Amazing recording!I love these mountain forest soundscapes.Nice one!Which schoeps microphones did you use for this recording? Thanks for sharing.Best regards from northern Franconia Germany.
When you finally had enough of that baby crying at 3 am-
Very useful , thanks.
ayy nice 701 !
Dude, the light lamp up there in your room disturbs pretty much in watching the video, so try to turn it off and turn on some better positioned light lamp from your side or front ...
😂😂
RUN!

Sounds like someone just shat themselves at 0:04 hahahaha
Can Bluetooth headphones be connected to this recorder? Thanks 4 your reply in advance
I am old enough that many higher frequencies have become inaudible. What would be interesting for me is to hear the audible and inaudible (even ultrasonic) frequencies "compressed" together into a range that we could hear. I imagine that modern hearing aids are trying to do something similar while perhaps boosting/amplifying the entire range. "Expanding" the range to include higher frequencies would perhaps give us a better idea of what some animals can hear. Very interesting, thank you!
Thanks! Definitely an interesting idea, I’ll have to play around with different ways of maybe just shifting the super high and ultrasonic frequencies down to an audible range while preserving the lows? Maybe just muting the easy to hear stuff as well.
Can you hook it up to a mixer ? Can you record from a mixer to the RO -7 ??
Great, honest review. One point..... next time use the R07 with lav mike for your audio and lose the desk mike and puff shield. Audio would have been much better and you wouldn't have had to remind yourself to keep your face to the side....(looked like you were scared of showing your face..... just sayin'! Hey, but it's the information that counts!
<a cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
@@skyriversound8964 Thank you very mutch... have a nice day.... see you….
0:32 it was good smash
I was just curious what your process was to go down more than one octave on Little Alterboy? Did you use multiple instances of it at the same time, or did you render the pitch down and then apply and render again? Or is there a way to go down more than one octave in Little Alterboy, and I just never paid attention to it? LOL
Sorry it took me a while to reply. I don’t know how to set notifications in the TH-cam manager app. For going down multiple octaves I had multiple instances in series then rendered them all together at once.
Sounds kind of off and less distinct than the original.
That’s good feedback to have, thank you!
@@skyriversound8964 Don't get me wrong, it sounds cool but the original really sells the idea of super heated plasma gas being expanded as you open the blade. Yours sounds sort of more electrical, and maybe something I'd associate more with a forerunner weapon maybe?
Maybe try splicing your sounds with the classic sounds, it might be really good that way.
@@ShinkuRED Good point, thanks for listening in detail! Listening to reference material, learning from it and applying it is something I need to improve, I tend to hear the sound I want in my head then I jump right into what I need to do to get there.
thanks for your video, is it possbile to use headphone wirelessly and iphone app at the same time?
Thanks for your question! I don’t believe you can have more than one Bluetooth device connected at a time, that may change with a firmware update but last I heard it is one or the other.
@@skyriversound8964 HI Mate, I have purchsed r-07, campare it with H4n, the r07 builtin mic record less dynamic of sound wave than zoom H4n, which feel more vivid, more information. I finished project reording wind band, the drums, trumpet sound very flat in r07. the builtin mic is realtively smaller than zoom h4n, that's probably why. I wish zoom h1n have blue tooth connection, and peak light signal. however, I like the r-07 cute little design.
Thanks for the observations and comparison, I haven’t tried the H4n but I really like my H8. The big strength of the R-07 for me is that I can easily take it places that would be less practical for my other recorders. I usually run it with external mics and it does quite well. Use whatever works for you, the gear doesn’t make as much of a difference as recording technique does.
I tried updating to the latest firmware. Having issues.
Hmmm... I’ve only done firmware once with this. It was counter-intuitive for me, but I did get it working. When was the latest firmware update released?
Thanks for your honest review on this recorder. Do you know if it is possible to hear audio on your phone with the App? I can't seem to figure that one out. not a dealbreaker but it would be a nice feature for sure. Looks like the app is really only for triggering the recording, and adding markers.
Thanks for your question! As far as I can tell the Bluetooth in the R-07 will connect either to the app or to a Bluetooth headset but no audio is sent through to the phone and you can’t connect both a phone and wireless headphones at the same time. The cleanest audio path would be to monitor connected straight to the headphone out with a cable as wireless connections would all involve lossy compression like an mp3.
@@skyriversound8964 That makes sense. Thanks for the quick response!
Thanks for the kindness my guy
Have you tried to power it by power bank?
Sorry for the late reply, but yes! It works fantastically with any USB power supply. Really big plus for longer trips in the field.
I can hear this when i charge my phone and use a microphone together hahaha
That’s awesome! I’d love to hear it!
Yeah this one is way better than the original, because it is more real other than the broken fuel rod cannon sound from halo
Thank you! I’m flattered!
This one is very weird, it looks like a ray gun, not liked it
Cool but what would be the sound of plasma?
I agree
This one is way more agressive than the spartan laser original sound, but it have too much cracks and it does not look like a laser, it just remember a laser
Great
Thank you!
@@skyriversound8964 i think it really fits with the brute shot, because it is like a "brute grenade launcher", it fits so much that for me it could be the original sound from halo, because it looks better than the original one
Хорошая вещь
Спасибо!
I have the Olympus LS100, Sony PCM D100, and the Sony PCM-M10. I'm always looking for portable recorders with the lowest noise floor from it's pre-amps. I like to record natural nature ambient sounds usually at low volumes which requires me to raise the amps to capture the sounds and the hissing sounds from the recorder kills recording. I'm considering the Roland R07. I like it's compactness, and love the Bluetooth monitoring which allows me to be further away from the recorder and not introduce sounds from me when monitoring. I also like how the R07 I can do dual recordings, incase the main recorder gets clipped. I have a couple of recordings on an alt channel I have with some of the recordings: th-cam.com/users/ezra4no1videos
This is awesome! I didn't know I could set up dual recordings in case one clipped. I'll have to try that out because sometimes I'll start recording and forget that I was recording quiet ambiences the day before and then BAM!
DJI mic is what you really want
Awesome sound!
Thank you!
Awesome work mate!
Thank you very much!
are you implementing the sound on something like unity, or you're just adding the sounds on a video of the gameplay? would like to start to make some sound redesign video as well : )
Thank you for your comment! In this case I’m just replacing sounds to a video. I know a bit of implementation with Unity and Wwise, given time I could probably learn a proprietary engine like Halo uses, but I’m focusing less on implementation lately and more on creating assets. I hope that answer was helpful.
That’s awesome that you want to do some sound redesigns as well, let me know if you have any questions!
thank you : )
You are welcome!
Insert each mic into ear-shape silicone, attach each silicone-ear to the sides of a wide duffel bag. Fill the bag with a sweater and items for a day out. More convenient and lower cost than a 3DioPro mic or carrying around a dummy-head.
That's a good idea! Adding some frequency coloration between channels will definitely affect the stereo image. I have some in-ear binaural mics from Roland that I like. For the Mikro Usi, I've been thinking about putting some dense foam or MDF in the middle of the handheld bar kind of like a Jecklin Disc, but haven't decided yet on the design.
What was the name of that resource you mentioned at the end of the video?
Sorry for the long reply, not sure why it takes so long for me to see TH-cam comments. The link you are looking for is th-cam.com/users/AkashThakkarAudio
Fantastic information, thanks for sharing👍
Thank you for your feedback! Helps me know what to do for future videos. Have a fantastic day!
What resources would you recommend for learning simple implementation code like you were using at 8:58? I'm totally clueless about scripting and code but I'd love to learn and get better at implementing my sounds and music into the games I work on.
I took a course from adamtcroft.com, although I don’t know if he is offering the course right now or not. He still has fantastic resources for teaching you to script in Lua for Reaper. Cujo Sound on TH-cam also gives some excellent tutorials for free on his channel. It’s in the Wwise Unity playlist.
@@skyriversound8964 Great! Thanks so much, I'll check those out
Wow, man, I love your workflow in Reaper. Would be awesome if you could cover some more topics about using this daw for sound design. Thank you!
Absolutely! I’ll definitely keep doing more videos about Reaper for sound design. In the meantime, Akash Thakkar just released the first in his series of videos on Reaper for game audio, and his work is always top quality.
Awesome stuff👍
Thanks!
Can you send the files via Bluetooth to your Computer?
I don’t believe so. I haven’t tried connecting Bluetooth with anything other than my phone, and I didn’t read anything about Bluetooth file transfer in the manual. Maybe they’ll include this in an update.

@@skyriversound8964 Cool I look forward to it.
hey mate, your work is very well done! How do you find the right people to get these types of sound design jobs?
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. As far as finding the right people, are you asking from the perspective of a game dev looking for a sound designer, or the other way around?
Soundly is awesome! Highly recommended for all the sound engineers and post production audiophiles out there. Great sound design btw.
Thank you! Yes, I must say I am impressed with Soundly for the quality of sounds they provide, the variety and number of sounds available is staggering also. Add that to a stable and easy to use platform and they make a sweet offer.
Thumbs up!!!
Blake McNees thank you much!
Looking forward to seeing your tutorials. I am personally interested in your approach to designing various sounds (anything sci-fi, magical, weapons, engines etc, using organic/synthetic source).
innokenty Thank you! Sci-Fi, magic, vehicles and weapons are my favorite sounds to make. I’ll show how I use a combination of recorded sounds, synths and effects to make different sounds.
