TunnelTalk - Nitrogen Management and Cover Cropping in Winter Spinach
มุมมอง 4721 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
The potential to grow greens indoors during the winter has become an exciting option to extend harvest year-round. Farmers can create a winter revenue source, retain labor and expand markets with greens through the coldest part of the year. However, the role of soil nutrients in the colder, shorter days is still not fully understood. How much nitrogen do winter greens need? Can they run on the ...

Hello If any chance I can get this information by the email PDF thanks
Oh my - you had me interested until you started talking about Roundup. You should have the food you are growing after the rye for glyphosate - bet you'll find a lot.
This is excellent, I've been looking for detail information on wild blueberry Soil and Tissue Sampling. D
I wonder what that glyphosate is doing to your health
Newfoundland has abundant materials but small farms are not being provided with support to utilize the materials that would help them increase the quality of farm products, reduce costs of production and help build soil carbon. Instead, we are being pushed aside to help large players gain access to the raw material for export supply chains. Govt and industry have even gone so far as trying to manipulate the resale policy on local farm tables to keep small farms down...a broadcast 75% resale policy was attempted on all farm tables in central NL until civil society / funders were notified of the issue.
Thank you for posting this educational video. I only have two lambs here at my homestead in northern Maine but I found it very informative. Blessings 🙏🏼

Great presentation and information!!!!
Question would be what could I put in after harvesting my garlic in July
From Caitlin Congdon, our Field Crop Specialist: There are a number of cover crops that would fit well into the window of time following garlic harvest, depending on your goals. Some examples include brown mustard if wireworm is a problem in the field, or sorghum-sudangrass if you’re looking for a high biomass cover crop to sequester carbon.
My goal is to right after harvesting garlic mid July to get a warm season cover in terminate it at the end of September then plant a cool season cover I’m just thinking what would grow fast enough to smother out weeds before terminating for the cool season cover
Does anyone oversow with Trit?
From Sonny Murray, our Berry Specialist: Both Pearl millet and Sorghum Sudan grass are going to kill at the first hard frost so in some cases it may be nice to have spring or winter triticale or winter rye establishing underneath to fill in the late fall and early spring period. The challenge would be to achieve seed to soil contact with the seed with the heavy crop residue. This could be accomplished by broadcasting and then mowing afterwards, increasing the seeding rates or using a heavy no till drill while the crop is still standing. It could be done but I do not have experience with it in practice. Keep in mind that winter rye and trit will over winter and will need to be terminated in spring before the next crop is established. Hope that helps!
The main problem with Triticale is obtaining the seed. They are just harvesting/processing the years crop when you would want to incorporate it ( assuming you want winter triticale and assuming you want to plant it with the SSG)
The information is good but the music doesn't allow your nice voice to be heard clearly.
Good
Thank you maym
I work for a municipality. Our Ordinance regulates exterior lighting by foot-candles. My question is, how do you measure a specific exterior light when there are various lights nearby from neighboring properties and street lights. I want the measurement of one light without the measurements of the other lights bleeding into the one light being measured. is that possible to do?
Roundup doesn't do a good job but a light dose of gramoxon usually works good
...still Scrumpdillyicious.
You are Scrumpdillyicious.
It very understood information for howa taking soil sample
Low Boy wins! Thanks for showing this trial. Cheers!
Thank you for you good information!
thanks, huge value for my shelf management paper
Thank you!
My humble opinion. Was sold ryegrass as highly palatable and good protein grass for heavier soils. Birds relocate seeds to other fields. Huge problems as doesn’t mature the same as companion forage. Nothing but a weed you can’t get rid of and poor forage (straw). Would never recommend anyone trying ryegrass for any reason. Way too hard dealing with consequences
Do you have a video I could refer to for HIGH/LOW deviation tests of the hardware?
which lab was the testing done?
I wonder what this is truely about, no mentions of mackerel???
Very informative! Thanks a lot!
Thank you!

Beautiful, thank you.
Did you incorporate your seed? Or just broadcast and let it grow? Thanks for sharing your experience.
