That timber looks like it's is going down into clay. There's no stone around it for drainage. It's surely going to rot quickly. Vertical screening would not hold water between the lats

I worked as an apprentice saw doctor for Wm Cook & Sons Glasgow from 1967 - 1972.. All saws were sharpened manually with millsaw files..and tensioned with peck hammers... I think I have something in my eye...

That is the way to go just ask and talk to a saw doctor, and what a fantastic job . I'm only in as small way but love my old horizontal reciprocating saw mill and taking care of the blades and other wood cutting machinery l have about 42 in number, l have enjoyed felling tree and processing timber and lecturing as well , just wished l could have had a qualifications in saw doctoring. But understand you are offering a course now for people to learn new skills this is what we need Stephen

Hi William, unfortunately you are incorrect. K2 does not have the capacity of the Dalbeattie sawmill. I designed the Dalbeattie sawmill in conjunction with Linck. I was also involved in the preliminary design for K2. Originally the Dalbeattie line had the option of using the Hewsaw line which is installed in Fort William. It was a close run thing but eventually it was decided that Link had the best solution for Howie Forest Products ltd. all the Howieforwood videos were made by me. I designed the planer lines both for Fort William and Dalbeattie. Along with Scott Shiels, we designed the Fort William mill. I have all the original drawings for both mills which I worked on before my unfortunate brush with cancer which effectively ended my working life. Both mills are streets ahead of anything the opposition sawmills have in their armoury.
