House of Time is an exciting new ensemble dedicated to music of the 17th through the 20th century played on period instruments. Members include faculty and graduates of the Juilliard School as well as prize-winners of major international competitions. Programming combines masterpieces with works by lesser known masters and recent discoveries. Using the instruments and techniques of different eras to express vivid passions in the music, House of Time seeks to make the past speak directly to our culture and provide relief from the fast pace of modern day life. House of Time has been presented by the Czech Center in NewYork City in a concert of 17th century gems from the Kromeriz archive. They have also given headline performances at the Berkeley Early Music Festival and Early Music Festival:NYC, and starting their second season of concerts in Manhattan.

In the mid 20th century musicologists discovered a manuscript keyboard part to the famous Bm flute sonata BWV 1030. Being a third lower, and of an earlier date, it became obvious that the work had originally been written for a different instrument, and oboe seemed the most likely candidate. As it became clear that in fact it was probably written for violin instead, it was largely disowned by oboists as quickly as it had been adopted. I have always kept it in repertoire, feeling that regardless of the evidence it is one of the greatest works we oboists can play. Like many others, I have "discovered" a high Eb on my baroque oboe, allowing a performance without changes in those four key moments.

Everyone's performance was magnificent in this masterful composition by the brilliant master A. Vivaldi. The filming is regrettable because it does not demonstrate the individual performance of the musicians, especially that of the baroque guitar, whose face does not even appear and that of the maestro playing the harpsichord. There was no movement of the camera by the operator, who appears to be a spectator of the wonderful performance. Congratulations to everyone and the virtuoso soloist Alana.💐🎻👍👏👏🌻💫💫💫💫💫 🇧🇷

A very nice and worthy endeavour because this trio composition calls for orchestral realisation, particularly the dancing 6/8 first movement, yet I’d guess I’d be happier with a flute-violin blend for its more sublime articulation/dynamics and therefore better fitting melos.
