Impressive video, Gemma's House. Looking forward to your next upload from you. I hit the thumbs up icon on your content. Keep up the fantastic work! Your transformation of the backyard is truly inspiring. Have you considered incorporating more native plants to enhance biodiversity and attract even more local wildlife?

So excited to expand a quilt that was gifted from my parents’
Yayyy!!! Have fun and I hope it turns out well! I have two more quilts I want to increase their widths and I already bought fabric ON SALE to work on those! Thanks for watching my channel and commenting!
@ I’ve not quilted except for making a T-shirt quilt. Also have challenge of the taller mattress, and the edging of the quilt is small squares turned to diamond direction. I may need the quilt store to suggest remedy to that.
@@aprillucas-boyle222 Take your time when you're putting the borders together, and working through the steps. Also, if you want, you can email pics of the quilt to me at gemmashouse888@gmail.com and I'll see if I can suggest something that might work.
Happy New Year! Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous and what a great price!
@@robinsquiltbasket Happy New Year's Eve to you too! I bought all the fabrics and batting on a great sale!! Thanks for watching!
Your quilt is really pretty, Theresa. I love to use flannel for backings on my quilts as well. I buy flannel from fabric stores, but also purchase flannel sheets as well. I never have any trouble quilting with the flannel. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I love using flannel as the backing too! Soooo cozy! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thinking about buying a Jazz II, so seeing it in motion was so helpful. Many, many thanks for a nice and informative video that was at a good pace for me.

I also have several quilts I need to add borders to except I just want to add to the width’s on them, the length is fine. I think this version would be easier. Do you show any of yours doing just the width?
Hi! I think you could increase just the width on your quilt and make the necessary adjustments from the instructions I give in my two videos. I also have several queen-size quilts that I only need to increase the width on. So I'll be doing those at some point. Good luck with your project, and thank you for watching and commenting!
I have a black linen lined frame and would like to lighten up the color of the linen.. Can you comment on that? I would like the texture to show. Thank you
Hi! Even though I've only painted light-colored linen liners on frames, I think it would still work on a darker linen liner. What color are you thinking of doing? I would make sure the acrylic paint is thinned with water, and paint it on in layers, trying to control any overlapping of paint so that you get a consistent look. Maybe put a coat of really thinned-down paint on first, let it dry, and then decide if you want to paint on additional coats. It MIGHT take a few layers, but making sure the paint is still thin enough so that the linen texture still shows. Let us know how it goes! And thank you for checking out my channel and commenting!
I have a huge Robert Wood sofa painting that I got on fb marketplace, the seller nailed a hole thru the linen! And it’s stained. I used plastic wood in the hole and dragged a pin thru it to resemble linen. Now to paint it! Should only take a week or so 🤪
@@AmandaE1964 That sounds like a fun project and I bet it turns out nice! Let us know how it turns out. By the way, I LOVE Robert Woods landscapes! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@ it turned out great! I love Robert Woods too. The linen was light ivory and now it’s a moss green, the painting is an Autumn scene, Path of Gold. 🧡
@@AmandaE1964 Wow, I'm so happy to hear about that. I would love to see a pic of how the linen looks in green with that beautiful Robert Wood landscape! I bought a few framed Robert Wood landscape prints in the past couple years, but ended up painting over two of them because the prints weren't such great quality, but I really loved the vintage frames that were on them. So I did my own paintings using the thick cardboard print as a "canvas" and they turned out great. Also, if the print isn't so nice, you could touch it up with acrylic paints and brighten up parts of it if necessary. Just a thought for future projects!
Theresa you are so talented. That looks wonderful!
@@robinsquiltbasket Thanks so much! Have a good holiday!

Oh my gosh! This was exactly what I was looking for🥰 I thought I was crazy trying to figure out a way to clean up my grandmothers old oil painting! The frame itself is beautiful but the liner was kinda nasty looking! I’m gifting this heirloom to my daughter for her wedding and I’ve been racking my brain trying to be creative. I thought about mod podge fabric or even heavy paper( which actually looked amazing from a distance) 😮 and my cuts were not straight enough no matter what I did! And this frame is so old that I don’t think it’s a good idea to take it apart. Then I said oh can I paint it ?! but I was TERRIFIED to ruin my grandmothers art! I will be trying this tomorrow! Thank you so so much! Subscribed!

How does the machine work am tired of buying sewing machine and they don’t work
The machine has been working great! There is a Facebook group just on this particular sewing/quilting machine if you want to hear about the issues with this machine. Thanks for watching my channel.
It’s a mechanical, not computerized. No touch screen, etc.

Thanks for the video! This is exactly the problem I have with staining on the linen matting. I appreciate you mentioning that watering down the paint keeps the texture of the linen intact. Can’t wait to get to work.

What’s the difference of Chaulk paint vs regular paint?
Chalk paint is still a water-based paint like acrylics, but I don't know what the difference is in the "ingredients." And chalk paint dries to a matte finish and does look a little "chalky," although it doesn't come off on your fingers or anything, and it feels a little rougher than acrylics. I wouldn't use the painted object without putting some type of protective topcoat on it first. From watching TH-cam videos about chalk paint, apparently you can distress the furniture edges easily by lightly sanding them. Also, they always use a wax as a protective coat on it. I looked online and found an article by a furniture flipper and he said he always uses polycrylic instead of wax because it lasts longer and doesn't need to be redone every couple years like a wax topcoat needs to be. This was my first time using chalk paint. Hope this info was helpful.
Very nice outcome!

I am a beginner FMQ on jazz2, struggling with which tension is right. Used 5 - the front looks good but the back is just thread sitting on top of the fabric - not really stitches - I had to rip it all out! I will try pushing increasing my speed With the foot pedal. Thank you for the video
I hope the video was helpful in some ways! I definitely had tension problems when I first bought my Jazz II. The guy who I was taking my sewing machines to finally was able to repair the tension once and for all. So I'm now able to use a tension of 4 for free-motion quilting as well as for general sewing. Make sure you have the presser foot down when you're free-motion quilting. And also make sure the bobbin spool (used for winding bobbins, on the top right of the machine) is pushed all the way back to the left when you're finished winding bobbins. Also, I had joined a Facebook group called "Jazz 2 Sewing Machines" and it's really interesting to hear about everyone's problems on this machine. Maybe you can look into that Facebook group and pose your questions. And please make sure to catch my other videos I have on my channel page about free-motion quilting! I hope your project works out! Thank you for watching my channel and commenting!
The upper tension for FMQ should be between 8 - 9. I usually end up with it all the way up to 9.
@@marleneruppert1874 When I first got my Jazz II, I had to have the upper tension all the way up at 9 also. I can't remember now exactly what the problem was, but it still wasn't working well even with the tension on 9. That's why I took it to my repair guy (twice) and he finally fixed it so that I can keep the tension on 4 for both general sewing and FMQ. I think every Jazz II behaves differently, from what I'm seeing in people's comments on the Facebook group. Good luck with your machine and FMQ!
This is genius and it turned out so great!! Beautiful ❤

Love love your video! Well explained with details. I just received the Jazz 2 machine, set onto a Grace Cutie frame with my 1st quilt loaded. Even though you're freehand machine quilting, I jumped into your video for added tips in which you are superb at presenting!... I am so glad I did. Freehand or frame, your suggestion of starting in the middle and working outward just makes good sense...as it would help smooth outwards, the slightest fabric that could pinch / bunch up. Love the idea of a "tight" meandering that helps to cause the 'puff" that old fashioned quilts are known for. A JOB WELL DONE...THANK YOU SO MUCH!
