Episode Description:
“Endbringer?” Rachel asked. Something in my body language must have tipped her off.
I shook my head, but I said, “Yes. Sort of.”
“Sort of?”
“An endbringer with a lowercase ‘e’,” I said. “It looks like Jack may have made his challenge to The Brockton Bay Book Club. It’s starting.”

😭I can't believe it, if felt like only yesterday we were on arc 1 and now we're already on Arc 25, oh how the time flies 🕙
@@ExtemporaneousnessOne Right?!
I'm surprised that you guys haven't cut the other Endbringers because I don't think they add that much to the story in the long run. If you need consequences for Behemoth being beaten then just have Leviathan and simurg ramp up their attacks so it's harder to fight them. Add mecha Leviathan sooner. Those are my two cents.
Regarding Cody. You can condense his part quite a lot. The important bit to hit here is how terrifying Simurgh truly is. It’s enough that he shows up, is recognised, and fucks something up, that’s it. All the inner thoughts and backstory can be thrown away, imo.
How dare you even suggest getting rid of Mouse Protector?
Giving Regent more moments risks making his death obvious and taking some emotional away, rather than adding it.
I regret slightly not starting with Ward now
I think having Behemoth on the smaller side is important, because it has to feel somewhat beatable AT FIRST, before the despair hits.
How can you move on from the Undersiders? I never moved on.
1:16:29 I mean, it’s been like what, two months since the start of the story?
@@couldntcareless7884 right?!
The only real reason to keep Cody is because it hints at the Smurf’s capabilities. And iirc, at this point in the story, the audience really has no idea what she is capable of beyond a story that Tagg brings up.
I was not a fan of the slaughterhouse 9000 either, wish they had tried something more interesting than cloning the bad guys so the enemies are more expendable. The S9 are my favorite part of Worm so I was thrilled they got so much coverage in the story, I just wish they had been taken in a different direction. Maybe the clones end up messed up or nonviable, Bonesaw and Jack Slash have a falling out , ending the S9 and doing their own thing. When they mentioned Bonesaw could build a perfect cape with other capes powers I was hoping they'd do something with that. I think a cooler idea than the S9k would be Bonesaw and Jack Slash head-hunting specific capes and adding their powers to themselves or someone else. Then Taylor could try to track them down. Maybe this would cut out the ward arc but that felt pretty in-and-out anyway. I don't know, I finished Worm a year ago so it's a little foggy and it's really late at night but I think Bonesaw building a super powerful cape would be really interesting. (Or giving angry non-capes powers? Plague that takes away powers?)
Hmm the biggest problem with cutting S9K would be that it also means you cut out Ashley from Ward. I doesn’t render the story completely unworkable, but it would be a major loss….
@@TalonOfoalain I have not read ward yet 😬
[from the first 30 minutes] the PRT purposely spreads disinformation about trigger events to maintain an image that capes are "safe", and also is run by capes who drank a cup-o-powers who actively tried to hide the fact that this was a thing - if it were widely known how trigger events work it would immediately out so many of the PRT who made up trigger events that don't even come close to aligning with how powers really work.
the scene with taylor reading rachel’s letter and how the letter was written reminded me of the meme “ride wife. life good. wife fight back KILL wife. wife gone. think about wife.”
1:00:37 For no particular reason (other than it being WBs best work) I would like to nominate Twig as the subject of your next podcast
LET THEM COOK!
I remember reading that Bambina’s aging was slowed, not stopped completely, so she may yet grow up
Oh let’s go 🎉
30:22 Taylor is the leading cause of death among the PRT directors in Brockton Bay. Singlehandedly making the occupation orders of magnitude more dangerous.
2:21:05 I would definitely listen to it.
1:01:54 garde? When the queen is attacked.
6:28 I’d add the cafeteria scene as well
Just started listening, I think it is an important callback for how Tagg died to recall that Dinah gave him like 22% odds to die screaming. This indicates one of two things, either (1) he wasn't choked, or (2) Dinah quietly realized he had a 22% chance to die screaming and 78% to die choking and just held that last bit to herself. **edit1** I'm an hour in and my google search is also not finding any chess references whatsoever, nothing. I'll be back to listen to the end after I complete this research. *edit2* regarding her rename, I always propose Flitter as her best possible new hero name. *Edit3* final edit (wanted to update as I listened) - I love how well done the Alexandria defeat is written, Alexandria fully believes she is reading Taylor, and Taylor is just getting colder and less emotional as she continues; so she thinks she has to really ratchet up the pressure to get a reaction - not understanding that she has already pushed her beyond her bounds and is about to snap. Skitter is ice cold, Taylors emotion is entirely expressed through her swarm, she didn't pick up on that fact and because she thought her reading was perfect she completely relied on it for her "path".
You can show the progression of time with a change of seasons. If it was summer when the story started, but now it’s clearly fall, time passed.
I mean, Bakuda made other people time travel as well, in a way.
I think the distortion grenade was from the Leviathan fight.
1h14m -- Accord and his wife Janet; given that Accords power is inversely powerful related to the complexity of the problem, wouldn't he actually be stumped by the "she is stealing my lunch" problem and therefore just listen patiently - with a slightly confused look on his face?
Unless he deliberately makes it more complicated for his power to kick in.
34:16 it’s not just that they revealed her identity, they went after her when she wasn’t Skitter is what she fixates on, I think.
What the fuck taylor is back!!! My comment was answered!
🎶More Worm The Musical 🎶
Near the start when you talk about WB and a sabbatical. One thing he talked about in a blog post is his work ethic (this isnt the word he used, but it encompasses many ideas). He writes thousands of words per day, when he writes he actually writes even if he doesn't feel like it, even if he is stuck, he just writes and keeps writing. He writes at a pace to get/keep at least 8 chapters ahead, so if something comes up he has a buffer to fall back on, then when it is resolved makes up the time. He recently completed "Pale" which was the 5th completed serial of a twelve year ish run, where he never had a break from his publication cycle. After completing this he took a few months off (sabbatical) it was his first real break in over a decade - though he obviously had individual days where he didnt write he kept his buffer intact and released chapters on time without fail. I don't know if this is well known? #CodenameAlan ((edit))
1:21:44 I was thinking the same thing from like, the Slaughterhouse 9. I want to write something like this at some point.
Didn’t Taylor conclude Dinah volunteered this information in this arc? From that interaction with Colin. It was left unsaid, but it feels like it was implied.
@@couldntcareless7884 a bit up in the air, but I agree
Greg gave the interview about Taylor, I believe.
What a fantastic episode, I was a little skeptical of the changes but hearing it all layed in its entirety really changes my perspective
Wildbow said one of his first iterations of the story was from Amy/Victoria’s point of view, but it didn’t have enough story there (I’m pretty sure I read it in the comments to one of the chapters). So, maybe that’s exactly what you do for one film. Follow Panacea and Glory Girl. Bring Guts and Glory to the screen. Because Worm isn’t tragic and traumatising enough as it is, so why not spend extra time exploring what drives a person to do one of the most f*cked up things ever?
Since they are a bit sidelined by the plot, and don’t make that much crucial decisions (for the plot), it would have to be a drama focused on characters and their relationship, culminating in them meeting again, after the time skip. But it can work, I think.
Oooh I love this arc, I am excited to see what you guys do with this! Especially with the clones and big reveal
I think it is almost 100% certain that Accord hired the villains that led to Blasto joining him. This was a very fun episode, thanks as always.
Fun fact: Most of the clones (though not all) are named!!! (People have figured that out from the name tags in the bottom of the chapters that the clones have shown up). You should look at the names when you get a chance, they're hilarious 😆
About Taylor’s second trigger. At some point, Echidna mentions that she can smell powers, and that they have different “intensity”. She mentions Grue, Eidolon and Skitter as having this intensity. Grue had a second trigger. Which invites a speculation: what if Taylor did as well? It’s logical to assume that intensity comes from a second trigger. Those were my thoughts about it when I read it anyway.
I think Watch Dog was mentioned in Ward
It was, one of the main team was a member of Watch Dog for a little while.
In Nilbog’s defence, he seems to be able to customise his creations, based on his interlude. So he may be able to make things uniquely situated to deal with Echidna/something she can’t really clone (something poisonous?). Though I’d still bet on Echidna in a fight.
What a great episode! I love the idea of sprinkling all the therapy sessions throughout the season
IMO people named Alan are always to be believed and trusted, though sometimes one of them might think the Undersiders would make great friends while another might say they disagree in a podcast or something. Jessica Yamada fan club forever.

@@thetower4th not sure why that happened. Fixed now

Fantastic episode, I will say maybe this arc could be like Gen V from The Boys, something to watch inbetween seasons In this hypothetical I could see a different animation studio do a mini season in a different animation style (assuming this is animated and we have the same studio doing all the seasons) If we do a different animation style for this “season” or collection of episodes then I have a good idea in my mind. When the simurgh is revealed she uses her physic scream and warps the episode to the original animation :D this will also show the audience just how powerful she is compared to her brothers We can Maybe more so show how Earth Alpha is different then earth bet culturally. Show more about the travelers pre endbrigner. Really get to know each of the members I would also love to see how this earth views bet and vise versa. This will really flesh out the travelers before the big event coming up and we can use the excuse of this arc being “optional” to view These are just my thoughts :D can’t wait to see what you have planned for next arc
1:01:43 huh… Matryoshka and Sveta are quite similar, how did I never notice?
1:00:19 I’m pretty sure she did, in fact, open a portal to one of Cauldron’s labs. All this case 53s had to come from somewhere, and it probably was the Cauldron’s facility.
