      I don't want to name names, but I've encountered a couple of people personally on Instagram. One of whom is a well known personal growth advocate who has written his own book. In all fairness his book doesn't knock meds, but he messaged me personally and had some less than intelligent things to say

  • @aprilluevano9378
    @aprilluevano9378 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used to be on anxiety and depression pills and they did help at first but after a while my symptoms got worse. It wasn't until I went cold turkey, got off my pills and started to work thru all of my issues that I was able to start to feel better. Sometimes we have to have a combination of things to find a solution. It was hard for me to stop taking them but I will never regret that decision..I still struggle but it's not as bad anymore. I also have a strong support system now. I never put people down for taking meds when it does help them. We all have our own methods of what works.

    • @outoftheshadowscorvo1471
      @outoftheshadowscorvo1471 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't disagree, meds are not always the answer. The majority of times though if someone drops their meds cold turkey it can cause a major crash and do a great deal of harm. I am glad that was not the case for you. That's why I've said if someone wants to stop their meds the safest means is to taper down slowly. Also because one can experience withdrawal symptoms if meds are dropped abruptly. But, I do not think meds are a MUST. Some people recover without them. I just feel society should not demonize psych meds as they are useful (and necessary) for some forms of mental illness.

    • @aprilluevano9378

      @@outoftheshadowscorvo1471 I totally agree. Some people need them I know I did for a long time but the stigma has to end.

  • @francesanne8741

    Thank you for posting this. Even in this day and age, there is still so much stigma surrounding psych meds. Mental illness is an illness which needs treatment, and much of the time, that means medication. It's not much different from a diabetic needing to take insulin. I wish more people realized that. Thanks again for the videos. <3

    @mariovargas5844 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent and I really like what you have to say. I wish the negative stigma would go away. People often forget that it is not any different that a medical condition. Hypertension doesn’t have a negative stigma why does depression. Medic Musing

    • @outoftheshadowscorvo1471
      @outoftheshadowscorvo1471 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I genuinely appreciate the support 🙏. I completely agree. We as a society need to work to get rid of the stigma associated with mental illness. As you say those who have a physical illness are not condemned for their condition. Anyone who's struggling with an illness, be it physical or psychological, should be offered support.

    • @corvo304
      @corvo304 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was an intense experience 😂. That's why I said it was a bit extreme. However, that's also not something I decides to do whilst I was severely depressed. I was in a good place emotionally, engaging in different personal growth practices and I wanted a challenge. So, yes it's certainly not something I recommend for everyone nor do I recommend it if someone is still in a rather difficult place. It's a step one would need to build up to.
