Steam Locomotive 7470 in the winter!
มุมมอง 3.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Our beloved 7470 was filmed in early 2021 for our steam in the snow event! This 0-6-0 switcher was built by Grand Trunk Railway in Montreal, Quebec in 1921 and was used by Canadian National (CN) as Locomotive #7470! This locomotive was the first locomotive purchased by the Conway Scenic Railroad and was put into service in 1974! Be on the lookout for 7470 early this year as it is undergoing som...

My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🚂🚃🚄🚅🚇🚈🚉🚊🚝🚞🚋🛤 especially snow plow trains he says they are a rare and interesting sight like when the locomotive pushing the plow speeds up and when the plow comes to a snow drift the snow flies through the air! He also recommends that when the time comes for the plow to be used that the Conway Scenic Railroad should use their covered wagons aka F Units to push because he says since F Units have no walkways like other diesels less snow has to be cleaned from them.
What is the status of 7470?
Thanks!!! Awesome
Heard this song at North Conway and loved it, thanks for posting!
Sounds like someone is a "Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem" Fan !! Sounds Great ! Lovely to see Conway in the snow!
great video! hope to see yall soon!
I've seen this thing in the yard but never saw it in action very nice. Also good luck restoring 501
2:36 Never seen a CSR w/ 3 locos
One of the best routes CSR runs. Love seeing trains on the Mountain Division!
actually all you see for scenic are trees alon the right of way
Not once you hit the mountains
Since this engine returned to steam in 2019 she’s become my fav cn engine. It originally went to 3254 but something about that 0-6-0 makes me like it even more, and also making it my new fav 0-6-0.
Outstanding! Great horn too :)
Excellent. I'd love the opportunity to ride along and film from the ground and with my drones.
I’ve seen a lot of train videos. Been an Engineer for 22 years. This is outstanding scenery, and good looking trains in spectacular scenery. Crawford Notch, gotta go there some day.
We did the Mountaineer in August of last year. Maybe this year we'll do your special railfan trip in the fall.
I can think of very few things that are as pleasing to the eye as a steam locomotive in recently fallen snow in the mountains.
Nice Nathan 5 m horn
Awesome video thanks for sharing. I love a train horn and how cool it w be to be in the cab of the locomotive 🚂
But why do they need an A/C unit in the snow plow?.....
It’s hot in there bet it’s like a super hot wood stove or to keep the pipes cooler idk 🤷♀️
The interior of the snowplow becomes a bunk for employees to stay in during the summer months.
Beautiful
Absolutely stunning! Everything about the video was amazing...the scenery, photography, snow and the beautiful steamer.
Hmm, how often do you need an air conditioner in a snowplow?
Pretty hot inside that 🚂 locomotive I would be willing to guess and did you see the fan?
WOW! How did you get all that snow perfectly on the trees for the video?
Beautiful sounding whistle!
Boy that steamer is a beauty. Gorgeous in the snowy lanscape.
Beautiful! Loved it... long time csrr fan!
Outstanding viewpoint 👍
Fantastic video footage. Nice 👍 job
I noticed the pressure gauge. Westinghouse in Wilmerding, PA. The company is called WABTECH. Westinghouse Air Brake Technology. During my machinist apprenticeship my class took a tour at that plant! Interesting stuff to say the least!
That was really great seeing the controls. Thanks very much. James.
I was there, it was awesome. Really hope it can be repeated someday
Can you do a video about 7470 getting its cab fixed from the fire you guys had at the beginning of 2022?
Perhaps the best camerawork of Winter Steam in CSRX history! Well done Brian!
👍👍
I would love to see more plow videos. Can the plow be operated with the steam locomotives? If so, could the railroad do a winter steam plow photo shoot? Something simple like going to conway or down the Redstone branch. Either way, stay warm!!!
Type in the search" Steam Powered Rotary Snow Plow". This is the blower that is owned by the Denver & Rio Grande narrow gauge railroad. It takes 2 steam engines to push the blower up the 4% grade. It also takes 2 days to go 60 miles. The blower is steam operated but not self-propelled.
@@mattwainright8392 yes I've seen the video already about it. It's very cool, wish I had it to plow my driveway.
They have what it needs, but for photo charters they would probably want to use the Maine Central one for realism. Just have to wait for it to be restored.
Hopefully when I chase it I can see #252.
Great video! Very interesting to see how the plow works
Love the ac unit in the back of the plow
It's for plowing on those hot summer days..
Quite an odd addition I'd say.
@@stevehorton2003 I would guess the AC unit is for when they are performing maintenance on the interior of the plow in warmer months. I've worked inside boxcars, plows, and cabooses without proper ventilation and it can get pretty toasty.
@@harryfatcat don’t laugh 😂 wouldn’t be unheard of in that area.
@@harryfatcat that hot snow will cook you!!!!
