2012 Triumph America with Cocktail Shakers

I purchased this 2012 Triumph America in the Summer of 2019. It had about 20,00 km on it when I bought it used, and had the so called "Cocktail Shaker" exhausts installed. I found the exhaust sound just too loud for me, so I switched them out for the Original equipment mufflers which the seller had provided for me. I found the OEM exhaust to be very quiet however at least I can live with it.

Just another fun thing to do. When you are retired from work you have too much time on your hands so this is the kind of stuff that happens. My kids will be horrified if they see this but....at this point I am too old to worry about it.

Great video and sound track. I get a similar feeling when walking, hiking, or biking. Love being outdoors and moving.
I bought a Speedmaster with those on it. It sounded ridiculous. I switched them out for Freedom Performance sharktails. Threw those bottle shakers right in the garbage. So much nicer now
I bought a second hand 2014 Triumph Thunderbird LT, and put quite a bit of money into it to fit me. Apehanger bars, Corbin seat, slip-on mufflers, etc. The one thing that I Hate, are the saddle-bags.😢 I've reinforced the bags from the inside to reduce how Badly they sag. So different saddle bags are next on my list. It is, for what it is, a very Good handling motorcycle. Lean angle not great, but also not too bad. So, you drag the floorboards sometimes, they have Tungsten Carbide scrapper bars on them for protection, and they work great. I thought of selling it, but now that I've had it for a couple years, I think I'll keep it.😂 Oh yeah, one other thing, the belt drive churp was driving me nuts, until I put Teflon on the sides of the belt, and I shimmed the rear drive pulley to line up with the front drive pulley.😅

I bought these . They sound HORRIBLE. get down on it and let off gas while still in gear. Pow pow pow. Like a shot gun. Took them back off and put stockers on. Never again.
Some popping is normal with open exhausts but excessive popping is the result of an exhaust leak or the bike is out of tune (goes out of whack when changing pipes) or you still have the AIS system installed that pumps air into the exhaust and causes unburned fuel to pop inside the exhaust.

Have these on my ‘14 America they are VERY loud I bought an adjustable baffle with packing and it’s still loud but much better because these fire at 270 makes bike sound like a Harley

Why not add some baffels from EMGO? or you can just put some stainless dish scrubbers in there with a screen. Im about to install some on my 2005.

I didnt learn to appreciate how great Cream was until long after their heyday. I would have so loved to see them live. Wow!

I’ve always liked triumphs and now they’ve gone and out done themselves that is a beautiful bike you might want to shop around for insurance if it’s that expensive.. oh don’t take the food board off you’ll learn to love them
They dont make these anymore now or 2 years ago.I am thinking about buying second hand but parts maybe a problem
Where's the T-bird?
I traded the T bird in when I bought my Indian Vintage. I love the Indian but I also miss like hell my Triumph Thunderbird. So last year I bought, as a second bike, a used Triumph America. The America is a great little runabout but damn, I still miss the T Bird...
They have one at a local triumph dealer. I was Intested in it untill they started it, I laughed because it reminds me of the jetsons spaceship. I walked away due the sound and limited to no aftermarket options.
Not true . There is Tors exhaust that is available and also Vance and Hines. You laugh but it's a bargain of a deal for a very reliable bike.

I just recently picked up a 2014 with Vance and Hines aftermarket slip ons, with the normal baffles. Sounds great!
What happened to your Thunderbird? Did you ever do any videos with it?

If it had a cruise control I would've bought one. Elected for the road king, I like that its liquid cooled though...

Get some TORS. It will sound better. Comes with free mapping. I've just purchased identical bike but I'm in Australia. Same colour. I've just fitted mine out with quite a few luxury items including power supply in the panniers.
