It's called Taranaki and Egmont is the name of the national park. I lived in Kaponga for many years. Some great biking roads !

Stratford is my home town. The mountain is called Taranaki 😊 Sorry you crashed on the gravel. Hope there's no real damage.

Thank you George for showing everyone our slice of paradise in the South Island! Lots of scenic roads and great bike riding weather for Spring season here in November. Canvastown was a major gold bearing area in the 1860's and the town name was because over 5000 miners were living in canvas tents for the years they chased the gold!... Was a pleasure to meet a fellow Guzzisti Nomad and have him stay a night to tell of his adventures.... Cod in Canvastown New Zealand

The Tasman Sea on the west coast can be as wild as the Southern Ocean to the south and east.

Q is the best

It gets wild and wooly on the West Coast, but it's worth the weather conditions to see the scenery.
