Hi! Welcome to the channel where I overthink and ask stupid questions about movies - both old and current; all while occasionally giving behind-the-scenes information about certain movies, books, and people.
I chose “RaisedVintage” because I grew up on old shows, movies, and books. Inspiration for the name came from when I was talking to a friend of my dad’s, and Marvin the Martian from Looney Tunes came up. The friend asked if I knew who that was and I replied, “Yes, I was raised vintage.”
For more about me, check out my “Name Behind the Channel” post. ( th-cam.com/video/vo8aoNOW2DE/w-d-xo.html ). Also, check out the Community tab throughout the week for more fun stuff! (No specific time or day)

Shawshank Redemption is one of those movies which relate so much to our lives.
My favorite movie of all time
Frickin love this movie 😝 btw its pronounced eesma
@@gremlinsforever that's odd, I thought I pronounced right🤷♀️
great review i agree with you 100%
@@Racoon739 you agree with me on which part? This video is from awhile ago, I dont remember what I said🤪please clarify. Thank you though!
As of posting I have seen the movie twice now, so there are some new things I have noticed and thought about. If you want me to make a second video or just comment on it, please let me know and comment.
Nice video! Personally I like Gonzo the most.
Thank you for the shout out! The bicycle stuff is always amazing. Glad you enjoyed it despite being a bit slower by today's standards.
Allllright what about the plake of mr oroange huh!!!
Is that from this movie or the animated movie?
You might have researched how to pronounce all their names before making this. Just a suggestion!
They tried to cancel out this movie and book. The first black woman to win an Oscar.
The porch around the house would have most likely afforded Rhett a way to walk around The curtain dress wouldn't have meant to be ugly necessarily, but to have spoken to Scarlett's finances and available goods in the South at the time In the book Belle and Rhett most likely have a child together (not one he openly raised or acknowledged) Great balls of fire wasn't an uncommon phrase of the era I didn't know so many veterans of the (our) civil war attended the premiere. I wonder what they thought of it. The post battle scenes of Atlanta are said to be incredibly accurate of what it was like
I didn't think about the porch! I wonder if the son that Belle mentions to Melanie is Rhett's, I wouldn't be surprised. I just find it odd that Scarlet doesn't say the phrase "Great balls of fire" until way later, because that's also a pretty famous quote. Did you enjoy the book?
Good review!! Cannot too much to what you commented on. Supposedly Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey could not stand each other filming this movie due to pressure of schedule and filming. However, they go on to star together in the movie, "Red Dawn". Also, sometime in the 1990s, Jennifer Grey got a nose job that was terribly botched. There was a short-lived TV show afterwards with her co-starring in and making appearances. She was able to make fun of the botched nose job in that show. NOBODY PUTS BABY IN A CORNER!! A couple films similar to this one to consider viewing: Eddie and the Cruisers Streets of Fire
I thought Red Dawn was before this, interesting. Also, the line about "nobody puts baby in a corner" is kind of stupid, because she wasn't in a corner and it was just where she happened to sit🤪
Good review!! Also, there is a deleted scene where Lt Traxler actually begins to believe the story that Kyle Reese is telling. The theatrical cut sort of makes him look uncomfortable, constipated, or whatever. I finally purchased a director's cut of this movie, and that added scene makes that portion of the movie make more sense. John Connor MAY have told Kyle Reese about phone books and how to use them before sending him back in time. The Terminator may have had files downloaded into it from SkyNet because "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" takes place in a time where phone books were still in use in the world. Sarah's iguana probably took off out the broken window or an open door??? Also, BILL PAXTON was in this movie as well. He is considered the ONLY ACTOR to have been killed by a Terminator, Xenomorph (Aliens), and a Predator (Predator 2). In this movie Bill Paxton is one of those punks at beginning of movie when the Terminator first kills someone. Bill is pushed out of the way quite vigorously just before the other punk has his heart ripped out.
I have seen the deleted scene of Lt. Traxler giving Kyle his gun. It should've stayed in. Phone book theory makes sense. I haven't seen T3 yet. I knew (afterwards) that Bill Paxton was in the film, but didn't know he was in the Aliens & Predator films.
Think I saw this movie mainly for nostalgic purposes, but really do not recall it. Do remember seeing the TV series growing up in the 1960s, but really could not tell you about any of the episodes. Try to catch the TV series in syndication, but they mostly do not hold my attention.
Good review!!! Because of the CHRISTMAS THEMES throughout the movie, I would say - yes- this is a Christmas movie. That argument has been going on since this movie first came out in 1988, but this is my opinion. This movie has some of the best action scenes in it and this movie never gets old no matter how many times have seen it. Also, when Alan Rickman's character falls from the building to his death, that is his actual "OH $hit" look on his face!! Rickman was told that the watch on Holly's wrist was to be loosened at a certain count so he could prepare himself, but the director cut the count down and the watch was released earlier than Rickman anticipated, thus that iconic look. Yeah- cannot explain the "open frequency" on the 2-way radio's - that seems to be a staple in movies UNLESS they actually changed channels which is never referred to or shown. Also, think that EMTs may have gotten KARL down from dangling by the neck on that chain for he does jump up from a gurney. But HOW did he get that weapon?? NOBODY saw him pick that thing up??? Hmm...the things that makes one ask questions about movies!! LOL!!
I think if this film came out around Christmas there wouldn't be a debate.
Good review!! This movie came out during the Apartheid going on in South Africa, thus the theme of the movie. Got to agree with you on the Rika/Riggs relationship: thought there was really no chemistry between the two characters - maybe infatuation - but no chemistry. Think Rika was supposed to be the typical "damsel in distress" type of girl. Though this movie is definitely "dated" because of the Apartheid, it is still a good viewing. And - yep - they should just let Riggs die off. Saw this in the theater when it first came out and that was pretty much everyone in the audience's thoughts, though could be wrong, then Riggs is back for the final ending. IF there is a 5th film in this series, will probably go see it just to see Danny Glover & Mel Gibson probably for the last time in a movie before they pass on (I'm not too far behind them in age either and it definitely was a pleasure watching their performances in movies/TV).
Good review!! There is a "controversy" about this movie being a CHRISTMAS MOVIE!! Yeah - it takes place during the Christmas Season (regardless of when it was filmed/released) just like "Die Hard". There are Christmas trees, songs, decorations, etc. so this IS a Christmas movie. Also, IF you look closely at the scene where Riggs and the suicidal person jump off the building - look at their wrists. You will see that suddenly there is NO handcuffs present and can literally see the actors grabbing for each other's hands. "Lethal Weapon 2" is a good movie. #3 you can tell that they ran out of ideas. #4, #5 just watch because they are part of the series. As for the TV version - do believe that the actor that played Riggs suddenly died - forget how. Have seen a few episodes and it seems like a good show. Cannot remember but think that after the actor that played Riggs died, another character was supposed to be introduced - or was introduced - and it never had the pizazz that it had when first coming onto TV. It was eventually canceled I believe.
Good video!!! This was an awesome John Wayne movie - one of my favorites. Think the acting was topnotch, though Wayne's was probably a little stiff. Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin, and Vera Miles just steal the entire movie. Also, there is actually a song called "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance". It came out in 1962 performed by Gene Pitney. This was supposed to be the theme song for this movie, but studio execs thought that the song did not have much to do with the movie so was never added to it. However, IF you listen to the song, it basically tells the same story that is in the film. You should give that song a listening and maybe do a reaction video for it. Some of my most favorite John Wayne films: The Searchers Red River Sands of Iwo Jima The Shootist Island in the Sky The Cowboys The High abd the Mighty
I haven't heard the song. Interesting. Never heard of Island in the Sky.
Love this movie!! This is the ONLY version of the story I will accept, probably because of Charlton Heston's hammy performance, Edward G. Robison's Brooklyn accent, Vincent Price's distinctive voice and other reasons (also the version I grew up with during the 1960s-1970s). I think Ann Baxter just steals every scene she is in. Have seen the 1923 original version, and it is pretty good, but no Charlton Heston.
Good review!! This movie came out the same year I was born. Can remember this movie being shown on TV throughout the 1960s-1970s and NEVER seen it in its entirety until recently. Was at a store that sells old DVDs and whatever and just happened to find this movie for about $3.00. Bought it and finally watched this movie in its entirety. Was surprised that it captured my attention like it did!! Was definitely way better than I thought it would be, guess in the 1960s-1970s this movie was way too overwhelming for a young boy's mind, but was able to appreciate it at age 60. Did some research after seeing this movie to see how historically "accurate" it was, and everything I read seemed to collaborate what was in the movie, though there definitely is "artistic license" in the movie.
Love "Armageddon", even with all its goofiness and unbelievability!!!! Have seen that movie like a ga-billion times. "Deep Impact" is OK - will watch it but not really enthusiastic about it.
i liked Deep Impact much more. Armageddon was just too out there unrealistic. Good reviews. Enjoyed your video.
I think the main reason I enjoyed so much is because the trailer was released September of 2023 (4 months ago) and since then I hadn't seen much marketing for this film. I didn't see very much about it until a few weeks before going to see it and there were so many negative reviews. I also believe the plethora of negative reviews "helped" because I went in with low expectations. Hope this helps!
Info provided I never knew. Thanks!

I liked the movie and they were working on it for 14 years ok here is my opinion they could've done a bit better if 14 years if you get what I mean but I mean Margot Robbie was amazing as Barbie but Ken was a bit silly😂😅lol
They were good together. I saw on both their IMDB pages that they're gonna be in an Oceans 11 film, I think. I think that franchise needs to be left alone, Oceans 8 didn't work. I would like to see these together again though😎.
