House on Meadows
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 13 ม.ค. 2024
I learned how to stretch a dollar while I was a young mother of seven. I homeschooled my children for over 14 years and loved every minute of it! I learned how to make homemade food, sew our own clothes and live below our means in order to save money. It was challenging at times but I love a good challenge! These days, I am returning to those old ways of dollar stretching in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and stay out of the stores as much as possible. We all have to shop! But with a little bit of effort, we can shop less!

I'm watching your video to try and motivate myself to start making the rest of my pumpkin puree to freeze, and then I need to motivate myself to can up all the tomatoes I shoved into our deep freezer. Ugh! I'm canned and preserved out, I think. LOL!! But your house looks super cute. I think you are way more organized than me. I'm decent enough, but could probably do better. I do know where everything is at, though, so that's good, ha ha. Oh, I'm super excited, I grew my own popcorn this year, so I'm going to see if it actually pops. If not I'll just grind it into cornmeal.
@@Becky-tp7gm I suffer from a lack of motivation all the time! Some days I roll up the sidewalk and don’t get an awful lot done. And I’m learning that’s ok! I always ask the Lord to lead me each day and I try to remember to give Him control of my days. I’ll get a lot done and then get nothing done lol! It’s a lot of work to make a home! No, you are soo not alone, LOL! I grew up in a Christian home, but they were fresh Christians, and even our church, would do halloween parties. Looking back I'm totally disgusted about it. But anyway, we didn't think twice about it, it was just a fun day to go dress up and get candy. I think my parents are still very ignorant to the goings on that happen on this night and the 30th. Also, my grandparents had scotch-irish roots, and my grandmother was supersticious about things. She and Grandpa did become saved, but those things are brought down from generation to generation, and it sometimes mires decendants down into it. My mom still doesn't like black cats, which is totally ridiculous, and she's a born again Christian. I'm so blessed that God just cut me off from any of that, I know it's done out of complete ignorance. So anyway, fast forward to about 13 years ago, I did let the kids trick or treat, but I think I was kind of trying to justify the situation, I knew it wasn't right deep down but kept it up until, well, one day an article came up on a Christian website that I was reading, and there was an article on halloween, and it talked about the witches wheel, all of the traditions, like you said, bobbing for apples, the carving of jack0lanterns and what that meant, it was totally in depth, was probably like 5 pages long, and after I read that, I was like "Nope, we're done" and we were. I think God was giving me that extra push to get away from it. And let me tell you, it was the most liberating thing ever. Now the 31st is just another ordinary day to me, I don't even go into town, because I don't want to even see the death worship. My daughter is making sure that the grandbabies have nothing to do with it also, which makes me so relieved and happy. I just thank our good Father in Heaven that he dealt with me and made me put an end to it.
@@Becky-tp7gm we have a lot in common. Thank you for your candid honesty! It’s very encouraging to me! When our flesh wants something, it isn’t difficult to find ways to justify whatever it is we desire. This darn flesh! Thank you for sharing your story with me!

I whole-heartedly agree with you. The economy is going down, regardless of who gets in. Honestly, I think 95 percent of people have no clue of what's really going down. Some may have an inkling, but, most people don't fully get it. People don't do enough research. My husband and I are amping up our preparations, and no matter who gets in we will continue. I assure you, inflation will not be going away anytime soon. Things are going to get much worse. I'd almost go as far as to say we are on the cusp of a depression, and it's going to make the Great Depression look like unicorns and rainbows. Oh man, that bread was really good by the way, I'm going to have to make more😂

4 cups of water 1 cup whole powdered milk(not low fat or nonfat) Add to crockpot, put on lid and turn on high. Let cook until temperature reaches 181 degrees. Then turn off crockpot. Let cool until temperature reads 110 degrees. In a small bowl, add two heaping spoonfuls of good Greek yogurt that has probiotics in it. Add a little of the milk to it and stir it up. Then add all of it to the crockpot and stir. Cover the yogurt in crockpot with tinfoil and then replace the lid. Place the bowl of the crockpot into your oven, set on warm, to sit overnight. This is a good, draft free place for the yogurt to incubate. Leave it in there for about 10 to 12 hours. Strain it lightly. Then refrigerate it. This yogurt can also be used as a sour cream substitute. I appreciate this recipe so much , since can put together my own yogurt and flavor it as I like! And the best part is, it’s made from shelf stable products!
I'm a tour guide as well, so I know about choosing words careful! I understand where you are coming from. There is still a lot of misinformation about Tituba. We can't really know for sure how the girls found out about fortune telling and dark arts practices. But during and after the indian wars, there was much material printed on the subject matter, as people looked forward to the future to figure out if life would get any better. The dark arts went against all of their religious teachings, but I guess desperation will drive people to do things that go against their beliefs. Anyway, i sure am glad that their harsh brand of christianity, that particularly harsh misunderstanding of scripture, is over.
Oh it’s good to meet another tour guide! How fun!
I just returned from a trip to Salem in Sept - not AS crazy but still that super dark vibe. We did not feel comfortable with the darkness. Like you, I love history. We went to all the witch trials sites, including those that were in Salem Village ( now Danvers, MA.). Tituba wasn't a servant. She was enslaved. Historians are trying to correct the old narrative - they say she was a Christian. The fortune-telling practices did not come from her. Much of these things were on the rise since the Induan Wars. But I do believe the dark arts were an open doorway to evil influences. Thank you for sharing
Yes. A slave. My years as a tour guide have me using words that are more acceptable to ppl lol. I suppose that is still a part of me. I studied something different about Tituba. That’s strange. Hard to know what’s correct though after all this time.
You’re welcome! I’m so glad to share things with ppl and I’m so so happy to learn from others! Now I want to learn from more sources about Tituba! Thank you💚
Charles I was England's king in 1640 when Bridget Bishop, first to be hanged, was born (she emigrated to New England in the 1660s). Charles' father, James I of England and VI of Scotland, was obsessed with witchcraft and demonology. Shakespeare wrote 'Macbeth' with this in mind. It had infected the whole country. Also in England, Alice Nutter (died 20 August 1612) was an English Recusant noblewoman accused and hanged as a result of the Pendle witch hunt. When people who don't know Jesus, and only know legalism, take over, then begin the crucifixions. The northern English city of York, famous for its medieval street 'The Shambles', has also been infected with the witchcraft bug. There are at least two shops there full of 'Harry Potter' and occult merchandise. Glastonbury, in the south-west of England, is another occult 'Mecca', Horrible.
First, you went in October, it’s busy bec of Halloween. Also, something positive is people won’t forget this happened but, they won’t know this much information. History repeats itself. You’re a great story teller ❤
You’re right! October! Gah… I saw posts of the Main Street yesterday and it’s even worse this week. Yes history repeats sadly. Thank you,, I try to give a good account of what I know but at my age, I sometimes forget the key words I wanted to use, like, superstitions,, and legacy lol
I love history too! The Salem Witch trials are really interesting and infuriating and sad all at the same time. The land grab has had me questioning what was really going on there, and I really want to do a dig on who the governor's descendants are, and if they are in govt. today, and also who the descendants are of others that were doing the putting to death of these innocent people. My brother who loves history, has a book about that that was written a while back, I have yet to get it from him, but it seems to peel back a whole other "layer" to the onion. Yes, it is really troubling how people can get caught up in things that are totally unbiblical, due to ignorance and lack of discernment, and reading of the bible. Have you looked into the witch trials in Europe? Talk about a huge mess over there! A good book to read is Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds. It has a huge segment on the trials over in Europe, and also a segment on Tulipmania, where tulips became like money, until they didn't, and created a huge economic mess in Holland. Crazy!! It's a bit of a read, but you can pick and choose which chapters you want to read. I haven't read all of them, I'm too busy right now, LOL! But the witch situation Europe was an interesting read. I also heard that during the plague over in Europe(bubonic), they started killing all of the cats because they connected them with witches, but the cats were eating the rats that were carrying the plague, so because of all of the cats being killed, just caused the plague to spread more, causing a huge amount of the human population to be die off.
@@Becky-tp7gm I have heard about the cat killings! Isn’t that crazy?!?!! I will have to look into the books you’re talking about! I need to know more! You’re right,, it sure would be super interesting to learn who their descendants are and if they’re in office wouldn’t it??

Wow! I'll have to get that book! This doesn't surprise me, because, just a few weeks ago, we were watching a documentary on the Amityville "horror house" and ok, yeah, a guy killed his family in it, but it was never haunted, the whole thing about the haunting turned out to be a complete hoax. But they've made how many movies on it, made tons of money. There is an actual family living in it today, and it's totally fine. People are so gullible.

My husband and I were discussing this early this morning. I think that God is helping us see that though we are in this world we are not of this world. Our salvation does not come from any politician, country, or system. Unfortunately we have to see things get really bad to be able to separate ourselves and stop clinging to worldly "saviors ". I too have watched too much of what is happening in Israel. The biblical implications seem to be all lining up. Who knew we would be chosen to live in these times?! I felt called recently to read Psalm 91 every day. It is helping with the anxiety that world events bring. I also have made myself step away when it gets to be too much. To pray, exercise, play with the dog. We aren't meant to be submerged in all the world's suffering 24/7. I hope you'll take some time for that autumn movie today. These aren't our burdens to carry. Yes! I will wholeheartedly agree with you on the fact that it is really sickening that we are giving money to all of these countries overseas, and all of these wars are taking precedent over our own people here in the South. Just goes to show our govt. doesn't care a bit about us. Both parties are just a different wing of the same bird. Yes, there is a real "cult" going on on both sides, it's very disturbing to see people putting up another human as if he were God. I think people really need to research both candidates, and will see both are part of a certain "club" . Yes. follow the money. Sadly, this country was lost in 1871 when we were made a corporation unbeknownst to most Americans. The final blow was the formation of the Federal Reserve in 1913, which is not even "federal" but is a private entity. I'm sure you probably already know all of this, but it's truly sad, they've had this planned for a very long time, and it's fact, not conspiracy. They are just moving faster now, on bringing the country to it's knees, and sadly, every president is bought and paid for these days. My vote is to not vote. I can't in good conscience vote for a lesser evil. I know too much, I just can't. I've studied and read history for the last 17 plus years, when I started to "smell a rat". I've dug and dug, and always get to the same spot no matter what way I research. Everything always leads back to the same families with lots of power and money. Nothing is as it seems. I hope I don't get flack for this. We'll have to agree to disagree. It's everyone's choice to do as they see fit. I'm not judging anybody, that's for sure. I got my own issues going on, LOL! I've heard this argument before that we're not walking in faith if we prep. But you know, in the bible Joseph prepped, didn't he? The thing is, even if we're not here to use what we've prepped, it can be used for family or neighbors or friends when we're gone. There is certainly a spirit of arguing out there right now. She told our pastor who in turn said when you store for shortage it means you don't trust God to take care of you during that time. Stupid comment. Ever heard of the 5 foolish virgins who used up their oil and were unprepared when the groom came?
Or Joseph? He prepped. Everyone needs to do what makes sense to them. Gods not disappointed in people because they're preparing. Everyone needs to make this decision for themselves.
You're hilarious, I love the comment about the flintstone size piece of meat with a couple small pieces of broccoli🤣🤣🤣. On a serious note, my hubby knows that preparing is needed, but I do all the garden work and animal work. It's hard. He wants to go have fun and travel, but doesn't realize that you can't just up and go during planting and harvesting season. He's not into homesteading much, though he will build structures. But that's pretty much it. It's a little difficult. Been married 31 years. AND I'm doing this with a broken ankle since August, just didn't know it was broken until a week ago, no pain. Weird. Luckily it's been healing well and properly. I've been on it a lot, and I mean, a lot! He did help for the first 10 days, when I thought it was just sprained, and then I was back doing all the animal chores again, plus the gardening and canning. I felt bad he had to do it, because it's more my thing.
@@Becky-tp7gm don’t you feel bad. When you’re down , he should help. You’re not the only one out there preparing like this. I know it’s hard. But one day he will thank you!!! And when he says that,, he’ll probably start to help!
@@Becky-tp7gm 31 years! That’s awesome!!!
@@Houseonmeadows Thanks for the encouragement! I truly appreciate it, and so needed to hear that today!

The chemists I've worked with or known personally (P&G, Henkel) basically agreed that that the water and mechanical agitation in washing machines did the bulk of the cleaning. After hearing that & some of their other commentary, I figured adding water to the detergent for ordinary laundering was worth experimenting with until the desired result was achieved. As an added bonus, some of the more cloyingly fragrant detergents became tolerable. In the arena of consumer products, I found that shaving is a big area of rarely-discussed opportunity for saving money. While the 2/3/4-blade disposable razors give an excellent shave, I discovered years ago that traditional (open-comb) double-edged razors were the right choice for me. I prefer Merkur razors, but high quality clones are available. As long as you never drop the razor on a concrete floor, it is capable of a lifetime of service. There is a multitude of razor blades available - sample packs are a good way to explore and find a preferred brand. There is a tiny bit of a learning curve with double-edge razors, and they are somewhat less forgiving than their modern counterparts (angle, technique is important.) Once mastery is achieved, however, there will be a perfect shave, no more toilet paper "Japanese flags," and you could pretty much shave with any "latherable" soap. So, this is a super-close shave that costs pennies for people who don't want to use electric shavers or straight razors. (I felt compelled to mention this because the "razor cartels" have had 30+ years to recoup the R&D costs of "modern" razors, but the prices remain ridiculous.) Side note to the guys: I hope it never, ever, ever comes to this, but there are some very good reasons for you to retain the tools and capability to quickly adios facial hair. I've had some luck finding competitively-priced soaps/shampoos/deodorants at Aldi, Lidl, Ollie's, etc...but I've had some really good luck, surprisingly, ordering them from overseas with free shipping (Airmail, usually arrives in 2 weeks.) One mentionable is biocalcium hydroxyapatite toothpaste - still $15+/tube here in the US, but more commonplace and priced competitively abroad. For example, "Splat" at around 6USD/100ml tube. Oral hygiene - toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, etc. That's my thing. I can and have carried on well in austere environments/situations, but as long as my teeth were clean, I was a "more pleasant person to be around." Kind of like (while also unlike) those Snickers candy commercials?
@@YabbaDabbaDOOM this is so much information. Helpful thank you
I’ve heard of adding vinegar to your rinse cycle instead of fabric softener works.
@@lisamielke2607 it works very well! Try it!
Getting one's house in order - to the greatest extent possible - is fundamental. If the situation at home is not stable/secure, the heroics and, quite frankly, Walter Mitty fantasies I hear from some people (particularly, other men) will never even get to first base. More preparation = more options, as suggested, up to and including the ability to stay home if/when the stores go in to crazytown mode. Many people - myself included - find Costco, Wal-Mart, and most other stores to be tedious under "normal" circumstances.
Many good points here. And true, stores are complicated even under normal circumstances
These are good suggestions.😉 If/when things get crazy in the coming weeks, I'd rather stay out of the grocery stores as much as possible. Like minded person here and glad I found your channel.

We are living in the Times of Noah! Noah prepared the ark, and had food provisions on the ark, to feed his family, and the animals. Then, there's the story of Joseph, who stored grain for 7 years, for all the countries around, and Egypt.
