Nov 2024---2 thumbs up! I spent 5 minutes this weekend, plus the afternoon, BUT... 7-year-old Twin Grandsons are riding their bikes like "pros". The method works. They can now push the pedals to get going, keep pushing the pedals to stay going, and use the brake pedals to stop, all by themselves. Top complaints when we first started: "My bicycle doesn't work because it doesn't have a kickstand, the pedals don't turn the right way, the handlebars make my hands hurt, the brake doesn't work, the steering "wheel" is broken, the road has too much "ramp",...(the road has a slight slop near the curbs), this part of the road has bumps, there is a stick on the road, it's too hard. It all boiled down to overcoming the fear of falling. EVERY SINGLE fear and complaint magically vanished as soon as it clicked and they started riding.
I know some people were saying this didn’t work, just tried this with my son, and he rode his bike on the third try all the way to the neighbor’s house by himself. Worked for us
Really glad you made this into a tutorial. I'd love to see more of this type of work going up, but it's very hard to find people who know how to do it. Really enjoyed watching.
I'm sure that's his son and he's right though we didn't grow up with a helmet and we still learned just fine. I will definitely air on the side of caution with my son and make sure he wears a helmet. I watched to see his teaching method not his helmet reccomendation.
@@maliridleymr didn't use the safety equipment for my kids either. But the whole asking are you ready is a bunch of BS. Everything else that he tries to teach you the teacher kids was absolutely ridiculous. I was trying a different method for my daughter tried this one. Went back to the old way to say the least.
His rough approach is hilarious to me these days. Old school! This technique really works. If you think about it. What really stops kids from doing anything. Are they ready? Huge! And the feeling of what to expect. To know it's normal and they can control it. We were all kids once. This worked exactly as he makes it to be. My daughter who is fearless in thought but gives up quickly. She was riding a bike like a natural within 10 minutes. And both of our smiles lasted all day. Life is a balance in every aspect!
Lost me on the “Do you think you need a helmet.” Yes, leave it up to the 8 year old to judge the safety…one fall the wrong way and he’ll be feeding that kid through a tube for the rest of his life. Is it really such a big deal to wear head protection? Does it make you less of a man? What an idiot.
The haters/nay-sayers in the comments are wrong. I have taught 2 of my daughters, the first at age 8, and the second at age 7, using this method, and it absolutely works, and works extremely fast. Within 5 minutes, they were cruising about 50 feet at a time. Within another 5 minutes, they were fully starting, stopping, and turning all on their own, all over the park. There are some extra tips that can help: make sure they can just barely reach the ground with the balls of their feet. If the seat is any lower, they can't get enough power to peddle fast enough to keep balanced. If the seat is any higher, they can't adequately catch themselves and they'll feel too afraid. Also, if you can teach them on a VERY SLIGHT decline, this helps give them a slight extra speed boost to help with balance. Do this a few times before moving on to level ground and then eventually a slight incline, as their strength builds. Also, coaster breaks and single gear bikes are slightly lighter and much simpler for when they're just getting started. Gear shifts and hand breaks can be too complicated at first. Just keep it simple, until they really get the hang of it. And make sure the chain is well lubricated, the tires are properly inflated, and the handle bar is tight. Give them every possible mechanical advantage.
Mountain biked for 30 yrs, including trails, and even worked on top of aircraft for 20. Never needed a helmet. I don't ride on the street and barely fall on my knee and elbow pads. Do you drive with a helmet on? Yet more people have had head injuries in cars than bicycles. Your kids don't need them, because they shouldn't be on the road. They build more confidence. Parents should be putting helmets on their own kids at the playgrounds, yet I never see it.
My mom was a nurse in Boston. The amount of people she saw that ended up with permanent brain damage due to not wearing a helmet is staggering. Bragging about not wearing a helmet makes you sound really ignorant. I bet you’re an anti-vaxer too.
Thank you for this video. We have been trying to teach my daughter how to ride for over a year. I never thought to teach her the basics of how to catch yourself from falling over. I let her practice catching herself as I leaned her over to one side on the bike a few times. Within 20 minutes she was zooming up and down the driveway with a huge grin on her face.
POV:a random guy about 60 just comes up to ur kid and saying hey can u ride a bike like they are not random kids there prob like his child and there friends duhhh
My daughter, 6.5, has been struggling since we took the training wheels off. THIS VIDEO WORKED! She is now riding her two wheeler and it was within 15-20 minutes of these exercises!! Thank you! !

Very interesting!
wow! amazing work and great tutorial!
Keep it up!
As a daughter of a mother that had a severe head injury while riding a bike and knowing how to ride a bike is plain stupid to suggest no helmet.
its because the kid isnt going to go that fast to have any injury
@@bendizpyro wrong sir. It doesn’t take much!

This worked. I am an overly large blind single mother.

It worked with my 6,5 year old daughter perfectly well. Did everything just like you presented, and she learned to ride within 5 minutes.

Doesn’t work with daughters 😂
NOPE!!!😂

Does a helmet help prevent brain injuries? Yes. Does wearing a helmet impair riding a bike? No
I would never ever encourage a child to ride a bike without a helmet.
bro yall are weak ive been riding bike and bicycle from the age of 6 no helmet.
thanks
i dont think it did
This surprisingly worked!!
are you sure about that
@@Hannielreacts confirmed!

I tried this with my daughter and she fell
worked on both kids when they were barely 5 yo, thanks!
It worked! Pretty amazing.
very cool 😊
Don't know if this is a joke, but I had a lot of fun watching the video and literally took me 5 min to have my son riding!
Is this a joke
they already know how to ride a scooter - that's the whole secret - everything else is just a logical consequence

My daughter just learned how to ride using you method Yesterday. It took no longer than 5 minutes. So thank you man
Always wear a helmet 👍
Would you wear a helmet walking downstairs or jogging?
@@TheWandererTiles perfect logic and proof that you didnt wear a helmet during multiple falls
