Luzurne & Susquehanna #50 works the Wilkes-Barre Job

On Tuesday June 25th, we set out to shoot the Luzurne Susquehanna's Wilkes-Barre Job, with Ex-PRR SW7 #50 powering the trip. Upon arriving at Pittston, we found that we were too late, and that the crew were already out working. We later caught up to them at Buttonwood, and followed them for the rest of the trip. Enjoy! On Saturday, June 22, the Reading and Northern Railroad ran their T-1 class Steam Locomotive from the newly built Nesquehoning Station, to Tunkhannock. Funny, Oak street is actually a place I try to catch trains at whenever I’m right next to there. That spot on the hill, in the grass on the dental office side of the tracks is where I normally stand. It’s a great vantage point because you can see up and down both ways of the line.
I love how the stack talk is so loud it almost drowns out the whistle.

Was this PTC territory on the railroad? Or dynamic braking for a prolonged downhill run?
It was for dynamic braking down the hill from Penobscot to Pittston.

The R&N should probably pull long future excursions from Reading Outer Station to Tunkhannock one day!
I’ve already inquired that, it’s basically a whole half a day just to go from Reading to Pittston or Tunkhannock. That’s why they are using Nesquehoning as the starting point.

I know that area well...Nice footage but why does it keep changing colors? Lock the brightness and that will stop it from doing that....
Yeah not sure about the colors. Just got this new phone for Christmas so I'm still trying to figure out some of the camera settings.
If it's Android just tap the screen when in video mode and then tap the lock icon that appears on the screen....problem solved@@NEPATrains340

Hey Rob! This is 1st Street in Hudson where I've seen you record from before. This is just on the other side of the road just past the crossing.

Yes it is really close to the yard. On fact, it is the last crossing before the yard.
@@NEPATrains340 i drove it out on 2020, i came down through Duryea, and crossed a few sets of tracks, i had to look at google maps to figure it out. But we didnt see any trains, my wife is from Old Forge. So we do get up that way from time to time

@@LRSX You're welcome! Also yes, you should head over to Pittston some time to see the station. I live very close to Wilkes Barre so Pittston is a close drive for me so I go there pretty often.
@@LRSX Hello again! I meant to ask you this yesterday, but I forgot. I'm going down to Jim Thorpe today to do my first ever cab ride! I want to catch the NRFF in the gorge, but all I know is that it normally comes through sometime during 4:00. Do you know a more exact time that it comes through? Like 4:00 sharp, 4:30, ect? Thank you!
@@NEPATrains340 they are usually between 4:05pm, to 4:30 p.m. thats usually the window i shoot for. Enjoy the Cab Ride we've done it twice and its so much fun!
