Thank you for the question @zizibelle2753! Ideally, you need to clean and prep the data before you do the merging and always check the data quality before going into report mode. Especially when you face data quality issues on the columns you are planning to use as key/connecting columns between two tables. This is one of the hidden "weaknesses" of the Merge functionality as it won't flag/alert you for any inconsistencies in the merge and once you perform it and then expand the columns the result will be to get new column(s) with many null values. I'd definitely both before and after the merge to check the quality of your data/columns by going to View - Data Preview and activating the "Column Quality" and "Column Distribution" and do a check on key cols, if not all. Also, on the bottow left corner of your power query editor window left click and switch to "Column Profiling based on entire data set" rather than 'Column Profiling based on top 1000 rows". hope it helps!

XLOOKUP is a great function but its weakness is that it is currently ONLY available to Office 365 users and it is not backward compatible with older versions of Excel. In other words, you either get O365 or you cannot really use this and still if you use it and share the file with some that has an older version of Excel , even 2019 one, XLOOKUP is not working...while Power Query is available to everyone having excel versions 2013+ , so broadly speaking a much larger % of Excel users can take advantage of this great tool. if and once MSFT decides to make those new functions available to older versions of Excel we can actually compare XLOOKUP to Power Query or any other function.

when projecting the future growth you need to use the most recent and representative data. If you believe that the last 4 months are a good proxy for the future then you need to use them as the main driver and ignore the prior data or you could do some kind of weighted approach, again putting more focus on the latest data. Sales projections is critical and requires a good amount of research on the company and its peers. Also, you need to take into account any abnormalities like for e.g. the pandemic that might distort the real prospects of the firm. At the end of the day it is just an assumption but it is the most critical one. What is more important is to design the model in a dynamic manner and cater for scenarios so that to check alternative regimes. hope it helps!
