Good video. Thanks
Thank you
Subscribed! I watched a few vid before yours and most were far more complicated. Thank you for posting this Shane. I've started smelling oil in my AC vent and am pretty sure this is the culprit. Is there a torque spec we should be worried about or simply hand tighten til the bolts won't move?
Thank you, good luck. I just hand tighten bolts.
@@shanecasteel8202 Thanks! Knocking it out tomorrow. I'll letya know how it goes.
beautiful job.loved it!
Hi my mazda cx9 2012 overheating because of water pump malfunction, so the mecanique change it, and the timing chain as well, but I still have the engine light on. Can you tell me please what could be the problem?
Nice video thank you. I need to replace mine on my 2011 ecoboost. can you tell me what tool will fit back there to take out those bolts? did you just use a socket with 8 mm?
Best video on replacing the vacuum pump. Honestly, worst job I've ever done, it's such a pain getting back there. Lost 4 bolts already.
Thanks Shane. Going to be doing this next week on my 2013 F150. Appreciate this Sir
How’d it go? I’m about to try it
I have a 2009 Chevy traverse no Sharp
Good video - thanks! My pump wasn't nearly as clean as the one shown in this video -- makes me concerned the engine may not have received the best of care =(
I've seen all the videos about this repair... you win, sir!
Great video thank you sir 👍🏻
Ford fucked everyone with this vacuum pump . Will never buy a ford again . Ever
So if those two ears are not lined up, the vacuum pump won't function? Just installed a new vacuum pump and didn't realize those ears had to be lined up with the cylinder head or something. Still a major misfire and no suction from the vacuum pump. What else can it be.
Those two tabs have to be lined up with the cam shaft to function properly. You may need to double check your installation to ensure proper operation.
Okay and then also. What would make the driver side Cadillac converter hot and the passenger side cold... Wouldn't have anything to do with the vacuum pump would it n are the intake camshaft positioning timing or sensor
Anybody know where I can get that center brass pin for the vacuum pump. It had fallen off into the hole on the engine block and to get another one you have to buy the whole unit. If someone could find me one, I will play extra to have one overnight shipped. Thanks everyone! Rob in Minnesota
I have a problem that the scanner reported, but I see that the air doesn't work. code b2610-000 compartment dimming 1 circuit. I bought a 2012 Chevrolet traverse with a “new” sound and the original one came too, but this new radio doesn't work, could this code be because they removed the original radio and put in a newer, more up-to-date one? In addition to this code, there were others (BCM) u0184-00 lost communication with radio, (EBCM) system disabled information stored invalid serial data received
Thanks a ton on this video. I’ll be tackling this the weekend after next. Very very helpful 😊
Your welcome good luck!
I know what I'll be doing this weekend. I just noticed a faint wiff of burning oil coming thru the AC vents in my 2013 F150. Took a look under the hood and saw oil residue on the passenger side bell housing from above. I've been looking at youtube videos and it doesn't seem like too much to handle. Thanks for the tutorial!
Me to
Check your valve covers too. I had to replace mine right after I replaced the vacuum pump on my '13.
Nice video. Did you push in or pull out the plunger prior installation. Im asking because that plunger is movable by pushing and pulling .. thank mate
No other video mentions keeping that bolt in, thank you for that tip!
For clarification, if it isn't lined up with the Camshaft will the pump not go back in? As in, you wont be able to get the pump on properly if you do not line it up? Or is there the risk that it will be installed incorrectly if it isn't lined up?
You did dat Fairy God- Dad!
Great job! Loved your video ❤
Thank you,I really appreciate that!
About to start in the morning. Best video by far. Great job!
Thank you and good luck!
The white tab on the vacuum line everyone breaks is because they are trying to push it up. Pry down on it and pull on the vacuum tube and it comes right apart.
Good video. I'll be doing this job to my truck tomorrow!
Me too!
Great video and explanation of the install and tricks to make it as easy as possible.
I subscribed, one of the most well designed and detailed videos on how to get this job done. Thanks.
Thank you for your kind words! It’s really appreciated.
Did you torque your bolts? I'm afraid of hand tightening for fear of snapping off the bolts but I dont have a torque wrench small enough for this tight space.
No I didn’t torque bolts down. I’ve been doing this a long time. I have a natural feel for when the bolts are tight enough. Usually a little tighter than they need to be. If you can get a torque wrench in there and feel more comfortable with that I’d suggest you do that. It definitely can’t hurt. I hope this helps.
@@shanecasteel8202 thank you for the reply. I couldn’t find a torque wrench small enough so I hand tightened them. Just waiting on the Petex to set up before I run it and check for leaks.
The frame horn can be replaced their is a procedure for it and can be done to factory specifications
🤣 🤣 🤣 Loved your comment about doing the job in braille... Great video. Thanks
That’s pretty damn good usage of that word too! I’ve had to do the Braille thing with my old Civic while reaching under the intake manifold to some 10mm bolts 😂
Love it!! I'll tackle this starting Friday! Is there a torque spec that you are aware of for tightening the 3 bolts?
89 inch-pounds
* Wow you did an amazing job!!!!! I removed the tire, and the fender liner. Not too bad.
Gr8 video & very informative. Thanks
questions:which ones are intake valves?if the exhaust valves are too tight do i have to loosen them to get the right feeler in or just leave them tight as is?thanks
How much time should i wait to drive again or after the 24 hour cure time
It depends on what kind of sealer you used. Typically a good sealer would be semi cured after a couple of hours. The sealer I use is cured after about 45 minutes.
Gettin ready to dive in,thanks
Good luck! Hope it goes well!
Thanks made me a bit more confident to do this at home.
You’re welcome! I wish you the best of luck!
Likewise for me. Calm cool and collected. Much appreciated.
Great video! You explained everything so thoroughly!
Thank you !
How in the world did you get the vacuum line Quick disconnect unplugged?
Will this fit a 2011 F150 with the 3.5 eco boost? Everywhere I look it states 2013-2015
They have all seemed to be about the same as far as the ones I have repaired. I’ve only seen a few subtle differences. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the video. will save me a min.
Fantastic! I hope it helped!
Did u torque it down ?
Best video out there on how to do this. Just did it this morning, kind of a PITA.
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Should you let the silicone set for any amount of time?
Typically about 10 minutes should be ample time for the silicone to set up.
Thank you, sir. I appreciate your reply.
Thank for the tip
Thanks for helping to fill in a few blanks on the install for me. A lot of the videos I've seen have said the pump itself starts leaking out the back side and it's best to swap the whole thing. What's been your experience?
I’ve only had to replace a couple of pumps the were actually leaking. I usually clean it thoroughly with brake clean, test drive and then inspect it with a mechanic mirror to see if it’s the actual pump or their O ring. I typically don’t have a problem verifying which one is leaking. It is possible for the pump to leak. Good luck,I hope this helps.
Great job and tips Shane. I was going to replace the whole pump assembly but it looks like I might get away with just buying the O ring and gasket maker. Also my 13 looks like I have less room between the pump and firewall. I can barely get my hand behind it. I hope I don't need to remove the front wheel and fender liner to access it from below like I seen in other videos.
Thank you,I appreciate the kind words. I’m not aware of much of a difference in the cab design. It is a somewhat tight fit. Two of the three bolts are fairly easy to reach. It’s actually fairly easy to remove the inner fender well if you choose to go that route. I have to remove those all the time to replace the exhaust manifold in those trucks. 5.5 millimeter bolts and some retainer clips and it out of the way. Good luck and if you’re a little patient, you can do it.
🥹🥹😭😭😭😁😁😁😂😂😂
I thought it was 22 on intake and 30 on exhaust it says it right there on the hood I went by that and the engine sounded like a diesel where did you get the 8 on intake and 10 on exhaust
Absolutely Beautiful! Thank you so much for your video tutorial. My husband is building one thanks to your tutorial it has helped us so much. What did you use for the seat cover? We are still undecided if we should leave it just on wood board. Thanks in advance!
