Albert Lee & Peter Asher's fantastic version of Handyman

If you get a chance to see these two in concert, go! Taken at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival August 2016.
Rick Springfield is the VERY BEST ROCK STAR SINGER SINCE THE 80S. LOVE ❤️ RICK SPRINGFIELD. HE IS MY BIGGEST ROCK STAR SINGER. ❤. HE WILL ALWAYS BE MY #1 ROCK STAR SINGER
I drove Rick around when he came to Edmonton. Took him to the hotel, Starbucks, the venue, airport etc. Very down to earth guy and a huge Beatles fan so we had a lot to talk about. His bandmates were a lot of fun as well.
❤❤❤
Great. Albert's voice is strong. ❤
what the fuck did Peter Asher do, nothing.......and the other guy sucks...good thing Asher at least signed James Taylor, someone with talent...
Jammed with a friend of Alberts named Carmine in Arizona years ago. Seems Albert is truly a very good guy in real life. Also, a kick ass guitar player! Burlington Bill singer songwriter busking from the road and home.
ONCE A BAD ASS..ALWAYS A BADASS..!! THANK YU DON..!!
This man is a guitarist extraordinaire. However, it seems very awkward, his playing this sans Joe Walsh. It's like "Don Felder's Greatest HIt."
All this needs to make it better is Joe.
i love his style....i am blown away
I love Albert Lee!
He is one of the best singers of all time!
Never too late… Was this recorded with a phone or camera? Looking great on my iPad @1080P
iPhone SE. Not too fancy but did a great job.
@@JBC321 Promising, as I just ordered the new iPhone SE yesterday. I have always been a fan of Sony phones, but found it is time to change my 4 year old phone, and try a phone from Apple. Thanks for answering my question! 😊
Dope!
Don Felder always seems like a genuinely nice guy. It is shameful how Henley and Fry treated him.
He OWNS this. He is amazing.
Don Felder is AMAZING. PERIOD.
Wow what a Tone!
Loved reading his book “Heaven and Hell.”
Me too, it’s really good!!!
I just listened to your guitar there, it put me right back to where I was in my head when the song first came out. Thank you for that intimate moment, between your guitar and my ears say thank you to LOL
Don felder and Joe walsh give the eagles that hard Rock edge
❤❤❤
Got the huge honour to meet you in Midland Ontario Canada.I keep finding your work all. Over the internet and will always be one of your greatest fans.
Albert the great
For me he is the greatest guitarist 👍
He is.
great player, singer and songwriter
Cool seeing Peter playing the P-bass. Maybe next time they'll actually plug it in !
Ha
It was plugged in ... If you watch till the end you will see that he pulls out the connector 😀
Don is class......as a musician and a person.
Did chicks attacked you after that?
Saw Albert for the first time a couple of weeks ago not sure how I have not had him on my radar all these years?
First time hearing this song, so glad I came upon it, lovely 😊👍
OMG😍,Awww💞 I love this!!! Get to know the secret = P r o m o s m!
Cute!
Bloody marvellous. Downunder South Australia
😵💫🤢
That was amazingly good!
Very damn good. Loads of talent out there.
Can't beat a James Taylor arrangement & it didn't quite.
Lovely Albert.
Otis Blackwell, the same guy who wrote Fever and Don’t Be Cruel among many others, back in the 1950’s.
Great song, great job.....although I personally like a slower tempo with this song.
Many people will remember this as being a hit for Del Shannon . More history on the song can be found here . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handy_Man_(song)
Let's set the record straight on this one. First I just love the way Albert & Peter played this song, but this is not a James Taylor song. This song was originally recorded by Jimmy Jones in 1960. Yes, JT did record this song and I love his arrangement of this song. Now many people will think of this as a JT song because they have never heard the original recording. Their ignorance does not change the facts or the truth of the matter. Please due your research and get the whole story prior to giving one artist credit where it is due to another artist. Just for the record I love JT's version of the song and I also love Jimmy Jones version that I remember from my youth. Please, due your research! Since Albert Lee & Peter Asher are contemporaries of mine I can tell you with absolute certainty they have both heard the original of this song and the original arrangement is the song that inspired this arrangement. The original also as the inspiration for James Taylor's version. Great song & I love all 3 versions!
Always thought that Handyman was a JT song. Never knew it was a cover.. Thanks for setting the record straight.
Del Shannon did a version too.
@@lornestein7248 I only knew this as I was born in 1951 and remember the song from my childhood. I'm going to guess you were born after 1960.
I made note of the original writer (Otis Blackwell) and singer (Jimmy Jones) in an earlier reply. I also noted that Peter Asher explained the origins of the song and that, while JT's version is he most well known, it was in fact a cover.
My cousin still has his original Jimmy Jones 45 single on the old MGM yellow label. He was around thirteen years old when he bought it with his pocket money in the late fifties.
Asher's bass is about 8 levels too loud. Ruins the song. Albert Lee, who is one of my favorite guitar players, does a really good playing and singing.
Had an Albert Lee cd from the eighties I think. Might have been called Boulevard cant find it x
That might be self Titled, I have the album, If memory serves he went on tour with Clapton instead of promoting his album which i thought was pretty darn good
The other early Albert Lee album I believe is called Hiding, again im working from an old memory so forgive mistakes, he went on to do some really good instrumental albums and than tour with Hogan's Heroes playing some old favorites which made it to CD , if you go way back he was with a band called Head Hands and Feet ,really good stuff that I felt should have been a household name but again they were studio guys that had other obligations, if you ever see Old Soldiers get it you won't be sorry.

I love this kind of stuff. Music stripped to its soul. Albert and Peter playing a James Taylor tune.
th-cam.com/video/CKpbNvDg6zY/w-d-xo.html
it's a cover by taylor...
Another Otis Blackwell tune - great song! Well done here of course!
I do NOT hear Albert sing very well. He is a top level guitar player, but not singer.
Reading the posts here, your opinion on Albert’s singing is deservedly very much in the minority.
I never knew Albert Lee was such a good singer - always knew he was on of the best guitarist on earth, but he can really sing.
yes check out his solo album of many years ago...
Seen a few of his concerts. He is an outstanding singer.
I know, I thought exactly the same thing. Regardless, he is a treasure ❤️
Klasse !!!
Does anyone know what kind of guitar Albert is playing?
It appears to be a Martin 00
@@ogri214 Thank You very much
Huss & Dalton T-0014. Great instrument.
He's a guitarist not a bass player
Bass is way too loud!!
No it isn't.
