Great video. T-43 days. Went to Alaska 3 years ago and will be back every year till money runs out or I’m in the ground.
Great adventure!
Stupid music
this is from 2014, it is different
from tisay von
new frend from tisay von
I too use to fly in...............until I dropped everything and just moved here at the last minute. Best choice of my life.
congrats! do you live in yakutat? after an 8yr break, i'm coming back up in Sept with 2 good buddies to hit the coho again! can't wait!
@@dougisnow Nope, I"m just out of ANC which is easiest for work. I use to fly in from "the outside" until I literally sold my 3x2 house in a month, filled my truck and just drove here, downsized to a condo and bought without even seeing it or being here. Call it crazy I know, but life is an adventure. The Reds are rolling in the Kenai now and Aug + will be good for the silvers........I'll save ya some. Have fun. Fish ON
Alaska,No place even compares! Simple!
Press play and in comes modest mouse, you know it’s going to be a good vid
Good video!! Well done!! However I was disappointed to see a large number of fish killed!!! Why dont ye practice catch and release?? Ye took a lot of fish home?
I think the limit per day was 4, derek and I fished for 5 or 6 days and caught and released EVERYTHING (appx 15-20 each per day). on our last day we kept a couple to take home...
WOW
Do you think you should leave a few for animals and other people?
caught and released all (maybe 100 total), we only kept 4 or 5 total
Do you say the same thing to commercial fisherman who catch thousands of pounds of fish before they even hit those rivers and streams?
Hi , if is not to much to ask , can you give me a location and info how to get there ?What is the location name ? Thank you in advance !
For the silvers like you see being caught, just get yourself there some time in later july-Aug and there are numerous locations like the ones you see. ...just get there, rent a car, and bounce around. When asked for fishing info, the people in AK are probably not like you're used to. They will tell you which locations are good at that time. There are also state websites with that info. I'm back watching all these in mid winter because i miss the summer activity so much.
Dude, your line control issues are epic !! Lol. Great video though. Love how those bright silvers just explode when first hooked up.
Ive been there earlier in year for halibut what part of september was this?
mid sept, peak of coho run.. and lots of pinks on even years.. i think halibut is good in sept too
Tosser
Im new to fly fishing I was wandering what flies were you guys fishing with
various weighted and unweighted streamers and even some surface flies. and coho like any color as long as it's pink :)
I just don't get the "music" in most of these videos. It adds... what?
Bad ass video with some beautiful fish nice work I liked and subscribed can’t wait to see more videos 🤙
You guys pay ur way all the way to Yakutat jjst to release ur catch??? Somethings wrong with ya haha
yep and yep!
Makes me proud to hear so many people luv this great state. I enjoyed your video and really enjoyed the ending where you showed clips of the state I live in , put some tears in my eyes. I luv Alaska
Instablaster.
Curious as to whether you guys were mostly swinging flies, stripping, drifting, etc., or a generalized mix of technique?
Looks like south beach
Any logistic advice for a trip like this? Id love to fish this part of Alaska but finding all of those small plane flights and lodging in that part of Alaska would be difficult.?
very easy because there are SOOOO many. AK also has the most licensed pilots per capita in the US. It can get very very expensive to go with lodges and fly-in's. There are a few lodges that are $2000+ per day! The least expensive way would be to research the fishing spots with campsites on fishing grounds (there are so many), then get yourself to ANC, rent a car to get yourself to those spots. Bring/buy a tent, of course. rain can last weeks at a time so be sure to bring a waterproof tent. tent campsites are generally $15/night across the state.
Jeff, that’s most of Alaska! Different world up here! Simple!
Are you Louie the Fish's son??????.Nice O'io!!!!!!.Tight lines and good fishing!!!!!!.
Nice!
The boat with no fish needs to steer the fuck away from the boat with the fish. People lack of common sense.
Good video. In that one section where everyone brought fish back, wouldn't it make more sense to clean them out down on the water instead of putting all the extra weight and taking up space on the plane? The fillets would probably fit into 2 average coolers or 1 large boat cooler
thx for asking. the prior group cleaned their fish on the river bank and that's why the bears were there, brave and hungry for more fish parts. not the best idea to leave food on a beach with bear around!
17:26 - Mayday Mayday! He took me down frog water! haha - awesome movie guys.
Can´t stop watching! great video! congrats!!
Awesome video!! Well done!!
Well done sir! Make it happen, get yourself back to the beaut. The Sleeping lady awaits! I haven't been back in 16 years myself, do not let this happen to you! Go
Looks super fun, good job on the vid. MF Doom, I like it!
the Yana was one of my favorite parts of that trip. Fun to see it again thru your eyes.
awesome video and superb fishing; well done! (should have started with this)
I've read and heard multiple accounts of bear mace being more effective than guns.... just for future outings... and it doesn't injure/kill them.... they just want some fish too
yes mace has merit: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bear_spray#Studies Some of the guys had mace, some had guns, some had both... the brave bear that approached us was looking for an easy meal (fish guts on the bank), but he was hardly phased by the shotgun fire (over his head).. i think if he had charged he would have run into spray and lead. best tactic is avoidance and don't bait them!
"No bear! Please... no bear" lol. What a fight that was! That's what we fish for.
Good game Good manners
was this on a guided trip?
no. self supported. diy style. rent a rig and a room and walk and stalk
What kind of setup do you guys run ?? Awesome video.
thx! not sure what you mean by setup, but if you mean rods & reels, mostly single hand 7 and 8wts, floating lines, pink streamers/clousers and wogs (surface). video setup was just gopros on chest and head mounts
Great trip wonder how much it cost to fish over there i need some of that please
for a week? several thousand at minimum. First is your airfare. Camping in tents and dry state campgrounds will be $20/night but they can fill up quickly. Food and other things will be more expensive than where you live. A non-resident fishing licence for a week is around $100 for the week which doesn't include King salmon for which you need to buy an additional stamp for the license. If you stay longer than a week, you should get the annual non-resident which is $145 plus another $100 for the king stamp if you need it. And you'll need to rent a car or RV to get around to your fishing spots
Mistake of the guy that was on Gaff. Too bad he didn't use a net. Hope the fish survived. Milkfish are on a class of their own. Will smoke a bone's ass any day. Well done to the team! :)
Wow david you are so butt hurt it makes me laugh!
Would never have guessed your age. That fish swam off to die and had it not swam off the decision to kill it, as you said on camera, was for bragging rights, two days casting is no excuse. Great video if you get rid of the beer, adolescent behavior, poor treatment of the locals and language. Not only giving fly fisherman a bad name but also personifying what the rest of the world has come to know as 'Americans'. Come to a strange place, abuse the locals and 'milk' the resources.
Mr Radcliffe, hopefully you're aware that hooking a fish is exciting (for the angler & his friends alike), and on occasion the excitement may elicit some profanities. Sorry to offend and tarnish any images. Perhaps someday you may have the fortune of hooking & fighting a special fish you've cast to for 2 days, on a fly you tied, you TOO may get a bit excited. & I've caught and released fish on the fly since I was 12 (so 32yrs) & never kill fish "for the sake of bragging rights". good day troll
Nice! What pattern were you using?
Nice lookin fish bud!
get a Abel or Tibor reel. :D
sweet powder turn
is this ala moana beach?
haha i thought the bonus would be a salmon or something
nic vid
