Thank you for this excelllent lecture! It makes me wonder what Dr. Price privately thought the probabily would be of the American Revolution being successful. Or the life expectancy of the leaders of the Revolution as they were viewed as traitors by the British establishment.
Thank you for posting this incredible conversation about Dr Richard Price. This was good background information on a video I created about him on the Welsh American Channel. The focus is his significant contribution to the Founding Fathers of the US, and the American Revolution. Thanks again...
Thank you, we need a conscious awakening in this country again self awareness in the world and for humanity is lacking severely.
a special event indeed - but ruined by terrible audio quality! Who was in charge of the mics?!!!
Thanks for this - came in just now as a TH-cam suggestion and it was well worth a listen. Plenty to think about.
As a 71 year old I grew up in the Rhondda knowing certain things Labour let you down, my ward had a communist Councillor, the lovely Annie Powell. Paul Robeson was the greatest American of his time. (Maybe all time) That voice and a communist. If you were Welsh you were Welsh and your colour had no relevance. (Shirley Bassey was Welsh, Tony Cordle was Welsh, and Paul Robeson was Welsh in our hearts) (birth place wasn't an obstacle to being Welsh, check our rugby teams) People now use modern theory to examine past reality. I must say anyone who didn't live in the mining valleys of South Wales will never understand how we thought and think. When you know that by the end of a working day you or a friend might be dead, when you know you are going to die years before your manager, and when you know that your life will never be recorded or remembered you tend to focus on what matters every man i knew loved Paul Robeson. And from what I've read he knew and appreciated that,
Thanks for Uploading.
Typo yn y teitl?
Diolch.
Nonsense and lies
This is all true - sadly. I too am proud of being Welsh, but we still need to recognise the wrongs of our ancestor's past, as uncomfortable as that may be.
please use your brain.
Well he knows the resurrection of Christ is not just a metaphor now.
Interesting. Thanks!
An excellent item from the Learned Society of Wales.
Elin Rhys expertly evokes passionate discussions in interviews with three distinguished scientists to reveal their joys and excitement during scientific research during their journeys of discovery. The session provides a compellingly coherent message that persistent endeavour is the secret of success. Essential viewing for young people contemplating their next moves.
this guy is a hero to us, the Russian jews; he wasn't afraid to stand by his jailed Jewish friends when he came with a concert to USSR in 1949
The fact that Robeson received such prominence and love even in the environment of racism of the time is a tribute to his greatness. He did seem to have a blind spot when it came to the Soviets. Though the Soviets were only able to make capital out of racial atrocities in the US because the racial atrocities were taking place in the US. For all his faults (and who among us is without fault) he was a truly great man and the world is a better place for him having been in it.
Congratulations, dear Annie! You are an amazing scholar and teacher to me!

I was always told and I thought that Wells was not involved in any sort of slave trade but it looks likeit was a calling to you so that means the whole world was involved in the slave trade no one is innocent of being slave masters then

Can't wait to read Hamed Amiri's book. Thanks Mike.
Such a shame about the audio 🤦♂️
As usual : you might imagine that a University like Swansea - or any University for that matter - could manage a decent audio / Mic set up for an occasion like this .? ? And , as usual , you'd be wrong !! Unbelievable - but that's how it invariably is !!
sound is terrible! Is there anything you can do? thank you.
Among my favourite poets are Shadwell, Cibber, Rowe, Warton, Austin and Bronowski.
This was very good - I was fortunate to be there!
