How to Make a Puzzle Box in a Steampunk Style

This is my latest completed project. It's a puzzle box with a secret method of opening. It's designed to look like an oak box with a flip lid and lock. The video shows the secret to opening with the entire construction sped up so you can see 150 hours of work in 13 minutes. Of course, it's a bit Steampunk in style. Interesting! We have a 1948 Christian Becker balance, which was broken during shipping. The glass plate at the bottom was cracked into multiple pieces. We have been told it cannot be repaired. My grandfather purchased it in the mid 50's for $75. He actually spoke with Becker on the phone who told him it would have been originally sold for about $750. Do you have any ideas where to go to make glass replacements of this sort? Thanks. Jean
@@crazycook82 I am sorry but I am not sure where you could find someone to make a replacement. I would try to find a similar model on eBay or at a flea market to use for parts that has the baseplate intact. If it is not too shattered and all the pieces are available you could try bonding it together with a clear epoxy.

There got to be a better way to cut a gear.
There are other methods using a gear hob and gear cutting tool. I couldn’t find a small enough cutting tool and I don’t have gear hob. These clock gears would have originally been stamped from sheet metal.

How might I design something like this but just where two planetoids move, but not just along the Y and Z axis, but instead along the X axis? So it goes around in a circle, up above and down below. And around an object, in fact? I want to make a model of the Discworld and have it have a moving glowing sun and moon. A lamp basically.

This is a Copernican Orrery that contains only the planets known in antiquity. Also, those planets would have orbits of 20 to 30 feet at the scale of this Orrery.$
