Twins.

The terrace seats and tiger den seats offer some of the best views of the game. You can't get any better seats than those. Video does not do the park justice. It's a great place for baseball and always clean. Their staff is awesome.
