this radio has a HALF A WATT TRANSMITTER you may get a mile or on till your radio transmitter hit's a block wall then your out of range.
Can this radio listen to FM radio for music?
no you want listen to that BUY a FM radio these are transmitter's
@ or I can use any one of a dozen different models and brands of HT’s that I own that all have FM radio.
on family service the transmitter is for ever and will be set at half a watt radio ALL by it's self so you are stuck at maybe a mile or line of site gust rember THE F C C gave that game plan to all radio company's who build theese radios KNOWif you want to go long range then do what ever you need to do with that radio to make it work A PL tone needes to be put into your radio to make it talk to a radio tower then you get your licensee then you go from your mail box and the radio gives out but know your talking 20 miles I am W R X N 824 F C C call sign
But some FRS radios will do 20 miles. Not sure how so many people do not understand the advertised distances. They are not lying about the max distance, they simply know that people with knowledge know those distances are under the best conditions. Like if you are on a mountain with a clear line of sight to the other radio that is 20 miles away, then yes an FRS radio will do 10, 15 and even more than 20 miles. The distances advertised are always in terms of the best possible conditions. When you get lower and have objects between radios, they will get far less distance. There is also skipping, which you can read about yourself. But it when in the right weather signals can skip off the Earth and go thousands of miles away. It is very common on CB radio ad some of the HAM bands and shortwave.
@@chrisgullett4332 IF you have a half a watt transmitter in your hand there is NO WAY you will get more than a mile in town that is what the radio will do I OWN a G M R S radio with a licensee there is a secerit to get the radio to talk farther you need to make your radio talk to A tower I DO and I hold a FED. F C C radio licensee for G M R S that is how and why I can and do talk 20 miles everyday
Tight shit good job
rated at a mile on a half of a watt transmitter will make it to the mail box for shure
I could set you up with a 45 watt radio for your car and not a baby monitor
i got a pair of these so i could leave them in the trunk in case of emergency. quite honestly i'm not sure i bought the right thing. i don't need all these fancy menu options, just push to talk with long range. any users here have a suggestion for me to replace these with?
They are pretty simple and hold a decent charge when they are off. Motorola and cobra both offer those of course you’re gonna get what you pay for so always have to keep that in mind.
TALK to my friends at RUGGED RADIO thay sell every attachment you would need in store and thay build them and know them inside and out thay set me up with four base at 45 watts tuned and out the door with three hand held's set me back $ 700.00 just three hand held's with NO security codes thay work grate
Do you need a license to use this walkie talkie?
No you do not ,as far as I know anyway
G M R S is YES kiddy band family service is NO licensee needed 1 mile G M R S you are doing 20 miles so your licensee is the phone number for you radio cant call you if I don't know the number right
Anyone ever change the battery from the stock battery to three AA batteries? How can you open this walkie talkie? Anyone??? Thanks.
there is a pin behind the the top of the clip where you open the clip are company salved that problum bolt clip to battery pack works grate are clip is on the bottom
Nice
And conclusion was 0.4 miles when it's rated 3 miles?
Wasn’t great. Some of the commenters know a lot more than I do about them. I believe you’re going to get what you pay for. They have worked for what I use them for. I was hoping for more distance though.
@@akafletcherforever ok thanks for the video!! It's on sale at Costco for $79, and only intriguing part is the waterproof
@@akafletcherforever these radios are built under strict rules from the F C C as to watts on out put want distance get your F C C license for $ 35.00 dollars and go 20 miles I do that everyday.
How to turn it on??
@@glennjulien353 Is really simple and self-explanatory I can’t remember if you turn a knob or if it’s just a little slide piece but is really user-friendly. I’m sorry I can’t remember. I still have them but they’re kind of packed away again and I will get them out. Thanks for the interest. I will keep that in mind and future videos and make sure I’m more in-depth.
with this one its press and hold the M button for 5 seconds it shows a power button symbol engraved next to it
@@akafletcherforever you did this without reading the book I get guys like you every day of the week there's are short range radio's one mile what do you expect for $ 40. dollars
@donalderickson-si8ww I wasn’t really expecting nothing great with the purchase. I did not go into great detail reviewing the product before purchasing. What was on the box pretty much. The video was just kind of a fun experiment.
@@akafletcherforever since he has brain fog I would read the book
Thank you. Not many reviewers actually testing the distance and thats why im here.
the radio has a half of a watt transmitter
this is ot my first time cleaning up messes people make becouse thay did not read the book and not the box which are sails hipe the company I buy from builds real radios as there teck's and mine are used for off road toys yes water proof radios and my star radio is a 45 watt base and I do 20 miles as my radio's are programed to a tower near me.
@donalderickson-si8ww I’m starting to believe you’re a whole life revolves around handheld radios or are you just like a Google bot? Both videos I have on radios your commenting constantly correcting and telling everybody what they’re doing wrong, don’t get me wrong. I love to learn new things, but we all these are on the lower end of radios more so for novice users. I’m just curious to why you’re so committed to these comments sections. Of course I bought them to get some use out of, but I didn’t buy these >$100 radios , With the intent of setting out repeaters and connecting to some 150 foot tower with “permission” I appreciate your knowledge though and you probably know more about walkie-talkies than anybody else I’ve ever met and that is impressive, seriously.
@@akafletcherforever I am on my second year on my licensee I first cut my teath so to speak on C B radio and got over mike shieness
If family has little children it may be protection from something more sinister and dark
They don't gift unless they see kinship and they want to provide protection
just like humans, there's bad and good
I don't think Bigfoot is anybody friends.!!!
If he stepped outside the metal car his distance would have been a little better.
that is very true the car block's signel along with block walls
you cant talk out of a tin can
Wrong info. By the very limitation of light traveling in straight lines, you will have blind spots at key spots in your car rear view mirrors field of vision. Don't be stupid, add secondary blind spot mirrors and see the difference yourself.
It’s not wrong information,I’m not saying blind spots aren’t a thing, but adjusting your mirrors right does eliminate those areas, you still have to use common sense and know your surroundings …..
HU is the best.

Yeah me too,Hollywood Undead has a lot of good songs.

I continue to communicate with the customer, while I'm waiting for the order at McDonald's. They extend my delivery time and that helps a lot.
Cool video.
Thanks!
most people don't really need them they are just lazy
Exactly, I was shocked at how many of those were riding around in Walmart my mom she had to literally wait at the door for someone when they was returning it and most of the people on them shouldn’t have been most were just overweight and not to the point they couldn’t walk. They were just lazy and most were not even that old. It’s sad that something is simple as a motorized cart for people that really need them, Can’t even be used with common sense.
I have a set. The batteries don't last more than a few years and replacements are difficult to find. The ones on amazon suck.
you need to buy rechargeable batterys at the store I have battery packs and I have three back up's for when I am on a all day event back up.
Just use some reliable AA batteries
I'm getting cobra CXT385 in 3 days so excited
I tryed to up them on some things thay print on the box even told them I have a licensee thay hung on me and that is the way I left it.
yes I have bad blood with both cobera and Midland we are in a e mail ware as of today.
If you do it on an frs channel it transmits at .5 watts. If you redo the test on a gmrs channel it will transmit at 2 watts.
that is wrong that radio work's at 5 watts on g m r s channels then you will average 20 miles off one repeater alone I do 6 cover three county's and yes I have a license to do it
Ipoooo
What gear were you driving?
Gear or year?
stop moving the camera so much
slow down the camera we are getting dizzie
Dude I've been there in wet April. Brutal.
Bro drifted a lawn mower, at 1mph max
😂
That should have been common sense
Gotta push and pull that left lever, unless it’s wet which based on the length of the grass it will be slippery.
I had two of these each month when I did landscape work. One was the exact same, the other had a drop off into a 10 foot pond right at the bottom. Fuck landscaping lmao.
Damn, Yeah, what’s at the bottom definitely plays a factor on what I would do lol
I'm sure you're a pro and do whatever you know you can do with the machines but I'll never do a bank mow like this on a rider. I know someone with a missing limb from a roll over and two that have died from a roll
That’s awful,luckily I’ve never rolled one.
@akafletcherforever stay safe, people don't think about how property maintenance can get.
I’m not doing that type of work anymore, I totally agree I’ve known people I swear that would rather roll the machine, than trim a 10 x 10 area.
all family service radios are short range radios 1/2 watt will get you maybe two miles depends on ground cluter I use the gmrs side I can talk through six repeters in are systum also owen a license
That has to be scary
Try doing it with a drop off into a pod at the bottom with zero flat ground 🤣 I’m never doing landscaping again.
Have to go a little faster and lean upward
That’s the shittiest zero turn I’ve ever operated. I hated that thing. It was a Grasshopper I believe.
Icic we like to use gravely
Exmark would be my favorite of any of the ones I’ve used, i’ve never operated a Gravely.
They are affordable and made to last as long as it cuts good lol
great sighting, thanks for posting. There have been hundreds in the last few weeks!
Hello Sir. What charging port is here installed? Micro USB or Type-C? Thanks!

@@Everydazedcould you check it? It seems like micro-usb oldest model
It’s micro-usb
There should be a minimum on all orders. People shouldn't be able to order something for $5 and then not tip and expect somebody to want to come deliver it to you their gas cost more than that
DD is considered a luxury not a necessity I feel like it should be 4$ tip minimum to use or raise base pay which I know is not going to happen,I’ll get offers for 2$ and it’ll be 10 miles away, theirs no way I’m taking that. If I see an order where I’m going to make 10$ for 4 miles,I’m going to make sure everything goes smoothly because I appreciate them, to the people that don’t tip it’s hard to even want to speak. You better believe people are going to work the system.
I was ride sharing for awhile becuase it was a flexible schedule thing, but damn the money was so bad for the wear on the car, not worth it. They was pocketing like 75% of the fare like wth?
I agree a lot of it is pretty shady. It seems they want you to keep your acceptance rate above at least 50% but they push you for 70% then they flood you with two dollar orders that I just can’t make myself take.
One thing I’ve noticed that if I take a shitty order as my first order of the day, it seems like I typically have a pretty good day if I turn them down it’s like it’s slow all day but I just can’t take a two dollar order I do catch myself taking a four dollar order every now and again if it’s like a mile
I got a pack of these colorful cobra radios on sale at walmart today. We already have some proper GMRS handhelds (compatible with regular walkie talkies) that tested fine almost a mile, into a grocery store behind big freezers and metal bakery ovens. Also our "good" radios lit up a GMRS repeater on a tower maybe 15 miles away with a clear signal report. But with these cobras being on sale I just had to snag some. I'm thinking use them as spares and short range loaners when camping friends forget to bring theirs. It's encouraging that you got as far as you did. FCC compliance documents from cobra's testing lab claimed only about a quarter watt, which kinda made me wonder... Still need to test mine outside though. When it comes to range, radio marketers stretch the truth. And that's saying it politely. To get 16 miles without a repeater, at least one of you needs to be on a mountain or grain elevator or something. 30+ miles like some models claim? Only if two mountain summits are involved.
We use to set up repeaters when I was Seismic Surveying especially in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado ,we also used them in flatlands, after that I started doing conventional surveying but we never used repeaters for gps, someone explained to me the reason why we didn’t use them but I want get into that. The batteries I noticed on them didn’t last long so I ended getting some Motorolas t800s I believe, you charge them instead replacing batteries. I wish they came with both. I’m sure some do.
NO when you set your radio to tone with the repeter you in AND donot for get the license
I hope you have a G M R S licensee for them that is the only way way you will get 30 miles
