5 min. series: Dr. Hichem Maya, SAP AG - "Defining Smart Cities"
The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) had hosted the first session of the Dubai Smart Cities Forum earlier this year, which facilitated discussions on issues relating to the Dubai Smart City initiative that was announced in February 2014 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Rashik Parmar, President, IBM Academy of Technology and Dr. Hichem Maya, Head of Business Transformation Services, SAP, led the session.
In this video, we speak to Dr. Hichem Maya on his views on the Smart Cities initiatives. He goes on to say: “A smart city improves living standards, transforms governments and boosts economic prosperity. If we are to achieve this objective, we need to ensure that the public and private sector is flexible, agile, innovative, and capable of engaging individuals and communities.”

I am willing to assume that the data brought in this video is genuine. However, if there is such a large portion of the Muslim population that is for democracy, freedom of speech and women's equality - why is there so little of these values in the Muslim world? One might argue that the voice of the people was not heard until the "Arab spring" came along. But then why did the Egyptians, when finally given the opportunity to vote, elect parties like the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Noor.?

Another example of how little Muslim-majority nations (except for Turkey and maybe some of the old Soviet "stans") are viewed, is that despite the fact that many Muslim countries, particularly the Arab world, are low-wage countries incredibly close to European markets, the Capitalist refuses to set up simple sewing and/or textile factories in these countries but will otherwise do so in China and "The Rim Of Asia" despite higher labor and shipping costs; that just about says it all.

There is one fact which the US government will not address ever about the motive behind the terrorist attack of 9/11 which is due to the unconditional support of the US to Israel. This is why US got attacked and Bush never told this to the American so they don't start questioning the relationship with Israel. so he kept saying that muslims don't like our freedom and the way we drink and party. Frankly, US freedom & partying is not a cause for some 1 to commit sucide, its time for US to be fair

@cordedpoodle I want to say peace to you. Have you ever wondered why our government was to fool americans in some of the greatest scandals in history? JFK, Enron, and most recently, the housing debacle. You should ask yourself, why our government never give us direct answers to anything. It's always a matter of security. If I believe that foreign Muslims attack on 9/11, ask yourself, do you yourself, would you want any other country trying to tell Americans how to live their lives?

"The question in all American's minds on 9/11: Why did they do it? What did we do to them?" Well not ALL Americans. I predicted they'd do it or something like it. I was only surprised how ignorant the media was that day. Supposedly educated people. I'm astounded Americans are still ignorantly clueless as to why they did it. It' obvious and it was predictable.

@jesusteama1 As for those who not fight against you because of religion, neither drive you forth from your home, God does not forbid you to show them kindness and deal equitably with them. Truly God loves those who act equitably, God only forbids you to turn in friendship towards those who fight against you because of religion and drive you forth from your homes, or help in driving you forth Whoever makes friends of them-- such are wrong doers. (60:8-9)

The Arabs gave up nothing, while Israel has given up Gaza, Sinai, and most of transjordan which was meant to be all part of Israel. The only thing the Arabs have done is terrorize, start wars, and then cry that things should go back to how they were prior to their aggression and starting the wars. Cry babies and whiners, is all they are. If you start a war and lose, at least be humble, not cry about losing! Pathetic!

And what's it to you if she works for Obama and wants Shariah Law? A lot of Muslim Americans want Shariah Law. Shariah Law would only apply to the Muslims.

  • @Omer698

You cannot impose Sharia law on non Muslims and Hizb Ut Tahrir is not an extremist party

  • @abbienetvision

14Oct.2009 Miss Mogahed, appointed to the President's Council on Faith-Based and Neighbourhood Partnerships, said the Western view of Sharia was "oversimplified" and the majority of women around the world associate it with "gender justice". The White House adviser made the remarks on a London-based TV discussion programme hosted by Ibtihal Bsis, a member of the extremist Hizb ut Tahrir party. She wants Sharia law in USA and works for Obama...really nice, huh?
