@@fairywrenwhispers thank you for your beautiful heart and attention to detail, Yvie 🦋. Not watching the news is a good thing! What happened with this hurricane was completely unheard of. It dumped a ton of rain in land locked mountains causing rivers to rise extremely rapidly destroying many many many towns and lives. My area is on the Atlantic coastline, the hurricane made landfall off the Gulf of Mexico, which is about an 8 hour drive from where I live, we had tropical storm conditions…so damage was hit or miss. But 7 days later, many are still without power in my area. Over a million lost power in my state alone (and South Carolina is a small state). Our cables are buried so we were okay, (plus we have solar backup power). Anyway, the coastlines of Florida were hit hard from storm surge, and the mountain towns (where we visited last month) are just demolished. MULTIPLE states were impacted badly. It is heartbreaking to see what people are going through, and many lives lost with MANY unaccounted for. BUT, to see how many private citizens are stepping up to help one-another, is SO heartwarming 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.

@@GoldenAngel444 ....that this is so horrific Sherry to hear about the devastation of the hurricane and to hear of the lives being lossed and that towns you re-visited recently are demolished from it....that's so heart breaking to know and how traumatising it's effects and aftermarth are. @@fairywrenwhispers This was an adorable little valley town. This is where our cabin was located. We had planned to have a nice relaxing day in this town and at the cabin on our last full day (day 5), which was also our 24th anniversary, but the tropical storm that was approaching our home area, sent us home a day early. Long way of saying, we did not get to attend the dance, and I shamefully “borrowed” that one particular photo from inside the dance hall 🤣

@@fairywrenwhispers Cherokee is not a traditional town or city center. It is actually a Native American Reservation. I believe that means they are sovereign (self governed, but most likely still have to pay federal taxes, as US Citizens). I have a strange relationship with Cherokee… we have been there twice now…the last time was in 2013, when my daughters were both under age 10. Back in 2013, we went tubing down a different section of the river. We asked if they could tether our daughters’ tubes to ours, and they said unnecessary as it was very gentle. Well, they dropped us off and we lost hold of our girls within two minutes (and my husband is an experienced whitewater rafter). The mountain River was very low and sift and rocky. The girls being lightweights glided right over the rocks and the parents got stuck on the rocks. It took several minutes for my husband to catch our youngest. And a few minutes later, our oldest somehow got to the other side of the river, and to this day I believe an Angel was sent to grab hold of her. A man came out of nowhere from the rustic banks. The problem with mountain rivers…they don’t really have too many stopping points. So, 11 years later, we braved Cherokee again. This time my husband and daughters (now 18 and 20), decided to go horseback riding in the national park (in the mountains). About 3/4 of the way through, my youngest daughter’s horse, who was positioned behind a limping horse, tried turning around on a narrow edge of the mountain. My daughter was so afraid she would fall off. This poor horse was apparently a runner and the guide knew that. But it was too narrow for the guide to come back. This happened again a few minutes later and this time the guide had room to come back and bring the horse up front to be tethered to his horse. Obviously my daughters protected both trips, but the outcomes easily could have gone different directions. Long way of saying, probably our last trip to Cherokee… but of course I am beyond grateful for the protection received. The quote at the end of the video is a Native American (Cherokee Nation) proverb….they are very in tune with the Earth 🪶

The music style with the banjos is a style that originated from the folk in these mountains (Smoky/ Appalachian Mountains). It is upbeat and joyful and a rich part of this region’s culture … it is called Bluegrass. I admit I am a sucker for small town charm. I greatly appreciate when people take the time to beautify the surroundings with the natural elements, local art, and culture. It brings me so much joy 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻. We did have to cut our trip short by a day, due to a hurricane/tropical storm that had the potential to stall over my little neck of the coastline and dump record amounts of rain. We also did not want to risk driving through it. We wound up being very fortunate in my immediate area, as in the middle of this tropical storm rotation was a dry air mass, that prevented us from receiving the forecasted 20 plus inches (51 cm) of rain over about 3-4 days…though we did get wet. Unfortunately, other areas were and will be devastated. Grateful for my area, praying for all impacted 🙏🏻. 🌻🌻🌻Sending you much Love, Joy, and Sunshine 🌻🌻🌻

@@smolquack The alligators are very commonplace in this area. I usually see them sunning themselves along the banks of the ponds. The sounds you hear are due to an unusually large concentration of birds in a relatively small nature preserve. I have another video coming out next week focused on the white birds in that center, more populated area, and they are definitely loud 😂, but so much fun to watch! I was told that an even better time to go is about an hour before sunset, so I’ll definitely make a point of that soon. Apparently different bird varieties show up in the evenings to claim their sleeping spots. Sending you many blessings from South Carolina 🌴🐊🕊️

Animals are amazing teachers!!! I think you know I do some volunteer work for our local sea turtle chapter. We have two sea turtle hospitals within a couple hours from us. I think anybody visiting coastal areas would have a new respect for how important it is to help do our parts (even just picking up one piece of trash could save a life), if they visited a marine life hospital and saw the devastation one piece of trash can cause to an animal. A couple of weeks ago I was at the beach when I saw a large group of people gathered, and I just knew they were about to release balloons in honor of a loved one. I wish more people understood and cared enough to honor in a way that doesn’t potentially cause harm to the sea animals. Anyway, I know you know all this and agree 😂. I’m glad you enjoyed this little scene. The lighting was amazing that morning! Much Love and Beauty, my friend ❤❤❤

Savannah is such a beautiful old city … in the US, we view this city as one that symbolizes what we call “Southern Charm” or “Old South.” It is a look, a feel, history, and some more-formal traditions. (And a lot of bloody history with so much of the Civil War having taken place here. It actually was said to have begun in my own town. ). But I of course prefer to focus on the beauty 🕊️

I should mention that this is a pretty famous park and fountain in the US…a lot of movie scenes have also been filmed here. This park is impossible to navigate during tourist season … so I don’t 🤣

So glad you enjoyed a little stroll through this gorgeous/ iconic park. Most of the trees are Southern Live Oaks, draped with Spanish Moss. They are quite a sight and make a gorgeous canopy, when lined up together.

Thank you. We love our almost 15 year old puppy 💕. We are very grateful for that day; it is one we will never forget. The sun was definitely hitting the water just right to reflect some gorgeous colors in moments.

The day was a magical and memorable gift, indeed 🙏🏻. Funny you mention the life jacket. Three years ago, we brought Piper in for his first doggy acupuncture appt. He not only came out of it better, but he was extraordinarily energized. The next day we decided to take the boat out. I completely forgot to put his life jacket on him. We stopped at an area for lunch and from a distance I noticed a teenage girl near our boat wearing a beanie style hat. She really stood out to me. Later, my daughters were sitting on our boat and she apparently approached them (not wearing her hat) asking to check our storage area, as apparently she thought she put her hat on the wrong boat. Had that DIVINE encounter not happened, we literally could have lost Piper to a drowning accident that day, because that triggered a reminder to me to put on his life jacket for the trip back. On that trip back, he was still high energy and dove into the water after a Dolphin, when I turned around for a moment to grab a camera. We saw his fluffy little frightened face peering above the water far behind our boat, saved by the life jacket 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
