Some beautiful nuances that were very pleasing. Thanks for sharing.
Very useful advice! I hope more students would watch and appreciate your fantastic advice! Many many thanks to you!
Excellent advice, thank you!
This is the best video I have ever seen on this topic. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge!
Tank you so much for sharing!
Very good lesson. I have been trying to learn arm vibrato for a few months but I am having much better luck with wrist vibrato so I might stick with that for a while and see how it develops.
Play along: 7:57
Can I use this for my airshows all the credits will go to you.
@davidfore1809 yes absolutely. Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for this video❤❤❤❤. Im learning this one right now!! But its so hard😢😢😢😢!! Thanks a lot!🎉😊
Thank you! Best to you.
Can this really get fixed?. Mine is chronic and pretty horrible
Yes absolutely. If you're not seeing improvement using your current resources, please feel free to send me an email. I've assisted many in their journey towards being pain free. Best to you.
I’ve just come across your videos today and you’ve provided a real generous amount of helpful knowledge (born out of experience). Thank you for that. Like you mentioned, faster bow speed can play a big role in a good tone especially on the lower strings (ie. G, D). Even as an adult student, I’m still working on using a slightly slower bow speed on the upper strings (ie. A,E) while applying a bit more pressure on those.
@lagrega very glad it's helpful. Thank you for your kind comment, and welcome! Best to you.
Im learning this one right now, and the double stops are KILLING ME😢😢😢 Thanks so much for this video❤
Very interesting that you recommend starting in the fourth position. I am starting in the first and third position.
Yes, that makes sense - I saw your comment on the Danny Bow video. Arm vibrato does not require help keeping the wrist still, so I think it's better to learn arm vibrato lower than 4th position. The action is initiated by the bicep and tricep. However, the wrist vibrato requires movement above the wrist and stillness below the wrist, so I encourage the student to start in 4th position. Thank you so much, and best to you.
Nicely done. I will be watching your vibrato video next. I have been learning arm vibrato for about 4 weeks now. Slowly (very slowly) getting somewhere but not there yet !
Finally, after many searches, I found this video which capably demonstrates the look and form of moving the bow at different speeds- thank you for showing how the whole arm is involved in the process and not compartmentalized into only finger, wrist, or elbow movements. The movements you are demonstrating incorporate humeroscapular rhythm in which the shoulder blade follows the upper arm in its connection with the shoulder blade (also a part of our arm) after 30 degrees of rotation in any movement. Your arm is free and flowing with no breaks and the sound clear and vibrant. Some videos talk about a still elbow as the basis for all bow movement but this is not correct. What you show is the full range of motion which exercises, appropriately, all the muscles involved in moving the bow. Brava!
Thank you so much - that means a lot. I think the bow arm is very challenging in all stages, but especially to the self-taught or beginner/intermediate player. There is so much going on there, just to achieve a straight bow. Our body naturally makes arcs when moving, like swinging one's arms while walking, etc., so when trying to make a straight bow, it goes against all our natural instincts. It almost feels as if we're making a C shape to "cancel out" the natural arc we want to make. The elbow has to move laterally (first swinging in a subtle opening motion, then near the tip a subtle closing motion) as well as downward (if on the A or E strings) to follow the hand motion/frog descent. Most are not fully aware of all the movements the bow arm makes, especially in the wrist, elbow and shoulder joints. I appreciate your detailed comment. Best to you.
Very useful video, thank you.

Thank you for this very insightful video ! As a self learner at the violin, i really struggle with a lot of left hand tension which leads to tendonitis i need to get rid of 😅 Thank you for the quality of explanation and content you're putting on your channel 😊 (From Belgium!)
Welcome! And thank you so much for sharing. Best to you.
@@violindoctor2 I've applied the advice you've given in this video and already see results ! I have way less tension in my left hand and can play everyday for 30 minutes without any pain! So thank you so so much 🥰
You’re definitely the best teacher I’ve found out there. I think the way you explain things is really great…..thank you!!!!

This is so beautiful! I'm learning this song for a solo recital and your video has helped so much!
Very useful. I always play sitting down as I am exhausted after being on my feet at work all day.
Nice clean playing. This is how I want my version to sound... but I am not there yet ! Greetings from Cairns, Australia.

amazing playing
Thank you Violin Doctor. Finger pressure is sooooo important. I’m subscribed to your channel now!
Welcome!
has musette music?
Hi . Thanks for the videos . So beneficials. I’ve been practicing the wrist vibrato for couple of months and the problem is that when I’m practicing a scale especially on 3rd or 4th position, and when I do the vibrato with 80 rpm ( 4 in each click ) so my violin is shaking , which affects my bow and it bounces ( just the middle part and the other part is tight ) . So is it because I do it too fast and should practice with lower speed ? Or is there another reason to this ? Again thanks a lot for a good channel
This is great
Helpful! Is there a faster version?
Thank you. No, there's a slower version but not yet a faster one. Best to you.
I like the way you explain things. Very helpful. Thank you
Thank you so much. Welcome, and best to you.
This is a helpful tutorial unlike some where they play the scale without explanation or visual dipiction. Well done, much appreciated.
Hello teacher, i just started learning violin when i was 40 years old, what should i do first? Thank you

@DivoLakota thank you so much
The violin gives the sweetest tone of expression that I’ve never heard before. It just brings tears right to my eyes. I don’t know why but it does in a weird way and that’s one of my favorite instruments along with the flute.🫡
