Travel back to 2020, a different time, as C2 & E Class trams rattle through the less-busy Bourke Street Mall in Melbourne’s CBD! Final Afternoon N Class Service from Warrnambool The Warrnambool N Class service holds a special place in my heart as I used to travel there very often in my childhood. The 30th of November was the final day for most these N Class services on the Warrnambool Line, so naturally I had to go and take a visit. Nice!
Nice video 🎉
Wow
6059 is now a dog-cat with an E2 cab at 1 end and an E1 driver's cab at the other.
I think I like trams
Wow!
Wow
Excellent video. I didn't know about the cherry blossoms at Cherrybrook. Some staff are a little confused about filming as commercial filming is not permitted without approval and when they see a tripod or a gimbal they tell you to move on. I also think that due to the very high number of enthusiasts who have been filming the Metro, some staff are over it. Great video, well done Harry 👍👏
Thanks John, in regards to the staff, to be fair, the lady at Cherrybrook was really nice and even asked about my TH-cam channel. Much nicer than staff at North Melbourne & Kings Cross who have both rudely threatened me when I was just doing my hobby.
Another excellent video from my home town. Well done Harry 👍 👏
Thanks John
@hazptmedia you're very welcome 👍

Wow
We both got the same name Lol😂
Lol
Hi Harry 👋 Thank you for referring to them as "trams" in the title because I am old and "light rail " simply doesn't compute in my pre dementia brain😅 I haven't ridden the Canberra tram as yet but I will endeavour to do so in the new year. Great video, well done Harry 👏 👍
Thanks, in my opinion, the vehicles are trams, while light rail is the type of tracks/stations the trams run on.
@hazptmedia You are absolutely 💯 correct Harry 👏
Glad to see this one still ran. A bunch of us Gunzels went on the Friday service as there was rumours about this one being a Vlocity. Great video!
Glad the rumours were false.
Nothing to celebrate about vlocity railcars running most Warrnambool services a downgrade and a step backwards not suitable for long distance journeys uncomfortable seats less room. Less room for suitcases and other luggage no first class no blinds and other issues
They should really make more long distance vlos (Albury Line) for these longer distance routes.
It’s so sad I loved going on them
*UPDATE: 04/12/24* I made a small mistake in the video, there will be TWO N Class services NOT one on weekdays. Although these will still be at inconvenient times (after 8pm from Melbourne to Warrnambool) and in the morning from Warrnambool. Weekends will remain the same as said in video, with only one N set in each direction. This video marks the final 1732 up weekend service, on the final day of majority N class operation on the Warrnambool Line, from the 1st of December 2024, the Warrnambool Line is mostly ran by VLocities, displaying a historic shift in the line’s rolling stock. There were celebrations for the first day of majority VLocity services on the 1st at Warrnambool, although I did not visit that day.
how do you actually know what train is scheduled for each service?
Search up “V/Line Network Service Plan” on google
It says in when you go to book your ticket
@@Celluloid_Bull like online?
this is good video, but the suggestion that it is the final N class service, is rubbish. Go check out the new Vline MTP you will be very surprsied.
Apologies for any confusion, I never said it was the final N class service (ever), although it is the final afternoon N class service: i mentioned this in the video at 0:35 stating that there will still be one morning service from Warrnambool to Melbourne, and one late night service from Melbourne to Warrnambool. This marks the end of majority N class running on the Warrnambool line, not the final N class service ever, but certainly the historical end of a locomotive hauled dominated service, a pivotal shift in the lines history.
the N class trains have been very good through the years and i have travelled on these to Warnambool and back to Melbourne as far as i know the new velocity trains have or could be having the buffet car well I would hope so from travelling on both the velocity and the N class you should enjoy travelling on the new trains any one who hasn't travelled on a velocity yet do so you will be impressed
Yeah I’m a bit sad to see the N class go, unfortunately VLocity services on the Warrnambool Line don’t have buffets, and the only VLocities that have them are Standard Gauge, running on the Albury Line into NSW.
0:53 average Broadmeadows ambiance
Is this the final ever n class service on the warrnambool line?
Good Question, No, I explained in the video that there will still be one service from Melbourne to Warrnambool late at night, and a morning service from Warrnambool run by N sets. Although all other services will be VLocity service.
@@hazptmedia two services each way.
@@bigal4919I was referring to weekend service
This marks the end of an era for traditional train travel and a step backwards in the name of progress. The Vlocity is the future and the loss of amenities and jobs is the cost. Does the SG service to Albury have a buffet? Excellent video, well done Harry 👍👏
Well said! The SG VLocity is the only VLocity with a buffet, as well as usb ports. Why they didn’t just create more of these on broad gauge for the other long distance V/Line routes is beyond me.
@hazptmedia Unfortunately it always comes down to cost with the taxpayers paying for the build and also losing jobs in the process. The bean counters fail to realise that fewer people are wanting to travel when you take away the very drawcard and reduce the incentives for rail travel. The SG Vlocity could have replaced the XPT's and Explorer services if only the 2 governments collaborated to provide the jobs and the trains at a much reduced cost.
Very true.
I did a trip to Colac and back on the last day, riding the 6:55am service to Colac and the 1:02pm service from Colac.
Yes the SG VLocity has buffet but it’s not always open !
Hi Harry, I really enjoyed this video and I appreciate your informative description and captions. I can't say much about this station because you covered it all. Well done 👍👏
Thanks for watching! I really try to cover as much as I can in my videos.
@hazptmedia you always succeed Harry.
2:06 where i live
Great video mate when I am older I might go to Melbourne
Hi Chad, I think you will like Melbourne when you eventually go there.
Hi Harry 👋 I am amazed at how much travel you did during your short visit to Sydney. The South Coast line is indeed very scenic and even more so further south to Kiama. Thanks for sharing this with us. 👍
Thanks for the comment, I really wish I went further south than Wollongong towards Kiama but I didn’t have time on that day.
@hazptmedia you're very welcome 👍 I think you did very well for the short time you were here.
Pretty much Princess Bridge station was also rebuilt in the 1960s when the Gas & Coal buildings were built above it while it was closed in 1997 for the demolition of those buildings and for the construction of Federation Square! The old 1960s signal box that was retained with a small section of the original platform is still in use today as a server room for signalling, radio and CCTV equipment! :)
❤❤❤
Great video, nice to see some freight trains as well
For some reason there seems to be so much more freight in NSW. I filmed heaps there, more soon!
Excellent video. I think route 12 must have the most frequent service in Melbourne judging by what I see in this video. Well done Harry 👍 👏
Thanks, yeah it’s quite frequent, although probably not the most frequent.
@hazptmedia you're very welcome Harry 👍
what do u film with?
Usually I use my Panasonic V180K camcorder, but in this video I used my Phone. I always list my equipment in the video description :)
i think thats a bus
Hi Harry 👋welcome to my home town. The numerous freight trains is due to all trains needing to go to Brisbane must utilise this line from as far away as Perth until the completion of the inland rail corridor. It's good to see the Oscar overtake the Waratah at this location. Excellent video. Well done Harry 👍 👏
Yeah, it’s quite an interesting station to film at with all the different services. I filmed at Wondabyne after I filmed this video, and got saw heaps of trains, even a Waratah was there.
@hazptmedia When I was very young, Wondabyne was and still is my favourite outer urban station. I would go there in the early morning and listen to the fish jumping and to the echo of the distant trains approaching while waiting for the tell tail twang of the rails to indicate that the train has entered the section and I would have to move off the track. I look forward to your video of this station and I hope you truly enjoyed the Wondabyne experience 😀 I suspect that the Waratah was under tow because it's rare to see one at this location.
@aussiejohn5835 Wondabyne was beautiful, I was there for four hours! Also, the Waratah was under its own power! It was so cool, also saw a D set and a bunch of other trains not going to spoil everything, video should be out in December.
@hazptmedia I am surprised about the Waratah, and you may be one of the very few to film it at that location. I know you will do a great job with this video, and I can't wait to see it. You certainly made the best of this visit to Sydney Harry 😄
Shame there was no operator-liveried buses, must have been a weekend? Dion’s have to be one of the best Met Service operators in Australia.
Yep, this video was filmed on Sunday, hence no operator livered buses.
Love this video Harry at Wollongong ❤of the buses
1:10 sounds like an old bus stopping sound lol. I do like the change they have made though and the announcements do sound a bit like comeng especially on the Craigieburn Line.
