Rolex expanding its manufacturing plants and now owning retail space is good when the market is good. In a prolonged down market it can be very bad, tons of fixed costs. Disney owns much of movie industry assets, they too have tons of fixed costs.

The Golden eclipse is underrated. Trump is shown wearing an original version Blue dial with bracelet. I have an early White Gold Blue dial with normal lugs.Stainless Steel version was also available. Later iterations in different versions available as well, as you know. Good job spotlighting a little talked about and relatively affordable Gem in the watch world.

Omega have made great watches in the past. Models such as the Omega Speedmaster Professional (Man on the Moon), Speedmaster Mark II, DeVille, Railmaster, and Worldtimer are all good models. The price point however is far more than comparative models from competitive brands. Most of the watch competition comes from Longines, Tudor, Breitling, Frederique Constant, and Grand Seiko. Those watches are far less than he price tag for Omega watches.

Interestingly, the Seiko 6306 movement also has a hacking lever where the 6309 is the same movement with the hacking lever removed, assumably to save money when producing the Turtle in a greater quantity for the international market. Regarding vintage Omega, the Constellation is a good choice for because they are less generic than vintage Seamaster, Geneve, and De Ville which can be a bigger minefield of frankenwatches.

The watch community also uses the term "neo-vintage" for watches that were produced roughly between the mid-1980s and 2000. Of course, neo-vintage watches will be considered vintage with time. Like many, I started with modern watches but when I found myself buying a lot of heritage reissues and other vintage-style watches, I started looking into vintage-first with vintage Seiko and eventually vintage Swiss watches. Vintage watches are a scary minefield for many collectors but once I became comfortable and more educated about vintage watches, I now primarily buy vintage or neo-vintage.

I wear dress watches in most situations where I know I will not be near a lot of water or will be doing any strenuous activity. I work from home and I like the feeling of a small manual-wind precious metal watch on my wrist while I am in front of the computer. I have divers, beaters, and other more casual watches but those are mostly worn when I go outside.

Its like look expensive or feel expensive cause even if you are wearing a seiko worth 5k people will think its a cheap watch and a rolex copy will look more expensive to people its all in the mind
