Looks GOOD!! They're a blast to run, aren't they??!!
That engine was DEEP!! Usually I seem them fall on their face when they get pulled down 1/2 as far as that one!! Nice grunt!
@HayChaffandSawdust1 Yes that charger would lug. I built this tractor in 2018. Broke the stock transmission half way through the season. Rebuilt transmission for 2019. Won the points championship in 2019. This pull was the last one that year.
Nice cutting young man is your saw stock or has it been ported
@gavinhankinson9158 it's stock with west coast saws bark box on it. Thanks for watching
Curious how much acres do you have??
Beautiful view!!
It won't take too many of THOSE rounds to make a load; the 880 sounds like it runs well.
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 I like it for big trees. Don't have to wear out my 500i, that's what I tipped those trees over with. Those big rounds I'll quarter so I can get them in the wood boiler. Saw is ported a little, base gasket delete. Still needs a muffler mod. Thanks for watching.
@@TheJohnDeereGuythat thing runs damn good 👍
@Florida239 Thanks, not to bad for a Chinese kit saw. Used it today to finish quartering up those big rounds. Thanks for watching.
@@TheJohnDeereGuy that saw is a tourqe monster
Ahhhh, the last 8 rows in the hopper... well, it's a John Deere, so most of it went out the back. 🤣🤣 Just yankin' your chain 😉😉
Running about 17% here (and higher); yields are hit and miss; deer damage is worse than usual; hope you're doing well and don't get tired/hurt; be careful sir!!
@HayChaffandSawdust1 that corn was running around 16%. Very dry for this time of year for around here. The rest is wetter. Going to fill silo with the higher moisture corn. Our Soybeans are done. Have a good one, thanks for commenting.
Boy that ol sled has a hard stop, don't it??!!
Oh no!! Looks like the front end was plowing at the end? Hard to tell with the dirt in the way. What was the original cause?
@HayChaffandSawdust1 Rain...I couldn't tell if the track was greasy or tacky. It was both. It spun taking off, then straight to the wheelie bars, lifting the back tires out of the dirt and the front would drop. After the second time I knew I was in trouble. Ya that last time it came down it bent everything, weights fell off. And left the track on the business end of a loader.
@@TheJohnDeereGuy Oh no! Instant DQ for dropping goodies on the track too, I assume.
From the scoreboard, it looks like a timed-event plus normal tractor pulling measure of distance? Are both considered or averaged with a multiplier-of-sorts to determine a winner? ... can a 1-foot shorter pull beat a longer pull by being faster?
The top number is was my mile per hour. The other one is distance. The farm tractor class is 10 mph. That's the class the 4020 is in. It's fun to see how fast we can go. Usually more speed equals more distance. But not always. Thanks for watching.
@@TheJohnDeereGuy Ok, so the speed is just for personal satisfaction and/or braggin' rights, but has no effect on who wins and loses? I understand. On these newer drag-race sleds (especially) the speed can help a foot or two; and, in a game of inches, that really matters. I actually prefer the old sleds what spread-out the winners and loser farther, but I understand the need for the newer style of sled technology. Thanks!
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 Ya fans want to see speed noise and smoke.
Nice pull!!
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 Thanks for watching.
I may have asked before; is that an MPH class? She looked good!!
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 yes it is a mph class 10 mph 12000 lbs. 3000 rpm limit. Having traction issues. Have to get that sorted out. Having fun. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Where you pull at?
Michigan
By golly, she'll snort won't she!! What weight? Is that light or heavy for that tractor? Seemed like you didn't even get into the motor at all; didn't seem to have sufficient load to smooth it out until the very end!
I run in the open tractor class. That means I might run against super farm, super stocks, modified. It weighs 10000lbs with me on it. That track was a good one for my tractor, kinda sandy and gravely. I still have the governor in my pump. We're having fun. Thanks for watching.
Very nice sounding tractor; nice crowd in the stands too!!! Sure ain't knocking the tractors what STILL look like a tractor, but they don't draw a good crowd around here; if it don't have a 1/2 dozen engines hanging all over it or doesn't have 9 turbos with 75mph wheel speed, not many people watching. Looks like you got the gears all meshing nicely!!
I'll put my tractors video up tomorrow.
We must be brothers. lol. I built one pretty much the same way with a truck stack and all. You can’t beat home built and especially when it doesn’t cost the amount of a traeger or pit boss. Well done.
Maybe lol. I built this smoker with stuff I had lying around. The cost of some of these smokers out there is crazy. It was a fun welding project. Thanks for watching.
@@TheJohnDeereGuy your welcome.
Your dog and I both have drool leaking out of our faces!!
That's Tank. He's my cooking buddy. Yes those ribs were so tasty.
Sure glad you found it now.
Ya me too. Pulling season would have been done quick if that pin fell out.
Hope thissun holds the hoss ponies of the ol' Deere this time and finds a cheaper weak point next time!!
I'm pretty sure it will be ok. My other one, a 4010 has the same set up pretty much accept for ratios. I have been beating on that one for about 5 years. It puts out quite a bit more power than the 4020. Thanks for watching.
Do you ever use that chain break?
@@shaunpreston2839 can't cut anything with that on
What bar length is that? That Ash looks like the firewood logs i dream about, straight, no branches just pure joy to buck it from what it seems. And that 500i runs good, u know how to run a saw good revving good posture
25 inch bar. Thanks for watching and commenting. Yup can't beat the dead ash for firewood.
Your chain is super lose!
@@jeosenlord5237 loose chain it a fast chain
Is that a lightweight bar? The color scheme looked like a lightweight; trying to see the brand and thought maybe Holzfforma? if it is, I didn't know they offered one.
Not a lightweight bar, looks like one though. It is a holtzforma bar and skip chain. I don't like skip chain. This is the second time I cut any wood with it. Oiler wasn't working the first time. Seems like it is now. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes Deere parts are pretty tough. When I built this tractor in 2017, I was told by a veteran puller "It's not if it breaks, it's when it breaks. So I guess he was right. It took 7 years to break it. Pretty good run.
They overbuilt most tractors of that era (and before) to withstand way more Hp, Heat, Abuse...everything than that which they were intended/sold. ... it takes quite a bit of Pony Powers to overcome their overbuilding!! When you push the limits (like you are), it's a constant learning of new weakest-link
What class(es)? Farm Stock? How many hoss pressures do you figure to put through the trans?
Farm stock class. 10 mph and 3000 rpm. 15mph sometimes and open speed sometimes. She chooches out around 700+. Obviously hard on stock parts. 5th and 7th gears were good for years. Started using 6th gear more last year and that was the weak one.
Looks like the ol' 500 will cut. Is that Ash? I've "parked" a few saws that way, myself (with the same look on my face). 😜
Yes it is ash. Great firewood since that's about all they are good for these days. All of them are pretty much dead and falling down in my area. Lol I sure did park it right there and it wasn't going anywhere. I had my 390 there to get it unparked.
@@TheJohnDeereGuy Your ash looks less dead (if that is possible??) than most of ours; can't hardly find one with bark any longer. If I don't bring two saws to the woods, I bring an extra bar and chain and unbolt the powerhead and change bars to cut myself out. Thanks for the reply..
spark plug loose
very cool Build it from kit?
Yes indeed. From tri star supply.
The compression button is going to fall out
Yes it was. I saw it and shut it off. I just had it finger tight and forgot about it. Lol. Thanks for watching.
True😂
Love the 50 series; some of the best to this day
Thanks for watching. We have had this tractor since the early 1990s, it's been a good one.
Sounded like a lot of rpm for a cold start. Is that normal?
Normal for this tractor
