November 2024 Book Club Read | Sister, Sister by Eric Jerome Dickey
In this episode, I am sharing what my book club and I decided to read for the month November. We decided to take it back and honor one of the late and great literary authors of the Black writers community. Eric Jerome Dickey is a staple and a trendsetter for his amazing gift. Though he is no longer with us, we will continue to honor him and his work through things like Book Clubs. This particular book is a treat, and I cannot wait to share it with you.

@@sunnysunshine9975 Hey there! I did not because my payments were in forbearance prior. People who received refunds had been paying for YEARS & were honored for those payments over the 120 required payments. ☺️

Hello April! I’ve been following you on Instagram for a while, and I just discovered you on TH-cam! Added some of these to my TBR list! Can’t wait to read them!
@@milettemillington OMG! Yeaaaa! I hope you enjoy them.
I wonder how the authors managed to come up with these fictitious stories
TFS!! I added the book to my list and I will do my research on the Sugar Land 95 and convict leasing.
From what I hear Just for the Summer is a winner
@@TangibleReads Listen…it’s an Abby book. It’s DEFINITELY a winner 😀
interesting books. Venus is a classic. Starting with her, then her sis, is the only reason I pay attention to tennis
I’m a huge fan of them as well.
Nice job April. Clever narrator ✍️

You forgot to mention that Ashira had just left a serious relationship and wasn't looking for anything "serious"...we all know she could've found Jas' info if she really wanted to. She was caught up in the fun and nonchalance of the situation.
The Exposed series is top tier.
@@evah8109 It absolutely is. So happy to bring this back listed book back to the forefront.
I frickin loved the exposed series. I’ve never heard too many people talk about that book. It was so good. I love Takerra Allen. I loved the commitment series too.
@@tvluckey Backlisted/older books have to be brought to the front so others can enjoy them as much as us. Takerra & Maureen/Naomi Chase are top tier. I hope when she re-releases the Exposed series that it takes off with new audiences 😀

This is a perfect response. Such a great story with a beautiful ending.
There is so much spiritual wisdom in what you said. Thank you!!!!
What is a national board certification? This is my first time hearing that. How is that different from being a certified teacher?
Sounds poignant. I never thought abt mixed race having priviledges affected by freedman.

Thank you for this review. I love books like this and will add it to my baby's library!
Yeaaa! Awesome! I know you will enjoy it 😊
Hi nanny April it’s me riley!
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am also going through the process of making the decision to end the National Board CT journey. Listening to you was an encouragement, especially how you mentioned you had peace about it & not stress over something that is not bring joy. I also was encouraged by you sharing your faith of obedience and discernment. ❤🙏🏼✝️
Thank you so much. I have not wavered in my decision since I made my choice. I’m a crier, & I still have not shed one tear. As I’ve gotten older, I have learned to be obedient to what is truly in my spirit. I was correct as other opportunities have presented themselves. Listen, discern, & wait for peace in your decision. Be blessed🙏🏾🫶🏾💕

Thank you 😊
And that’s a great question. She was definitely a moment
Hello, can advise where purchased the hard copy of this book?
Hi there! I purchased it in December when she had a book sale. If she has another one soon, I will definitely post it here so everyone is aware.
Any perceptive individual can easily determine that there is virtually no standards enforcement imposed on the kids anymore hence the older they become the further they’ve fallen behind in school. Then also the broken old system has not as yet been replaced by a more individualized and automated system which might have some built in flexibility such as abolishing grades, for instance, like in GED programs for young adults. But to attempt to stick it out once you realize how broken everything now is would be foolish so congratulations on your wise decision to quit.
Thank you so much 😊
You do NOT look like you’ve been teaching for 18 years.
Lol! OMG! Thank you! Yes! Year 18 for me🫶🏾
Never read any of these. I find myself at this time in my life wanting to read as much as I can about U.S. history…..especially our history. I’ll add these books to my list.
Learning about this time period will definitely have you understanding a lot about the present day. I hope you enjoy them 😊
I don't know how I came across this video, but I feel like I was listening to myself talk. From the same goals, to 18 years in education, to turning 40, to ending my NBCT journey... OMG!! This message was right on time! I'm floored!
OMG! I’m so happy it resonated with you. The timing was right, & I hope it helped you on your journey/decision.
TRUST your gut instincts. I wonder if this program actually improves the teaching/learning process. WHY isn't a STATE teacher's license good enough (You spend 4 to 7+ years to EARN it compared to a shorter period of time to earn this "certification")? Is this program backed by any kind of research? I suspect that it is more POLITICS than anything else. If you work in a PUBLIC school, BEHAVIOR challenges and issues unique to PUBLIC schools will interfere with this process. Don't they dangle money over your head to entice you? You've got to know when to hold' em, know when to fold' em. God bless you, sis, and thank you for your service.🤓
Yes! TIA (Teacher Incentive Allotment), but you must maintain the certification. It is every 5 years instead of 10 now. Everything you’ve said stands true & makes it more difficult. Thank you so much, & I’m glad that I made my decision to fold ‘em.😊
Yes, I'm interested in reading this book and I have it waiting to be read.
The Angela Bassett and Kelis are too cute!
Thank you ☺️
This book was really good . I read it and was in awe. I don't read books like this but when I did I was definitely moved by it. I wanted more.
It really was moving. It’s the kind of book that sits with you. I’m glad you enjoyed a book out of your normal genre
Thank you for your review. I requested it from the library.
Yea!!! I hope you enjoy it. :)
I enjoyed your Black History Month series!❤ Just finished The Changling audiobook and it took me months. I left it so long I forgot about starting it. You had the right idea about leaving it unread.
OMG!!! Thank you so much for tuning in to my Black History series. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. As far as The Changeling, definitely glad I DNF’d it. If it doesn’t fit, just quit.
Girl thanks for the heads up. 😮
Of course! That’s what I’m here for😊
How do you believe race plays a role in Rubys life ?
You've inspired my next purchase! Thanks❤
