Aftermarket Seat and 6pt Harness. Is it worth it? C5 Corvette Installation.
I’m confused, you kept say 8 but that appears to be 7?
I was kind of hoping that those alignment marks you were talking about on the gears were a little more visible😢 seems to be a lot of different marks on those gears and they're not synonymous in manufacturing
Where did you get a RHD Silverado?
The license plate says Texas 😂😂😂
Wast of time watching this shit..
Great Great great job! 99 Silverado Vortec V8. Same issue
Isnt the fault in these kits that you have to assume one side is perfect? Makes no sense.
There is a calibration that needs to be done so the new actuator can re~learn.
Even on the 99 silverado without the auto temp control?
I did it with 7/16 instead of a 5.5.
7/32
7/32 close to 5.5 mm works in a pinch good video
I did it. Thanks to this video. It was really an easy process. I 👍
I'll be your friend. ;)
You need to calibrate it before using.
At least you didn't drop a valve onto a piston at the bottom of the stroke.😊 That's what I was thinking was going to happen.
I need to flush the 23 year old brake fluid anyway so im planning on rebuilding the brake calipers, sandbasting them, then repainting them.
Great video. Sorry about Harry he seemed a cool dog.
Nice vid
Glad you got it straight…my Z06 was built right in the middle of the “valve spring” problem window…the older the car and I got the more I was worried about the problem. I’m perfectly capable of doing the job…but given my advancing age and waning patience levels I for first time since I bought the car new in 2002 I sent it out to a Corvette specialist in my area…The car was gone two days…they did a beautiful job…the reason I sent it out was as you showed us shit happens to everyone no matter the experience level. Thanks for being willing to show your mistake…not common on TH-cam
Good info, thanks for posting.
You didn't even clean the caliper before putting it back together?
are you adjusting both driver and passenger side tie rods? what about your steering wheel locked into position? sorry about your furbaby. Rip..
Taking my C8 out in December good info here thanks.
Do you lubricate the dust boot and/or piston? Or just lubricate the inner seal? And I've read of people saying to use assembly lubricant instead of brake fluid.
Five hundred dollars will get you a better radiator🤑 don't do this mod, your car will look like a pontiac grand am😮
Question, for the horn, the wire doesn’t pull when u make turns?
Ha ha Thanks for the help in return we call them 5.5MM "SAE 7/32 "
Thanks for the video. Great info.
Can you post where you got the parts? Part numbers?
It takes a lot of guts to post your own mistakes in a video. But this video will definitely help others not make the same. So I appreciate you kind sir we’ve all been there for sure lol
I just want to say, I hate you for not needing the wheel puller haha. I swear, either Mickey Mouse put these on at the factory, or King Kong did. There is NO in between hahaha
wouldnt it still be possible for it to be aligned but the wheels still be like this / / ? front and back would have the same distance, but how do you get it to not be crab walking
Yes, but in this certain case I knew the drivers side was a good measurement so I only had to adjust the passenger side. That being said, you would do a string alignment by running a string from the rear to the front. One full turn of the toe arm produces a noticeable movement so the string alignment would get the wheels straight, then the toe plates would give you the refinement you would need.
God Bless you Harry, Rest In Peace
Thanks mate.
Love these videos. Please keep the c5 videos coming!
Nice run!!! Love that track now I want to do it backwards also!!!!!
You could have just pushed up the piston to the tdc on each cylinder and saved a lot of time.
Nice video. I'm going to be using most of the same parts. The template idea is going to be helpful.
Part numbers please
They are on rockauto just ordered mine. Like $8 a caliper
Where can I find the parts for the inner gears for the actuator
Ok..on all videos I've seen..no one ever shows what position that the air is on when putting the mode actuator on..I notice on the mode actuator there are 3 markings..and the new one set in the middle. So then..what do you turn the air on..(vent, floor, defrost) before you plug the actuator in..
I think I know what you mean and if I'm remembering right, I had a hard time with that too. I don't remember what setting I had to have to get everything aligned correctly, but there was a lot of trial and error. It was a PITA 😅
I've been digging for the last 24 hrs for info to put mine back together. I removed the actuator off the cam and the cam off the blower box so all my alignment is screwed up...Anyways I saw another video where a guy installed a brand new delco actuator with cam and he said you need the mode set to "face vents" for it to be properly calibrated when you plug in the new actuator out of the box...
I’ve never seen anyone really remove it either. However, it is my understanding that the selection switch should be set to the middle position or straight up. I have to do this repair for my brother in law and I’m certain to f it up and never hear the end of it
@@scottbeavers1713did having the switch in the middle work?
I'm not very clear, was the a/c resolved I've watched many videos that recalibrate the actuator! Did you get lucky and bypass that step?
Hey, did you use factory ECM for a tune? Car sounds and looks great!
Thanks! Yeah, it's on the factory ECU tuned with HPTuners.
Sweet video just found this channel I own a silver C5z subbed what spoiler is that if you don't mind sharing ? Also how do you like your Quick Jack's which model are they ?
Spoiler is the Spec Corvette one, I have a video of the install too. More for looks than function, but I love it. The QuickJack is the 7000lb one. It's nice to have it work for my Silverado 1500 (~5500lbs). It's awesome to have but they are heavy! I hang them on the wall with some DIY holders.
pքɾօʍօʂʍ 🙂
just curious, what kind of quickjack do you have? considering the 7000 because it seems to be reinforced and heavier duty (more of a safety thing) vs. the 5000
It's the 7000. I like knowing it has the higher weight rating and will lift the Silverado if needed.
cubic inches?
Just a tickle over 350. The block was only bored 0.005 over so barely worth noting.
I'm glad to see you getting back out on the track. Keep up the good work!
I'm guessing the compression tester hose used for this was from Harbor Freight? Happened to me when doing my motorcycle. Snap On compression tester hose, no issues.
I don't remember but it was a cheap one! Good to know though.
Great video. I've just gotten back into HPDE after a decade-long break. I've spent quite a bit of time at TWS (moment of silence), Hallet, and MSRC. I haven't made it to ECR yet. Looks like a fun track. Who was running the event?
I never got the chance to run TWS (moment of silence), but ECR is a lot of fun and the new track being built out by Anna looks awesome! I'm not sure they'll let HPDE on it yet, but surely down the road. I instruct with Apex and love that they have single day events. I normally work weekends so single day events are what I look for.
Cut bumper? Not good.
Yeah, it's not for everyone, but it made a big difference to my oil temperatures at the track so I'm glad I did it!
I did this to mount a trans cooler. Wish I'd mounted it somewhere else!! Oh, it works fine, real good, actually. It seemed like a good idea at the time. But I'd never recommend doing this mod to anyone. Too much carving up of a lot of things. Personally, I do like the way it looks, though......
What cam did you install thanks
It's a EPS custom cam. The original engine builder spec'd it for a NA autocross build.
any on track eval yet, Bernie?
Not yet, next track day is August 20th!
Sounds fantastic with the cam, glad you got her back running!
Thanks! I'm glad she is back and love the way it sounds!
