2010 Loretta Lynn's with Cooper Webb. After spending 9 years with Cooper in the beginning it's good to see him at top of his game. There are some photos at the beginning , but hang in there for the video. Cooper on the 150 Honda 4 stroke before jumping on the 250 4 stroke. So cool seeing not only Webb still out there but then a part time student for many years Justin Barcia. GO BOYS !!!!!!

Well some times I like to take photos at the race .With photos I could see more what riders are doing in detail. Feet, clutch, legs, head and more so I could teach any new things riders are doing. Yes down to even what finger they use on the front brake and on the clutch. And you never know when you are going to get a good one. OH YA NO DUMB MUSIC

This one has Photos and Video. At some races they won't let me on the track so I do the best I can. You need to be press or someone that is important, like a movie star or a personal friend then you are VIP. So I post what I have.

More With David Bailey and Art Eckman from the corn field. Pretty cool race track in the middle of a corn field. And the corn they have cooking was awesome. They didn't have to go far to get more.

Dam that bike sounds good
Tremendous Video Gary. Best yet!
Watching Bob Hannah ride is glorious. What a rider! The Supercross tracks in that era were so much more difficult than the ones nowadays. The tracks now are just made for 450 bikes so they are just jump filled tracks with no technical aspects to them at all. Back in this time, the riders needed perfect balance to keep the bikes under control because the whoops were devastating and oddly spaced. I thoroughly enjoy watching these races. They are so much better to watch than the new ones.
back when supercross was bad ass,so sad it's so woke now a days
Love seeing the grass still on the track
sounds soo crispy!!
What a treasure trove !!
The greatest sport on the planet!! No matter when in history.
I’m 58 , loved this era , the noise the smell the riders . Legendary stuff .
LOVE IT !!! Thank You
Gary...thank you for sharing these amazing old videos. I went to a number of races back then and only your foresight to record these races with high-quality video with audio allows us all to see them again in all their glory. RJ will always be my favorite racer.
This is fantastic Gary thank you for doing this.
Jody Wesiel was quoted saying Thorpe was the worlds fastest amateur . . . Lol . . . Got to love that Jody Wesiel . . . Read his motocross action mag column from the early 70's
Lechine sam posy is at this point in his motocross career far from being a rookie dumb-ass. And that corner he slid though with his back brake locked was a very professional move to enter and exit with extreme precision and he executed it perfectly. Ronnie from this race on was to become one of the fastest 500cc riders but his off track party style eventually caught up with him along with not even throwing a leg over his practice bikes between races, and in doing so was given the nominee of the best natural talent rider in motocross . . . Hats off Mr Lechine the machine
that was a motocross track
Just love the cr 250 2-stroke and McGrath
Gary, Thank you for the memories, you are one hell of a roll model and father. Wish you the best.❤❤😊😊
Surprising how riders didn't spend hours upon hours practicing their starts back then. It would have made such a difference.
Notice a lot less jumps yet the racing was exciting and less injury and deaths. I feel motocross and Supercross should be the same. I love jumps and they are needed but we don’t need to push it. The jumps could be half the height and the racing still just as great or better.
🔥👍👍, а я досих пор ежжу на cz250/513, она 1985 года, но она в отличном состоянии, и валит так что шкура заварачивается🔥👍
'82 was the year of the Americans. Blessed to attend the des Nations races with my bro. What an adventure.
@vintagemxer9165…lucky…
Attended 'dilla since '71. I love the natural rarely used track with grass as it mixed in with the dirt. Just that uphill section leading to Screw U was so gnarly. That alone is a challenge and a passing opportunity. I hate what they've done with the track with the heavy machinery grooming the course so smooth which leads to RUTS. I love BUMPS and even UNSEEN ones that are hidden within the grass. Probably some woodchuck holes as well. Yup, those were the days. Gnarly 2 strokes. The sounds. The smells. Bikes and riders that could be easily distinguished just by the gas tanks. Thanks Gary for your contribution to the sport.
Well davidhart1504, you are right. Except for that day, for some reason he wanted to race with those guys. I was surprised as well when I saw he come out on in.
Can’t be 1981. The bikes are wrong for that year. Hannah didn’t ride one two fives in 81.
Awesome. Wish I could have been there....
Brutal course! Rode that back in 81 with the Suzuki school of motocross and it brings back great memories. David Bailey!! Whada smooth, strong rider!!
Thanks for the memories Professor ! I was there for these races as well as the Motocross des Nations in Belgium, the weekend before. I was the lone Canadian with 21 Americans on a tour that Gigi Penton organized. We had USA support team jackets. Pretty freaky getting out of Czechoslovakia after the races were done ! Team USA kicked butt winning the Motocross des Nations and the Trophy des Nations. Great racing ! Great memories !
these two men are two of the greatest riders in motocross history. respect
Eff Bob Hannah
Best way to use a cow field!!
Best track in the country!
🍀🍀💚💚
Amen to that. Dave
These were proper motocross tracks , so many different lines could be taken unlike today's mainly flat manicured tracks with a table top every 150 yards.
🍀🍀💚💚
I love the Professor's videos...to me this is what motocross is all about; there's nothing in the world like the sound of two-strokes getting after it...
Great….thank you!
Kees van der Ven. To fast for the locals...
I was there watching it. Historic now.
Yes back then it was motocross natural terrain, now days I'd call it some kind of track racing. Hey I took your mx class at Plymouth near Sacramento back in the 70's and havestill the certificate you gave out.
Was there !
Modern riders say this early 12" of suspension is soft. But this is when 12" of suspension travel was used for the bumps on the track, as the jumps were not that big yet. Today, they are set up for the huge jumps, but can't keep their wheels on the ground in the smaller, (but faster) bumps, when they form. I see a lot of deflection today in the chatter, that this old soft suspension would soak up IMO.
Never gets old.
Sick!!!
I thought Bob was hurt in 1980, or is this a very early first racing back or something lol
Awesome video! Thanks Gary Bailey! 💥❤️😎👍❤️💥

What an era. What a lineup of champions and what excellent motorcycles. Truly a special time in motocross history. 👍👍👍👍
There's something about the racing during the late 70's and early 80's that really gets me going. We didn't know how good we had it. So cool to see David honing his skills. It wasn't long after this that he became a dominant force.
Amazing how packed it is compared to the 5 ppl that watch the irl races now ... How sad it's become
Yeah these were the glory days of motocross, it's just not the same anymore.
