Newington Green to Stoke Newington High Street. Albion Road was built when the area became built up in the early 1800s. The original southern end of the B102 now partly closed to motors. The area was redeveloped and Shoreditch Park built in the 1960s-1970s, prior to which Bridport Place and the intersecting streets were mostly war damaged terraced housing partly rebuilt as temporary prefabs. The first of a new project featuring B-roads in numerical order. Sun Street, Chiswell Street, and Beech Street (under the Barbican). Leazes Avenue to Green Lane. The first part past the houses is known as The Bridlepath. Gracechurch (Grasse) Street is mentioned several times in Austen's Pride and Prejudice as the home of the Bennett's well-to-do Uncle in 'Cheapside', as the area was evidently called in the early 19thC.
Interesting. I wondered if there was some confusion with Eastcheap (at the south end of Gracechurch Street) but I see there is a mention of Bow Church which is in the Cheapside street (formerly Westcheap).

London is longer
Presumably, in the 17th Century, this area of the City of London would have been mainly residential. One imagines low-rise timber buildings cramped together with limited sanitation. What a contrast today.
