Looks ideal. Flat water and wind. Did I even see some blue sky! Hi Graham and Chris!
Enjoying your sea trials ...from a Sydney DCA member. I like the simplicity of your Matt Leydon style main. I am developing a lug rig main on my little yawl but not yet settled on how to deploy it on water.
Top vid!
Looks like fun
You would be happy with that I reckon
Chuffed 😊
What a lovely video of a great day out. Foamfollower looks fabulous and is sailing beautifully. So proud of you.
What a bloody magnificent job. Not sure about that flat sail though, it will spill a lot of wind. But the auto furler is cool. Have you tried it without a centreboard. I have seem a similar craft on FB and reports were that the amas and hull provided enough lateral resistance and a centreboard was not necessary.
Thanks. Have a look at the sailing video. The sail works better than you'd think. The roller reefing is taken from Matt Layden's Paradox design.
Not sure why you would use shock cord as the tension cables for your out riggers. That should be dynema which is stronger than steel cable and doesn't stretch. All fore and aft forces are just being handled by the the carbon fiber tube
That's a very good point. The original purpose of the shock cord was only to hold the akas into their sockets, but still allow them to swivel. Dyneema would do that and brace them too. Thanks for the suggestion.
Looks great, the only issue maybe the large sail stern will result in rotation towards windward, as the smaller sail aft will be insufficient to counter the rotation.
Have you watched the video of her sailing? The combined Centre of Effort of the two sails is designed to balance the Centre of lateral resistance of the hull and Centre board. See what you think. th-cam.com/video/pFdcmUlV-Xc/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Your roller reefing doover works so much better than mine did.
Nice work Graham. She looks very comprehensive and well thought out.
what are the measures?
4.72m x 0.82m
what are the measures from foam follower?
Hi 4.72m x 0.71m see portnastorm.blogspot.com
Can you tell me what kind of canoe/boat that is? I like the float design.
port-na-storm.blogspot.com/p/katie-beardie.html?m=0. Hi, Katie Beardie's hull was designed by my friend Chris Waite, and the amas which are pretty much mini hulls by myself. Lots of info on my blog.
Sorry I missed your comment. This design is called Katie Beardie, self design and build info here portnastorm.blogspot.com
That’s a very different looking Mirror, did you modify yourself? Was that for cruising or some other reason?! Thanks and stay warm!! ⛵️🥶
I'm not sure what you are seeing. There are three Mirrors in the video, all very standard. My boat on the trailer is a Morbic 12, designed by Francois Vivier and built by me. Thanks for watching. Regards Graham.
@@portnastorm oh ... sorry that mght explain it lol. i saw a different foredeck, and different/absent side buoyancy tanks compared to the mirror i owned ~10 years ago. I'll watch through again.😁

Did you have to pay launching fees for using Cobnor?
Hi, Yes I have a launch permit, available from the Cobnor Estate Office. office@cobnorestate.co.uk.
Hey what....didn't read it properly.....minus 2 degrees. Are you nuts. I don't get out of bed for less than +5....
You can have a few of our degrees Celsius if you want them. 35 degrees (C that is) and 82% humidity this week.......
Great fun, can't believe it was 8 yrs ago.
Hi Rob, she goes pretty well, I was beating up to wind in a f3-4 the other day and she was making good ground. Goes like a train on a broad reach. Both CW and I are very pleased. Bad weather stopping play right now. 😎
How does it go?
Just watched video again Chris nice boat good sail we had
Nice looking dinghy. The interior volume looks pretty generous for such a small boat.
power yuloh?
Great fun... and as you advise, best attempted in spring before the undergrowth takes over! What lovely wooden boats. Who is the designer and who built them?
Hi, Chris Waite , standing and making like a Gondolier most of the time was in his own design and home built Octavia. Sixteen foot rowing skiff. The most boat you can get from two sheets of ply. Chris Partridge, was in his Chippendale skiff designed by Andrew Wolstenholme, also home built.
good efforts guys, having spent my life in the lower reaches,I want my infants to retrace your paddle sweps. We will probably need secatars
Hi James, You will probably need a machete and a chain saw. Try it in Spring before the weeds get too thick. Have fun!
thanks for the advice, last time I boated to Pulborough was is a dory, maybe taking the under 8's on this trek needs to be done sooner rather than later, I wont do it alone will get as many chums involved too, seasonal greetings and the like
Great stuff
