I've been basically trying skips on this long road cuz I know you can bounce a lucky bounce to the goal. Just gotta hit the right spots.. with luck

there's a reason why it happens when you get those high (snake island has the highest jump) on any map as far as I know. I dunno if anyone has realised it before in speedrun community. Yodel peaks is another perfect example too

@@the8arber304 basically cuz car bounding boxes origins are in the front. you notice that when you turn any car. cars have "turning pivot" near front wheels hard to explain but when rear of the car back hits walls, you get speedboost. you notice that alot if you play with the bus. it's tricky tho if you wanna exploit it, you have to let go of "forward" and "turn" and you "fly around" you also have to hold "forward" again because for some reason the slower the current/max speed of a car is, the more speed you gain accelerating again (slopes on road boost it in a way, same with "walls" it's all about "normals"). some programming decision for sure to keep balance for multiplayer. I mean maybe you've noticed it but you gain alotta speed and that "wall" in the bridge glitch is a "wall" cuz its "normal" is screwed (in a nutshell the normal calculations were probably rushed cuz deadline to release game (makes no sense to me tho)? I dunno but I'd love to hear from devs why the map normals are bugged) - (on every map) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normal_(geometry) the physics in Ignition are based on simple math to calculate "angle" between car center and normal when you hit a "wall" (other cars too but different math) and it makes you bounce off. at least it makes sense to me alot, programmer myself en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimum_bounding_box the bus is the "biggest" you notice it best with that, the physics bug. play with the bus and hit the back of the bus against walls when you jump to anything in short: the more distance from a "wall" to center of the car (rear side), the more "extra speed" you gain the simple physics are all to save CPU calculations for old PCs back in the day ... 🤓 honestly it's just all guessing why geometry is bugged, but would love to hear from devs why
@@the8arber304 I'll upload a new vid soon what I mean by the car back hitting "a wall against normal". in action. it's basically skips if you nail those, that stuff works on every map. but I know mostly just Snake Island. Tokyo Bullet also has some potential for even faster time I bet
that new start strat looks fantastic! and yeah, Snake Island can be so troll. my favorite one happens when you go left at the "+ section" in the end. you hit a good angle, should make it fairly over the gap, but for some unfathomable reason you plunge into the water. and the splash sound of this makes it even worse.

awesome run dude! you've mastered the s-curve and the following bridge boost like no one else. good luck hunting the track WR. you seem to be very close. sub 36 is possible? how? didn't know about any glitches.
the glitches are hard to explain but they're basically at the "+ section" with the broken bridges and a bit before that. 37s 200ms def possible if nothing else. the "skips" are really difficult tho. I dont even attempt them unless I'm way behind and not reset (yet anyway) by "skips" I mean bouncing off from walls and more

I remember bouncing once after the boost on the long bridge, but the car just flew straight over the "+ section" instead of going left. will probably be hard to control the car after such a bounce.. it's crazy that there's still stuff to discover in this game. yeah, I kinda left Twitch. wanted to have time for other things. but I would always enjoy watching an Ignition stream. so maybe I'll catch your stream soon.

I've played Snake Island for years and it's been my favorite map since I was a kid in the 90s lol. I've noticed plenty of glitches on the map, geometry+physics glitches that could be used for faster time, sub 36s lap is definitely possible but ye, thanks for GG <3

I changed it but the weird thing is, YT thinks this video is GTA1... like huh? maybe the (old) title had GTA or something in it lol. The music is from UT99 so can't be that
@@nukecorruption yeah happens to me too, when I wanna upload a video, TH-cam thinks it's GTA. but I found out, that you can chose the German name of Ignition (Bleifuß Fun) while uploading it, but you have to chose, otherwise it's GTA lol
grats for the sub 1.52 and the sub 37 dude! great last lap. also very nice save at 1:09, that jump otherwise would've probably hit the invisible wall. keep up the good stuff!

that was some horrible luck in the ending! you had it man...I'll use your strat at the S-curve when I play again. it's really faster and consistent. and you enter the bridge pretty fast as well. I often lose time there because the car hits a wall before I can boost. good luck to you! I'm sure you gonna get the record if you keep going.
that was really nice to watch, very clean! and I like the way you handle the S-curve at 16s/17s of each lap. you go on man and you gonna push the WR pretty far!
that curve btw, can do it faster with the "new strat". that's what I meant by lighthouse section

yeah can be like 36sec 500ms.. found a "new strat" today with the lighthouse section that saves about 200ms or whatever. maybe it's a thing but the runs I've watched never seen anyone use it
@@nukecorruption what new strat do you mean? I see you also use the first two boosts slightly differently, that also looks better and more consistent than the way I do it. but tell me, why do you run with obstacles on lol?
@@the8arber304 not on this video, don't have an example but next time I play Ignition I'll take a clip. Obstacles, because I like them and pretty sure they dont affect car speed when you hit them
