I heard a different story to this and the whales kept it afloat and looked after it until a pod of whales came to help the baby and the killer whales let them take the baby away.

Another story that shows how genuinely intelligent Humpbacks are. This incredible demonstration of caring mercy on the part of the Humpbacks and the acceptance on the part of the huge Blue whales just solidifies my theory that these oceanic mammals are very much self-aware' especially when showcased in an incident like this one. This was clearly a thought out, deliberate act not born of pure instinct but of human-like compassion. It wouldn't surprise me much if researchers soon discover that the different species of whales and perhaps other sea mammals possess the ability to communicate with each other. How cool would that be?
