@GlobalodeSA yes it is, and I can hardly wait!
Whoo! the 2020 DNN Summit DNNYetti backdrop! It will be excellent to connect with others while participating in DNN training, tips and sessions at DNN Summit 2025!
You're right - looking back to 2020, it's going to be so awesome!
Awesome!!!! Las Vegas baby! 👏👏👏
Can't wait! Vegas is always a good time.
amazing!!!
Glad you like it! We had a great time doing it!
Great Video Dave!
Thank you!
Thanks for the trick Dave! 🤝
You are most welcome!
Nice Dave! Great stuff!
Hi Dave, I don't know if this is the appropiate plate to ask something about hrp-tracking-disable cookies on DNN, how to know what exactly these are ?
@David Poindexter is often my rubber duck while co-coding lol... But he also gifted me a Kevin Malone and a Dwight Shrute Funko Pop, they are in their very own way very useful for rubberducking
Ha ha - did you just call me a duck?!?! LOL
@@DNNDave If it talks about ducks and it has ducks, it must be a duck!
Hi I am waiting for next part too :P
No pressure huh! LOL - seriously, just happy to see the interest in this - it is motivating and I will try to prioritize this series. :)
This is a great primer for using the SPA starter project in DNN. Just curious if a Part 2 was ever made? I can't seem to find it and I'm right at the point ready to add Dropzone.js into the project.
Thank you for expressing the interest! Your timing is great as I am ramping back up my content creation efforts. I have a 5-part series planned for this module, so stay tuned. Now knowing there is interest, I'll see if I can bump this one back up in the queue. ;-)
@@DNNDave Thank you! And I can't wait to see how to solve the Website folder being copied into the desktopmodules folder on a debug build... LOL! I can't seem to figure it out either, but mine does the same thing after following along.
Great talk with Aaron Lopez!
Great talk! Aderson Superman Oliveira is one of the pillars of our community!!
Indeed he is Rodrigo - indeed he is!
Great chat. Glad to see Jeremy up on DNN Dave as he’s an amazing member of the DNN community!
Agreed - so glad to have such great community members to highlight!
Great job on this all around and thank you sharing the solution and insights!!
Thanks for watching and commenting @Jeremy Farrance
I had a great time David! Thank you for the opportunity to reconnect!
Digging the red glasses!
Miss you Scott! I always wanted a glass frame with my favorite color ;)
Came here to hear DNN Dave say “hello, hello!” And was not disappointed. 10/10
Love this, watched the whole thing. Aderson, you are definitely missed. Are you even aware how awesome your OpenHelp Slack channel has become? Dozens of us rely on it daily for answers, keeping up to date, and keeping in touch!!
Thanks for watching @Jeremy Farrance - it was so great to reconnect and reminisce with Aderson - such a great and inspiring guy!
Thank you Jeremy! To be honest, I was not aware of that until a few weeks ago when David and Will asked for some help there. Amazing to see how it is still helping.
Hey Dave. As I followed through the instructions I still happen to see the dll's in the bin folder. How am I supposed to get rid of these. Thanks. Special Thanks to @Daniel Valadas
Which DLLs are you seeing in the bin folder? Are you sure you followed all of the steps on the GitHub release page? If this is a site that was upgraded from an older version, you may have some additional extensions and/or DLLs that need to be uninstalled or removed manually.
@@DNNDave I followed all the steps from the video. After all the steps - I still happen to see the two Telerik.Web.UI and Telerik.Web.UI.Skins dll's in the bin folder other than the Telerik identifier which we installed to check for any dependencies.
@@vikrammanthena2060 can you double-check your steps against the steps at the following URL? github.com/dnnsoftware/Dnn.Platform/releases/tag/v9.8.0 I am pretty sure some steps were added after we did this live stream.
@@DNNDave Finally I was able to remove the DLL's. New Problem with the Admin - SQL Console and Config Manager. I cannot write the SQL Queries and can't view the files by selecting the drop-down inside the config Manager. Please Help. Appreciate your response.
@@vikrammanthena2060 I am glad to hear your Telerik removal is now completed. For the other support needs, I highly recommend you reach out to the broader DNN Community via dnncommunity.org/forums - I'm sure someone would be happy to help there.
Just an FYI for those uninstalling an old module, even if you check the 'delete files' it doesn't always delete the files. You may have to go to the DesktopModules directory and see if that module folder is still there. Plus check the bin folder to see if the associated .dll has been removed. For example, on our development server when we removed the Vendor module, it removed the folder and the .dll. But it didn't removed the associated Banner module. So we just ran the uninstall for the Banner module from the Extensions page. But when we deleted the Blog module it didn't delete any files at all. Now, these are old versions that haven't been updated for a couple of years but they still operated fine on some really old sites. Of course, be VERY careful that you only delete the folders and .dlls that are for that exact module. Another thing to consider is when you remove a module it doesn't do a thing for any associated SQL tables and queries. Since their table and queries were created during the module install, there is no 'remove sql stuff' function to purge them during an uninstall. For the most part, they probably can just stay. They shouldn't be taking up much space and shouldn't affect performance at all. If you want to be super cautious (not a bad idea), restore your installation to your local server and complete all these steps there first. I did that and created a checklist that I'm going to use on production.
Thanks for the additional notes!
We usually see this happen when modules are not installed and/or upgraded using the installation wizard. (Some agencies/developers bypass the system by "upgrading" using FTP or automated file sync in tools like Octopus Deploy or DevOps.) Another cause of this is when a developer doesn't use the CleanUp component in their releases, when necessary.
@@upendoventures True, but all of these were upgraded with the proper installation. But, like you said, not all developers use the proper procedures. True for many systems, not just DNN.
Hello everyone, Is the Resourse Manager only available in version 9.8 or is it available in version 9.6? I'm tryign to upgrade my DNN version to 9.8 (i have 9.6) but in the DNN documentation i´ts only avaliable up to version 9.6
The new Resource Manager is only available in 9.8.0+. It has dependencies on DNN 9.8.0+, so you cannot just install it on older versions of DNN. An upgrade from 9.6.x to 9.8.0 should be pretty painless.
@@DNNDave Thank you so much for read my question, this video was so helpful to me, great job
Sure thing - are you aware of dnndocs.com - that may help!
THank you very much. When I upgraded to 9.8 it doesn't look like it brought in the resource manager. When I go to available extensions all I have available is Core Language Packs. How can I get the install .zip for the resource manager? Thanks again.
Make sure you have “Modules” selected in the dropdownlist for extension types.
@@DNNDave Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. THe only thing I have in the dropdown is Core Language Packs.
@@SantiagoPerezartist sounds like you may have a bigger issue. What do you see in ~/Install/Modules?
@@SantiagoPerezartist is it showing in your Installed Extensions?
@@SantiagoPerezartist it sounds like something may have gone wrong somewhere along your upgrade path. I'd recommend you post on the forums at dnncommunity.org. There are lots of great people in the community that should be able to help sort things out for ya!
Great stuff guys - thanks for all you do for the DNN Community!
Thanks for inviting me on this epic one!
Thank you for helping me through this, and I hope this helps many in our community!
I’ll definitely have to watch this and start incorporating this into my websites.
It doesn't do anything with the log4net files though?
Correct - it is SQL focused.
Sorry for all the video buffering issues folks, but at least the audio and screen share seems to be good. ;-)
Hi! DNN. My PR 's are under a Review Period of 14 days, but till then the Hacktoberfest will get over. I have made 5 PR's on 23/10/2020. Whether I will be eligible for Goodies then?
Hi, you may want to check out hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/faq for more information on how PRs are counted. Good luck!
Great job guys! We are excited to see the production release of DNN 9.8.0. We have many sites to upgrade.
Yes to an 8th video! Sounds great.
Do you have a link for Peter's video series?
Nice job gentlemen. Are there episode on alphabetizing the list, buttons that take you to A, B, C .... etc, selection of # to display, search and all of that other good stuff on the horizon? After that, I've got an even longer list. <lol> It would be fun to see this full fleshed out. Seriously ...
I actually have a POC for a client to A-B a structured content tool other than Evoq. Naturally I thought of 2scx, but have never used it before. Great to "hang out" with my 2 good DNN buddies while I learn!
Is there also an easy way to suggest a different path for a file? For instance, I would like to suggest to move Manage a Premium Module as a child of Modules. Can that be done in browser?
Good work David! Thanks for doing these... you rock!
Dave and Don -- Good stuff! I'm holding myself back from asking questions, making suggestions, and generally meddling in this. But .... I'm gong to take my hands away from the keyboard and wait for the next several episodes ...
Thanks David, I’m a DNN guy who’s just discovered PWAs. Very exciting ... appreciate your quick overview ... gives me a starting point. Cheers!
TheRandomNeuron What is so appealing about putting a website into a featureless browser window and passing it off as an app when you can have the real deal? Is misleading users that much of a turn-on?
This looks very much like what I do using Open Content
Thanks for that David. Can you please show if the Add to home screen functionality works?
