Gwendraeth Valley railway path part 4 - Glynhebog to Cwmmawr
An unusual public footpath along a disused railway where the tracks are still in situ. The last part to the terminus at Cwmmawr.
The Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway was built around 1870 on the line of the Kidwelly and Llanelly Canal and the last train ran in 1996. It was primarily used to carry coal but there were also passenger services until 1953.

An unusual public footpath along a disused railway where the tracks are still in situ. We get closer to the railway tracks in this part but they are mostly hidden under vegetation. A lane in Wales. I originally walked this to replicate a walk in a 1971 book called "along the Roman Roads of Britain" by J.H.B. Peel but after some researching it appears it is probably not the Roman road Sarn Helen East as supposed by Mr Peel but it's a scenic walk anyway. The route in the book continues ahead along the track "which in places grows fainter than a shadow" but is not a right of...

Another way down from Footpath 118 to Marshfoot Road. Used to continue to Little Thurrock but was split into two paths when the A1089 road was built.

Across the Surrey National golf course to Footpath 74. Crosses a few fairways without waymarks so a bit hazardous because the golfers probably don't realise it is a public footpath.

Connects the A1013 Stanford Road to Long Lane, which was blocked by the construction of the A1089 road.

Starting at Long Lane. A dead-end path which used to continue to Baker Street but was blocked by the A13/A1089 junction. Was diverted along the edges of the first field but most people are continuing to use the original diagonal cross-field path.

Chadwell St. Mary to Sockett's Heath. Probably part of an ancient road from Coalhouse Point towards Aveley which further east is known as the Coal Road. The fenced off areas in Hangman's Wood contain deneholes (old chalk pits).

I live close by
Come to the goal I front of the house with a net
Passed here again today and the field has been bulldozed over so I just managed to get the old path in time!
That old building dead ahead at 3-39 :- The terrminus for the 370 bus . ( the hairpin bridge 1 mile further up the road ) Tilbury Ferry boats ( Katherine & ? ) The walkway down to the quayside The walkway down to the the trains The smell of beer and cigarettes coming from the pub to your right at the main entrance . The huge stationers aisle at the centre Squawking seagulls, one of whom decorated the lens of my NHS specs.... Sadly all ghosts now ... Progress / Evolution we're told . Gigantic , hideous grey warehouses owned by All The Usual Suspects wherever you look . Doesn't bode well for the next 20 years . 😞

Very professional
Duchie? Earle? FFS!
I mostly stuck with Mr Stow's spelling although he wasn't very consistent, sometimes using two different spellings in consecutive sentences!
Absorbing and informative.
Took me a minute to get the hang of your videos and figure out what was going on, but once i did..LOVE IT!
Thanks, I have some ideas for similar London videos but they will be more occasional.
Gracechurch (Grasse) Street is mentioned several times in Austen's Pride and Prejudice as the home of the Bennett's well-to-do Uncle in 'Cheapside', as the area was evidently called in the early 19thC.
Interesting. I wondered if there was some confusion with Eastcheap (at the south end of Gracechurch Street) but I see there is a mention of Bow Church which is in the Cheapside street (formerly Westcheap).
good video
Absorbing viewing - off to watch more!
Many Many thanks for this amazing video my friend....!!!!!

Muy interesantes tus paseos. Mostras otra Londres, lastima que no este en español. Igualmentes tenes mu 👍
This is a really interesting TH-cam site. I love walking tours around London. I think I’m your 45th subscriber 👍
Thanks I'm glad people are finding these interesting. Only a few more left to do now; unfortunately recently my free time has coincided with rainy weather but there should be one or two more next week when I have time to edit them.
this is a very interesting video, and I find the ambient sounds to be exquisite and subtle. thank you.

London is longer
Presumably, in the 17th Century, this area of the City of London would have been mainly residential. One imagines low-rise timber buildings cramped together with limited sanitation. What a contrast today.
There's a good documentary on TH-cam about the 1982 excavation of St. Botolph's church and quay. th-cam.com/video/F4TJfGudEus/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FkM7DpNxHIwRecs1
