I get this is probably your style but showing restraint and keeping the verses simple but clean allows the other instruments and elements of the song shine through and when you add more detail in certain areas its picked up as a nice added highlight. If you add flams, ghost notes, extra bass pedal throughout, its too busy and all the dynamics get lost.

I totally agree with you. His drumming is incredible no doubt. I have been playing guitar/bass for 33 years and would love to have a drummer like him. But, he over plays too much and it takes away from THIS song. Great improv though.
