In nature what we call competition is actually reactions in the body of the animal. If he's hungry, the animal will go hunting for prey in order to survive, the prey will have to run or defend itself again using its own capabilities. It is each individual's MEIT to survive and reproduce in a given context. Human competition is completely different as it is based on the "I" opposing the "other". Natural "competition" is about the survival of the body and the continuation of life form trough reproduction, human competition is about the survival of the IDEA or THOUGHT of "I" and "MY". Also "winners" and "failures" only exist as a concept in the human mind.
