I always try to video not only the job in hand but also the unexpected difficulties that may arise. This is a prime example of unexpected problems!

brilliant video very informative, thank you
Does anyone know if the clockwise turn of the key activate a solenoid that allows the bonnet to fully release or is it just mechanical?
The bolts which go through the bushing are stretch bolts and shouldn't be reused. Re ususing them increases the chance of them snapping. Use new bolts and then use a jack to raise the axle to roughly where it would be once the car is on the ground with weight on the wheels. Then torque to 80 NM and then a further 120 degrees (to stretch the bolt).
Have same job on tomorrow thanks for the heads up
good well explained video..well worth the watching...thanx for taking the time to share to us DUMMIES.
The Good .. The Bad .. All well explained ..Cheers

👍👍 a well documented vid. it looks simple. ha but not. years of excpiriance helps. yes ur a1.
Common issue in scotand. I had a scottish mazda apart from the car rotting the brake pipes were shot. Sadly it went to the great scrap yard in the sky with only 80k miles on it 😢
To anyone doing this themselves, here’s a few tips that will make it easier for you. When you remove the 18mm nut, keep the 18mm socket on the bolt end and start wiggling the bolt out. You’ll get to a certain point where the bolt won’t have any play and that’s when you should slowly start jacking the spring up while continuing wiggling it out. If it loses wiggle room, lower it and start again and I guarantee you’ll get it off pretty easily. In the lowered suspension models the coils that are more clamped together sit at the bottom. When putting the new spring on, start jacking up under the spring until the first hole aligns nicely so you can insert the bolt, after you get the bolt in a few cm, go to the nut side and start jacking the spring up more until the hole aligns because this will definitely be too low. Once you get it aligned to the best of your ability, a couple hits of the hammer will get the bolt all the way through. You can trust me because I’ve had to take that bolt off 5 times as I had issues with the cheap springs I bought.
Old video but can I ask please what to look for with a visual inspection?
Very nice! I gotta do this job this week on my car. Great help this video
Nice one. Gonna give it a go 😁👍🇬🇧
Zaf Gsi with same problem. I will look for damp. These cars leak over time. Valve cover gasket always goes. You sort one leak and then another pops up. The joys of owning a ZED.
Thanks for the video really helped when I had to do the same job on my 3008
Hi what about 2016 5008 peugeot japan car back brake pads?
For the ball joint it's a 41mm
Thank you
Instructions that come with the lamp (bulbs grow) tell you not to touch the glass, all the crap on your fingers will knacker it.
Thank you so much 👍
When you flared the new pipe, after using the nipple which fits into the end of the pipe you then need to remove the nipple and tighten up the flaring tool -- just like you did with the first pipe -- and this will give you a double flare. Hope that helps.
Just a heads up..I've changed mine but it was actually my lock that was sticking..try to undo the 2 10mm bolts on the lock from underneath the car rather than destroy the lock cable as I did. Chances are it's the actual lock😮
Useful informative video - thanks. I have to attempt the same sort of job on the notorious rear brake pipe corrosion of a 2003 BMW M3 Convertible.
It's exactly as you say, at '16:54', it is corrosion build up behind the Abs sensor. It misaligned the sensor and when you put a new disc/hub on, it is then too close to thAbs pickup rings and just mashes it to bits. Try to remove the Abs sensor before fitting the new disc. Then clean the backplate of the corrosion behind it. Be very gentle putting new disc on if you have refitted the abs sensor. Or just Fit the disc then the abs sensor (It can be done?) 👍
Excellent video well done ,it just shows how the right tool is the way to go 👍👍👍👍👍
The reason why the 1st bolt, centre arm, is pointing down is, if the nut comes undone, the bolt won't fall out. Safety first. 😉
Thank you!!
Ex ellent video but i got yo the last bit, but when i turn the last bit of plastic it just turns and does not open the bonnett, any ideas
Always in pairs problem solved
Should have put a bit of heat on these bolts and you would have been ok
Great vid helped me with my 3008 thanks
COPPER grease DOES NOT go on the brake assembly where there is aluminium or any aluminium parts, and that caliper is aluminium. Because galvanic reaction will ocure where copper will greatly speed up aluminum oxidation.
This must be what's causing my oil leak, and intermittent oil light at idle. THANK YOU!
Nice one I done similar didn’t fully remove grill and put a flat bar against plastic bit and smashed off with hammer the knocked the bits out, and put a long Phillips screwdriver through the grill above ford badge to unlock
Thank you from Norway. Great info
Thanks very much you are a star 👊🏾
its an awful design, i have the exact same problem, a tiny coolant leak and a dumb American designed bonnet
Okay, I have a Mazda 3 2016 hatchback, and this happened to me, but when I turn on my high beams, the low beams come on. But if i try only turning on the low beams, they dont come on. Any ideas? Do you think it's the fuse box?
In practice it's easier to drop both brackets that mount to the under floor as its difficult to get the bolt through the axle bush and bracket on reassembly...why struggle trying to line things up when you don't need to ?
Push down on bonnet, turn key, lift, then turn opposite way,,works a charm
Just found out mine won’t open so found this video. Was just about to order a new locking mechanism after trying everything but I’ll give this a go first 🤞🏼
Well,did it work?
@@rasher6290 yes mate, was going to replace but it works fine this way-cheers👍🏼
@@dazhuddy glad to help😎👍
Brilliant Video Comprehensive man, well explained and well shot. It doesn't seem so daunting after watching this.
I was looking for tightening torques brake discs with bearings for Peugeot 3008 and ATE recommend 300 Nm - not to much?
Great video Just a quick question here, Would it cause any problem if you installed a pair of standard springs instead? or the car will just be 2-3 cm higher from ground? My car is Insignia 2016 1.6 CDTI just bought it few weeks ago and it's around 2 fingers from rear tires to arch and 3 fingers in front ones, it's a red colored springs not sure if that's a standard one, looks lowered to me, am I right? rear o/s is broken so I'm replacing both and replacing shocks as well.
Most basic cars have black springs so it’s likely it’s been lowered. Fitting standard springs wouldn’t change much as far as safety would go but car could feel more bouncy if you fitted a softer spring. However you should have the same type of spring on the same axle. Different springs on each side would = different ride heights and different absorption rates so car would most likely feel less stable and predictable
What's the ice cream van's adress?
Great video, well explained and demonstrated. Thank you very much pal!
