Given all the evidence from younger versions of Red, Blue & Mina appearing in Let's Go P&E and then followed by older versions of the characters popping up in the Gen 7 games, I wanna suggest that Let's Go games take place around the same time as Gen 5 games of the Mega/Fairy timeline.

The only other piece of lore I can add is that, according to one of his gym trainers, seeing Moltres inspired Blaine to become the Fire-type gym leader, but that's really more lore about Blaine that it is about Moltres.

I am equally perturbed by Moltres’s homelessness. I love your theory about strong trainers, but yeah, nothing says that outside of its locations in the first two generations. Hopefully someday GF gives Moltres the love it deserves

I always liked Articuno, Zapdos, & Moltres in their own way, but Articuno was always my favorite back then.

With the alternate timelines technically started all the way back before gen 1 came out. The idea that every single Pokemon game were to be unique but as such tech wasn't really a thing back then they settled having 4 different versions that we got toda-yesterday. Wally was likely a easteregg and a cutting corner measure. I mean there are several times where a character from a past game shows up in a later one with next to no changes when appearing again. Like Black and White 2's World tournament with the only changes for 99% were their Pokemon selection. Cynthia and Red & Blue's usually the canonical appearances in select games.

I've done similar timeline calculations myself tbh, and this checks out! The real funny thing about the Pokémon timeline is that despite the multiple layers of alternate timelines/dimensions ("Mega" vs "Non-Mega", version differences within and between generations, and the implications that every single save file is its own parallel world, thus no one individual playthrough's events can be considered more or less canon than any other), the actual Time part of the timeline ends up mostly simplifying down to "each game takes place during its release year unless otherwise noted"! The clearest-dated timeskips between games - 3 years between RBY and GSC, and 2 years between BW and B2W2 - line up with the real-world time gap between their original release dates (1996-1999; 2010-2012). The in-universe year of the Gen 5 games may have jumped into the then-future by a couple years, but with B2W2 taking place at roughly the same time as XY, that sets them both very close to XY's release date in late 2013, normalizing the progression of time in the Pokémon universe relative to our own!

So I'm not sure if you wanna include the Game Freak Teraleak into discussion but the documents found in the leak state 3 bold things about the timeline: 1, BW takes place 10 years after DP, 2, SM takes place 10 years after RBY, and 3, ORAS is implied to take place around the same time as XY. You may notice there's already a massive contradiction: SM cannot be 10 years after RBY if BW is 10 years after DP. These statements were stated at different points of time of course, the BW one was in 2011 while the SM one was in 2014 in the SM pitch document, and the ages of Red and Blue in SM was stated to be 20 years old for both, so 9 to 10 years. The way I made it work for my personal timeline is that the gap between GSC and DP to BW is 10 years in the NON MEGA timeline, but only 2 years in the MEGA timeline. Is this perfect? Hell no, there's a ton of holes in this, but that's the best idea I have for it.

Using clues from the games and even concept art and other official sources like the Encyclopedia, Ive determined the timeline goes as such (discounting the multiversal shenanigans): Gen 1/3 (1996) Gen 2 (1999 (3 years later)) Gen 4 (2002 ("a little later" according to the leaked timeline) Gen 5 (2012 ("10 years after DP" according to the leaked timeline) Gen 5.5/6 (2014 (2 years after BW. X and Y is said to be concurrent, but i haven't seen ANYTHING official. Maybe im not looking hard enough)) Gen 7 (2016 (also 2 years later given Grimsley's concept art and Porygon's entry (it was made in '95))) Not too sure on the timeline of 8 and 9, but it may besome time after Gen 7.

I assumed the opening movie in gen 4 about lake rage was a documentary a few years later after the incident happened, and rhe reason they dont find it is the protag already caught it years ago, so jow its just a legend one lives there still

I think the "mega timeline" is really just ORAS and the Let's Go games at best. XY being part of the "mega timeline" just because it has mega evolution pretty much contradicts the entire premise of the XY games, which is to explore why Mega evolution has only been witnessed within Kalos. Zinnia and Dexio even say in gen 7 that the mega evolution is a thing they brought from "back home". ORAS goes against it by having mega evolution be used widespread across Hoenn, even more than in Kalos.

I’ve always been of the understanding that Gen 1 and 2 are their own separate timeline, one where Kanto is locked the hell down and nothing gets in or out. Then there’s gen 3-5 as a timeline with FRLG and RSE, HGSS and DPPT, BW, and B2W2. And then there’s the latest timeline with PLA, LGPE and ORAS, BDSP, XY, SM, USUM, SWSH, and SV.

There are more indicators for gen 5. 1. Looker appears in BW but not in B2W2, because he is in Kalos 2. While the rocket grunt from HGSS appears in BW, Red and Blur didn't visibly age. About the Mega timeline. My opinion is, that Pokemon Origins is Mega timeline Kanto. What about Let's go? Well, i subsribe to the Necrozma wins theory. If you look at the Pewter museum there is a timeline... With something that looks like Ultra Necrozma at the beginning. It's a branch in the Mega timeline.

I wish pokemon did more with previous games and timelines. They just dont use old characters or locations anymore. I want to see an older hop and see what happens to champions once they are dethroned. Even see our previous protagonists. The whole x&y friend group would be lovely to see older versions of. Just wasted potential

The Teraleak confirmed that Legends Arceus happens 150 years in the past and the timeline goes as follows: Gen 1/3 happen the same year > 3 years later > Gen 2 > Some months later > Gen 4 > 10 years later > Gen 5. There's no more official info from that point on. And no, Let's Go is its own timeline. It's a third timeline. There are three timelines: Mega, non-mega and Let's Go.

Wally's medical condition could make it to where he doesn't seem to age as much, a perpetual youth for some time (but not one of those "always a child" conditions). However, with your timeline, that easily brings credence to the idea that the time travel in Arceus, is what creates the divergent timelines.

I'm a no mega timeline truther in the sense that there's more than just two timelines. The way the lore was expanded retcons many of the older games. As an example, there are gen 3 interviews saying the idea that groudon and kyogre created the land and sea is purely a myth created by humans because of how powerful they seemed, but ORAS reinforces the idea they did have a literal part in creating them. Collaborative storytelling over decades is very complex

I absolutely agree with you about the placement of LGPE! It just makes so much sense based on Red and Blue having done their journeys long ago already, including Blue visiting Kalos (which is first mentioned in XY).

One thing I often think about is just the lore implications of just the legendary Pokémon alone like mewtwo is supposed to have fought MANY Pokémon so why don’t we hear of those battles? Even if it avoided some legends there is no way in he.. he did not at least fight the kanto birds/the legendary beast/ho ho/ luigia but no nothing while the two regions are literally neighbors yet the legendarys never interacted

I have to disagree with the Let's Go thing, to me those are too different to be canon. The canon events of the 1st gen in the mega timeline is the Pokémon Origins anime they released a while back that tells the differences in the new timeline.

With regards to Wally's appearance not aligning with Red's and Blue's, it's possible that he's just a short king with a bit of a babyface, so he didn't visually "advance" as much as R/B did. Granted, that's also just a hand-wavy explanation tbf

There are things I'd love to add just to give more info on exact years. We see Penny's father in Sword and Shield, but Penny is nowhere to be found, She had JUST returned by the start of Scarlet And Violet after being sent back to Galar for 1.5 years, so SV have to happen at least 1.5 years after SwSh. Now, I'm gonna wait till I play through Gen 6 again after so many years, but I remember there being something about the Hoen remakes happening after X and Y.

With how “loosy-goosy” Pokémon’s timeline is, I like to think that, outside of clearly stated points in time (game takes place after another game), you are free to interpret the timeline any way you want.
