Hi Mary, great explaining. I am Zach and I am 13 and I actually narrate the bubba and squirt series. As a young kid, it is very difficult to comprehend. As I comment I am at my home studio recording this exact book! Any questions are welcome.

Gorgeous book.

This book was PAINFULLY slow and boring. The most interesting aspect of this graphic novel is trying to figure out which child the Night Librarian is referring to as “Mr.Reed” because Paige and Turner are clearly sisters. Literally nothing happens in the first 65 pages, I kid you not. This author needs to go back to his Billy Bones novels or something because this book was BRUTAL.

I agree, choose to teach better rhymes

I personally think there must be plenty of new rhymes to choose from, and many of the old ones are not worth changing in order to simply hang on to, just leave them in the past.

I was born in Holland and raised in New Zealand, so am in part, familiar with both Dutch and English nursery rhymes. When teaching our own kids I chose to avoid the controversial rhymes, but at a later date, I did discuss what I understood at the time with the kids about the rhymes.

I think a nursery rhyme can be created in-house by whom ever, and if it goes public it could become history 🙂

I think it is important to consider the child's perspective in today's time

Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Mo needs to just go away in the same way that they have renamed one of Agatha Christy's novels, from "10 Little Indians" to "Then There Were None". Just because something is traditional or old doesn't mean we need to keep it if it is no longer relevant. Worse yet if it is insulting to children in one's story time.
