    I wondered about this topic frequently. I was a leather craftsman for 11 years. People often called my furniture pieces works of art. Once your work jumps in the “art” category the price goes way up!

    • @debbiechatfieldartist
      @debbiechatfieldartist หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes doesn't it! It's perceived value, in Part 2 we talk intention, it is interesting how we can shape our own art so much more than in the past. I saw some of your furniture I would describe them as art, interesting! 🎨 ❤️

    I know what you mean….when you say sometimes art is inside you and it’s kinda ….fully baked and you just need to get it out of your head and into the physical. Other times art is more exploring, discovery, lots of playful trial & error. Thanks for sharing!

    I really like the analogy of learning to play the piano and you can’t do that until you have been taught or practiced the keys, it makes sense to me that I have no clue about colour, or mixing paint or using different brushes and effects because I haven’t done it before. I’m itching to find the time to just mess about with paints but scared as well about being judged or compared. Very thoughtful podcast. 😀

    • @debbiechatfieldartist
      @debbiechatfieldartist 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you Sue, so glad that came across you've got exactly what we meant... I can show you ways to help you mix paint (will do in Paint with Debs) but a lot of how you learn is messing with the paint yourself, playing... sketchbooks are great places to mess and you can keep them very private like a diary or do a painting with the idea its just a practice piece (sketchbooks is episode 4)... I do practice pieces sometimes, if anyone looks you're just messing but if they turn out then they're a painting 😘 x

    Hi Debbie and Ruth, really interesting what you’ve been discussing and one thing you mentioned was that you need to give yourself the time and permission to try things out. I see it as being akin to mindfulness, and sadly for me, the book on mindfulness that my husband bought me at Christmas is still sitting on the table at about page 5! But I am going to try and allocate some time off for me, in a busy life, maybe that’s one of the hardest things. An inspiring podcast though, thank you ladies.

      Hi Sue thanks for sharing your personal thoughts. It’s definitely a break through when you can give yourself time, patience to be creative and it starts with us giving ourselves permission ❤ I hope you can carve out the time and space as once you get going it’s much easier to go back to creative time for yourself 😊

      Awww thank you so much Sue, this touched my heart ❤️ makes all the work putting the Podcast together worth it to reach out to people like yourself, it's weird how we feel we need to give permission for something so important, we still do it too ... look out for I think episode 004 'Carving out Time' it's all about making time for your art / creativity and how it doesn't all need to be painting 😘 xx

    I really like your work, it's a bit impressionistic to me but has more structure than traditional impressionist works with hints of abstract . I find myself creating art like that too. What kind of watercolor are you using ? Much love ❤️ 🙏 from a fellow artist

      @debbiechatfieldartist 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @leesvision, I really like that you see the impressionist influence, when I work outside and I'm working towards abstraction especially in the studio so glad you relate and see that too, I'm using acrylic not watercolour, I think most of these were Winsor and Newton but any make, when outside I'm working on A2 sheets, cropping and collaging to A3 in the sketchbook, thanks for your interest ❤️ 😀

      @debbiechatfieldartist 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @renzo6490 I am using acrylic with other mixed media, pastels, oil pastels, charcoal on cartridge paper and sketch outside... I am talking about inspiration more than technique as this video is about my journey... the sketches then are collaged for ideas for future abstracted art 🎨 hope this answers your question?
