I’m English. I remember the campaign to join the EU. I was bewildered by the gullibility of people who believed the obvious fantasies and lies of Johnson and Farage. Now the country is obviously worse off financially and we’ve returned to the none sense of passport control, and MORE illegal immigration.

From being an observer of politics in many places, the best way to understand what is really going on, ignoring the politics of personality etc the most telling way is to pay attention to the money sources supporting one, or often BOTH major parties [in any country], and ask the question "Who benefits from these policies?" Surprisingly [Lol], it is usually the money suppliers / lobbyists from a particular section of society, or industry... Asking this ONE question cuts out a LOT of noise, and brings attention to the sources of power - monied interests. Nothing corrupts democracy more thoroughly than vested interests...

The minute they said they were having a Brexit Referendum i was telling people this was insanity. So many people argued with me and told me I was wrong. If you think that Brexit was about trade then you do not understand Brexit (or the EU) and therein lies the problem. Before the EU was created (as the EEC) Britain traded freely with the whole of Europe... to control the whole of Europe the EEC had to take control of each countries trade... so sovereignty was lost on the false argument that it was about trade... it wasn't it was about using trade to take control of sovereignty. Brexit was about restoring national sovereignty and it that meant losing some trading rights with the EU... so be it. Smart Brits do not want to be controlled by a foreign unelected commission... not rocket science.
