Well said! As someone who educates on Florida Mangroves I agree that mangroves are the perfect nature base solution. I wish you would talk more about how they are part of a community dependent on freshwater and saltwater ecosystems, and how they contribute to being a nursery for fish and other marine life.

I can concur about the relaxation aspect of scuba diving. I've been certified for 40 years now and was an instructor for 15. I work in High Tech, which is stressful. Diving is a release from that. People I work with notice my attitude is more relaxed after a weekend of diving. There is nothing like floating in the ocean and just kicking back.

Considering the Everglades agricultural area is half a million acres, 17,000 acres really isn’t that much land

The solution is to stop farming sugarcane in the Everglades.. Lake Okeechobee is really just a giant retention pond for the everglades agricultural area

I applaud the Everglades Foundation for their support of the 5th edition of the Everglades Handbook as well as their support of increasing the flow of clean water to the South. This a very worthwhile goal that is only possible if the SFWMD and the USACE address the elephant in the room, i.e. the phosphorus entering Lake O. and the legacy phosphorus at the bottom of Lake O.

Non biodegradable herbicide toxins are eradicating phytoplankton and causing water stagnation and hypoxia. Without microbial plants the nitrates pollute and the carbon dioxide doesnt get converted to oxygen. The Monsanto/ Bayer controlled USDA cannot admit these findings.

The Everglades will be CRUCIAL to the Future of the Economy. The Everglades Will Literally Feed the New Bio-Carbon Economy. Period. There will be at LEAST a Million People that will Depend On The Everglades For Their Livelihoods and Industry.

So cool to see the state working for decades to restore the everglades. The scale of this project is incredible.

If we ever build an O’Neill cylinder in space, we would need something similar to the Everglades and the coral reefs. Most of Florida is built on coral

And then we introduced the Burmese python to devour the mammalian wildlife. And now sea level rise will finish the Everglades off in a few decades. Another awesome piece of the natural world going to hell. So tragic.
