Code 62 Kawasaki Ninja - Kawasaki Dealer Refused the Job
Code 27 and code 62 are likely referring to diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that can be read using an OBD-II scan tool.
Code 27: This is a generic OBD-II code that indicates a problem with the oxygen sensor heating circuit.
The oxygen sensor helps the engine computer (ECU) determine if the engine is running rich or lean.
If the heating circuit is faulty, it may prevent the oxygen sensor from functioning properly.
* Code 62: This is also a generic OBD-II code that indicates a problem with the cruise control system.
The cruise control system is a feature that allows the rider to set a constant speed on the motorcycle.
If this code appears, it may indicate a faulty cruise control switch, malfunctioning speed sensor,
or a problem with the ECU's communication with the cruise control system.
It's also important to note that these codes may not necessarily indicate a serious problem with the motorcycle, and they may require further diagnosis to determine the root cause of the issue.
Codes 27 and 62 are OBD-II diagnostic trouble codes that can help identify issues with the motorcycle's systems.
By using a scan tool or a code reader, you can retrieve these codes and use them to diagnose the problem.
Code 27: Oxygen sensor heating circuit malfunction
+ Faulty oxygen sensor
+ Faulty oxygen sensor heater
+ Wiring issue or corrosion
+ ECU software issue
* Code 62: Cruise control system malfunction
+ Faulty cruise control switch
+ Malfunctioning speed sensor
+ ECU software issue
+ Wiring issue or corrosion
To troubleshoot these codes, you may need to use a scan tool to read live data, check for any other codes,
and perform some basic diagnostic tests. If you're not familiar with motorcycle diagnostics,
According to the Kawasaki Ninja diagnostic trouble code (DTC) documentation, here's what codes 27 and 62 might mean:
Code 27: Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction
Description: The oxygen sensor heater circuit is malfunctioning or has a fault.
* Possible causes:
+ Oxygen sensor heater failure or malfunction
+ Wiring issue or corrosion in the oxygen sensor heater circuit
+ ECU software issue or calibration problem
+ Faulty oxygen sensor or oxygen sensor circuit
* Symptoms:
+ Rich or lean mixture condition detected by the O2 sensor
+ Engine performance issues, such as rough idling, poor acceleration, or decreased fuel efficiency
+ MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) illumination on the dashboard
**Code 62: Cruise Control System Malfunction**
* Description: The cruise control system has a malfunction or fault.
* Possible causes:
+ Faulty cruise control switch or wiring
+ Malfunctioning speed sensor (RPM sensor)
+ ECU software issue or calibration problem
+ Faulty cruise control module or communication issue with the ECU
* Symptoms:
+ Cruise control system does not function properly or at all
+ MIL illumination on the dashboard
+ Unstable engine speed or RPM fluctuations
Please note that these codes are general interpretations and may not be specific to your exact motorcycle model or year. To get a more accurate diagnosis, I recommend consulting a Kawasaki dealership's repair manual or speaking with a qualified mechanic who has experience with Kawasaki motorcycles.
Additionally, it's essential to perform a thorough scan tool readout to retrieve live data and any other codes that may be present. This will help you identify the root cause of the issue and provide a more accurate diagnosis.
Clearing the trouble codes (DTCs) on your Kawasaki Ninja involves using a scan tool, or code reader that can communicate with the motorcycle's onboard computer (ECU). Here are the general steps:
1. Connect a scan tool or code reader to the motorcycle's OBD-II port,
which is usually located under the seat or under the dashboard.
Make sure you have the correct connector and cable for your motorcycle.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position (but do not start the engine).
3. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to select the "Scan" or "Read Codes" function on the scan tool.
4. The scan tool will display the current trouble codes, including code 27 and code 62.
5. Clear the codes by selecting the "Clear" or "Erase" function on the scan tool.
6. Confirm that the codes have been cleared by re-scanning for codes.
**Method 2: Using a Reset Function on Your Motorcycle's Display**
1. If your Kawasaki Ninja has a digital display, you might be able to clear the codes using a reset function on the display.
2. Refer to your owner's manual or consult with a dealership to find out if this feature is available on your specific model.
3. Follow the instructions to access the reset function and select the "Trouble Code Clear" option.
4. Confirm that you want to clear the codes and follow any additional prompts.
5. The display should indicate that the codes have been cleared.
* Clearing trouble codes does not necessarily resolve the underlying issue causing the code.

This trail is very enjoyable, not very hard, but not too easy. There are quite a few rocky ups and downs, long sections on deep gravel beds. By the time you get here you're pretty tired, if you're lucky the weather is kind to you. It can be very windy or very hot. We had pretty good weather, a bit windy and less hot.

    My dude! That was pretty gnar gnar at the start. I'm a local to the Swell but I havent been in that spot. I'm guessing its south of the highway, perhaps starting from Temple Mountain Road and heading south to the back of the reef somewhere? The rock at the start seems like the very ancient rocks I know from the Crawford Draw area in the center of the swell, and those cliffs with the red or yellow layered stuff at their base at the end of the ride seem like the formations I have seen (but never explored) when I look north from the "Back of the Reef Road". I just have a KLX300 and I'm a newbie. Gotta hand it to you... I'd like to be able to ride that well someday. Great vid!

      Whatever. The black TC 2.1 looks better. But in the long run, I've found that the black one is much louder, and has a much deeper sound. The TC2 is also loud after a while, but not as deep. Both are good choices in my opinion.

    • @kcomst
      @kcomst 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@endurowarrior Agreed black looks way better, which is what I wanted. I don't care about the noise difference. But all I could find in the TC 2.1 was raw aluminum, not black. I still probably would have got a silver 2.1 but found a 2.0 priced about $30 cheaper than all the other 2.0 and 2.1 TCs which was the deciding factor. Somewhere I read the 2.0 has less packing so it's smaller and lighter; I doubt that's true. I have the 2.1 TC on two other 300 cc bikes and it's pretty compact; I can't imagine it being any smaller.

    • @endurowarrior

      It's still quite good, not many people know about it and therefore the trails are in quite good condition. If I take my damn friend Jeff here, he's so big jerk, he'll post the log files in Facebook groups and everyone will be riding here tomorrow as he did in Florida. If I want to enjoy these trails, it's better to keep it a secret where it is. But it's also a good idea to bring people who are really reliable and don't share gps coordinates on the internet. Otherwise, I don't understand why someone would share secret trails that they haven't invested any energy in and never come to help maintain these semi secret places.

      It depends on many things. It's very slippery after rain. On the other hand, how experienced you are and what kind of bike you have. I guess a bigger ADV is not a good choice here. I don't know all the trails, but some of them are very steep, I'd say about a 6 on a scale of 10. I've been on much harder trails than these.

      @@randyownby7406 All these single tracks are hidden from the foreign eye. If you're going to ride a bike here, you'd better fasten your trousers. The President of the United States is not as safe as these trails, they even put bushes at the entrance so they make sure you can't find them. If you've never been here before, I guess you'll find the Jeep trails first, and be tortured by the rocky muddy trails, extreme deep ruts, mud, steep hills. If you're lucky it'll be dry. Impossible when wet.There are some trails where you go in and it's impossible to get out because both exits are steep slippery rocky. I usually come here when it hasn't rained for at least a week, which is rare here. If you ask, nobody has heard of the single tracks, not even the bikers, because they don't want to tell you where they are. They like to play dumb if you ask. But, as me, you will find many here if you keep your eyes open. Last year I rode here with a guy who already had a 2024 KTM. The guy was very cocky and said that he was riding with Graham Jarvis and that he had been riding a dirt bike all his life. However, he gave up after 2 minutes when I turned into the first serious trail, which was 15. So he went back to the trail head to sulk. Some people like a challenge, some people just have a big mouth. This place can be very brutal, you'll go much slower than you plan. But look around, give it a go. The single tracks don't officially exist, but if you're lucky you'll find some.

    Do you run different tires in the sand than you do in the mountains? Are you running tubes or a mousse?

    • @endurowarrior
      @endurowarrior 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a good question, thank you for bringing it up. You're not going to believe this, but I've been over the rubber issue for a long time, I'm going with what I've got. I used to always look for the best tire, but I found out it was a waste of money. I know a few people who can only ride IRC MB5 in deep sand. Besides, they just piss off the park rangers by ploughing up the forest. On the other hand, I know a biker who has street tires on his DR650, and he's faster than me. I think any tire is good if you can ride. I ride a worn michelin enduro and I'm happy with it. Of course I use Mousse every time I go off road, I don't like to bother with the inner tube. If you are racing then a good tire choice is very important. If you are a casual rider like me then I think any tire will be just fine. On sand it's better to have less pressure and a knobby tire, not everyone is as extreme as my DRZ650 friend who goes in the woods with street tires. Personally I don't like to leave tracks in the woods, I don't want them(park ranger) to know where I've been, so I don't use aggressive tires. I note that, from a safety point of view, the front tire is better if it's low pressure, wide and knobby, because it easy to lose the front end on sand. The only time I pay attention to the tires is when I go hard enduro riding, or on the race track with a sport bike. What you had on your bike will be fine, come anytime, I will ride every weekend in the winter. I know that many people will not like this post, and they think I am mean. But the forest is not an MX track, people go there to relax, hike, horse riding, hunting etc. Those who want to enjoy nature do not look kindly on our kind. But to answer your question, a very low pressure tire with an aggressive knobs is the very best in deep sand. Paddle tire is no needed here yet. And yes, I often use the medium michelin enduro tires in the mountains, the last time I was with you I was also using them. A lot of people don't like it, I like it because it's street approved, and not too bad on pavement.

      I can't remember the last time I used an inner tube or tubliss. Maybe 10 years ago in a forest in Florida, the valve broke off from crossing so many streams. I don't know how much PSI is in my rear tire, it looks very soft. I run only Mousse front and rear. It varies, when it's this kind of mousse and when it's that kind of mousse. When which is cheaper or available for my tire. Air tires are not very safe in such extremely hard places.

      @@GrayRidesEnduro I hadn't used it for a long time, first time on this bike, and all the hard enduro style was starting to give me a stiff wrist, and then one day a drunk kid hit me with a 4-passenger razor, and something in my wrist got busted. Since then I've been using an automatic clutch but my wrist still hurts like hell by the end of the day, and then it hurts for days after every ride. I can't even use impact wrench since the incident because the stupid drunk kid ran me over without braking and there were 4 of them in the razor. I was seen by a doctor, but they found nothing, just rough bruising and that maybe one day my wrist will recover or I'll get used to the pain. I'm not a doctor, some joint or ligament whatever is torn or those tiny bones in the wrist are crushed. I used to use the clutch on the harder sections, but not on the straighter lines. At low revs it is very soft, it doesn't start like a factory clutch. I think that's why I lose a lot of torque at low range. Now I want to put another spring in it to see if the low end will be better.
