Cybertruck Model Unboxing - Watch to the end!
I received an XHD diecast model of the Cybertruck for Christmas and thought I’d make unboxing video. it’s a well-built well proportioned model, and the finish is really good, but there’s one thing that I just can’t get over.

Did u put 2016 seats in a 2014? If so what is needed I been wanting to do that
@@Sparkn22z I did! Good on you for noticing…. However, I would not recommend. I had to disable my sunroof (there is a long technical answer for it) but def don’t recommend.
@@backshopelectric I sent an email
Hi, nice video. I’m planning to do the same thing to place the seat in a racing simulator. How hard it would be to control the lombar support, would it just be two more pairs of wires or does it need any kind of connectivity with the car?
@@krankertigaz I did open the back of the seats up but did not spend any real effort in figuring that particular thing out. It appeared to me that it was operated by an air pump, which would require understanding of when to turn it on when to turn it off and how to let the air out. Sorry, but I haven’t gotten into that part.
@@backshopelectric thanks for the reply. I’m asking because the bmw seats have some kind of module in it, so we can’t operate using the buttons on the side unless we hack the module or go directly into the motor wire. If the air pump is able to operate just on power I think it should work fine, just need to find the right pairs of wires…
@@krankertigaz and figure out how to deflate it
Thank you so much for your hard work and sharing. Disassembling the Tesla while enjoying the air conditioning is really satisfying. I also removed and cleaned the front storage compartment of Center Console and replaced the two Type A ports in the back with Type C ports.
I've had both and prefer the yacht floor. Like the convenience and utility. Make a quick trip to the supermarket and you can toss a bag full of groceries in the console instead of walking to and opening the trunk and walking back to the drivers seat.
Thanks for the video. When removing the seats from the seat rails, is there a nut underneath? My torx bit keeps spinning freely.
You should get Model S 2024 front seat and get some cooling :D
Thanks for the video guide! Just completed this on my 2016 S. I managed to find a complete console on eBay for £161 ($208) and it took me about 4 hours to complete. It’s changed the car for me and now have 6 cup holders instead of 2 which is super handy and some much needed storage. I didn’t disassemble the console except for removing the side panels and bottom vent housing to get to the cable Obstacles for me were the splice as I didn’t take out the cigarette lighter but red to red worked fine. Also as I didn’t take the seats out I put the side trims of the console on before reinstalling which I then had to pop off to reinstall the kick panels. I’m so glad I found this video as I had ordered the taptes but this was much cheaper and better solution.
Is it possible to get newer one like 2023 console in 2018 model S
Can you sell me one of these power car seat office chair ?
@@umesh082 I’m sorry, this is just a how to video.
Do you think a 2016-2020 model x center console would fit it? They look exactly the same like the one you installed , I seen it on ebay and really want the cup holder and extra USB connections in the back for my 2015 model s p85d
@@dreamkiss4u Check the Tesla Electronic Parts Catalog to see if the part numbers match. If they do, I would think you are good to go
@backshopelectric I tried to figure out how to use the tesla parts catalog but I can't understand it.... I'm only able to use my mobile right now so it's confusing to use it... can I link you to the part on ebay maybe you can help me out with it?. I asked the guy it's like a automotive parts seller and he was starting to tell me but I guess his boss said he can't suggest things because what if it don't end up working for me then they will have an issue... but he was saying it should work at first.... can I link you to the part?
What ever happen to your videos for your tesla? They suddenly stopped and I was waiting for lots more .... like the dash camera and possibly others.
Unfortunately, family and my full time job have taken quite a hit onto my personal time to make these videos. Thanks for checking back as I do intend to start back up when time allows.
@backshopelectric yeah I get it I'm the same way but I build and do tons of things but just don't have the time to turn it into a TH-cam video and content, tho if I dedicate my time to creating I'm sure it would become into a way of living and earning . Hope your able to do more videos, oh and I'm going to try and do that refresh front console as well I do want the chup holders also
@@dreamkiss4u I know the feeling! Best of luck on the center console upgrade. Keep an eye out on eBay. I see them for sale there every now and again. Thanks for stopping by!
@backshopelectric I'm just nervous lol, I have a 2015 tesla model s and don't really fully know what years and models would fit it
@@dreamkiss4u I think the center consoles from the 2016.5-2020 (pre-plaid era) should be the same.
Hi! Is It necessory to remove the front seats or is it possible to change the console seats in place? Do you know are those armrest pads detachable?
You can do this with the seats in place. The arm rest pads are attached to the center console by two nuts each on the underside of the top console assembly. I have seen others simply pry them off but I wouldn’t recommend that. Good luck!

I acquired a discarded passenger seat from a Model 3 for the purpose of making it a computer chair. I didn't want to reinvent the wheel, so looked up others that had since the same thing and can't across this video and the file with measurements. Very helpful.
What size star bit do you need to remove the rail Thanks :)
Thanks bro, I was able to get my Juul
Wish someone would sell me one. Unable to build one myself.
Do you sale these? I’d love to have a black model 3/Y seat.
How interchangeable are the newer gen seats, with the 1st gen seats?
1st Gen to next gen is pretty straight forward. Any seat after that takes significant wiring mods and software changes that I do not recommend attempting. I haven’t had luck retaining full functionality when trying to upgrade.
Thank you
So you just bring the old console wiring over without any modifications unless you want to power the rear USB ports?
Yessir
Looks like crap
Where can i buy car seats?
The best place to looks are either Tesla forums, eBay or FB marketplace.
How much for a dent the size of a quarter?
At the time the rate was $100 a panel.
W chair! I only need $900 for this.....
Definitely a cool project! I was able to use the Model 3 seat and a broken Steelcase Leap base to make the office chair, while retaining full functionality of the motors. I wired a 12v rechargeable battery, and third party switches, but it's one of my favorite seats to sit in
Awesome! Do you have a link to the switches?
@@backshopelectric I went with generic Momentary Polarity Reverse Switches from Amazon and 3d printed a trim panel to make it look more polished, since the original switches would require the car in order to function correctly
Hi ,is there a way to Install the Interior ambiant Lights ( colored ) , arround the doors , trim etc ? like Audi, or Mercedes
Yes, kits online
Thanks for this, superb video work and editing, picture saves 1,000 words a good video 10,000!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video! Is there a way to use the new ('21-) Model S center console with the rear screen in a 1st gen Model S???
I honestly don’t know, if you find a video, you can link it here :)
two questions: why not to invest a little bit more and have your chair warmed and adjusted when needed by having it plugged in? secondly, how hard will it be to defuse the airbag you keep sitting on and waiting for it to be triggered?
These are good questions. There is a viewer that is working on the side switches for adjustment. I do not have the technical data for control of the heat strips and am not certain what amperage load that would be required to not burn batteries up, or where I could store a battery of any substantial size without making the chair super clunky. In reference to the air bag, the firing mechanism requires too much voltage to fire by accident. I felt comfortable enough to leave it in the video with the caution in the unlikely event the viewer did not follow all of the directions or attempted to put power on a part of the seat at some point prior to working on it.
Seat removal video ?
Good content. Was wondering have you ever tried fitting a 2021+ yoke wheel into a 2020 model S?
Thanks for watching! I’m sorry but I haven’t had that opportunity yet.
Hi Steve, bumped into your video while searching for how to power a power seat out of the car. I have a Model 3 seat that I want to attach to my simulation rig. I want to retain all of its electric adjustments to keep it "compatible" with the family. I want to use the original controls of the seat to make adjustments. Do I have to power all the motors individually? How can I connect the ah H-bridge connector to the actual controls? Thank you
Did you ever solve this? Thinking about doing the same. Doesn't seem like anyone has been able to figure out how to retain factory switched though.
Which is the power and which is ground on that 12v power socket (cigarette lighter)? I was thinking I’d use that to tap into for switched power, but not sure which is which.
If remember correctly, the outer cylinder should be the ground and the point at the end should be +12VDC. Make sure you double check this with a voltmeter before doing it though.
Thanx for this video! Did the same upgrade to my P85 the other day, had that damn music stuck in my mind as I assembled the thing 😂
After reinstalling your seat, did you have to calibrate the seat or do anything with the firmware? I am seeing this in the Tesla Service manual. Just wondering if its needed
I did not recalibrate the seat or reload any firmware and everything seems to work normally.
Anyone has the wiring diagram? How do I know which wire is for which motor? Thanks
The wires you are looking for are described in the video, but you can find the wiring diagram at service.tesla.com/service-subscription

High Steve, great video. I have been wanting to do this for over a year now when I got to sit in one and thought it would make a very comfortable gaming chair. Thanks to my job and making friends with one of the parts guys at Tesla, I was recently able to get my hands on one they were getting rid of and saw my opportunity to make it happen. Just a couple of days ago I came across your video and how you went about it. I must say, you did a way better job than I was planning. And thanks to the reply you gave to Ant RodZ, I used the address you provided to him to ask the same question. Either way, thanks to your video because now I can make this happen.

Thanks! I ordered the Ocenas kit for my 2015. I want to add the LED strips, but without a link I am unsure what to look for and how to purchase them. Your trunk is how it should have been from the factory!
😂 Engine sounds in an EV!
Had to replace the passenger side seat from my PM3 so I told Tesla Service I wanted Ti keep the old seat with the thought of turning it into an office chair. That’s how I found your channel. 🥳 Now I have a super sweet office chair. My mistake was having my Wife try it out. Now she wants one for her office. I told her the next time a fault in the seat that can’t be fixed comes up… she’ll get one too. 😅 Charge On Peeps 🤓🤘⚡️🏎️💨
Forgot to mention. I’m thinking of adding power to it using a 12v cordless tool battery. Did you already deem that as not possible or not worth it and that’s why it isn’t in the video?
The switch pack needs to be replaced. Another viewer made a custom switch pack so it is possible to require the seat, but I don’t have the ability to do that yet.
Haven’t finished the video yet but another reason not to use the UMC is that the wall connector charges faster. The UMC for my PM3 peaks at 32 amps while my wall connectors are capable of 80 amp max. The Model 3 is limited to 48 amps much like the newest WiFi wall connectors. The 80 amps is more for the older Model S and perhaps X (not sure about the X) as their peak was 80 amps. I don’t think any of them charge at that peak anymore but it is nice that all of my wall connectors are using the same 100 amp circuit instead of previous EV home chargers I’ve had. Each of them required their own circuit which, along with a generator bypass inlet, TVSS, AFCI & GFCI breakers, fills your electrical panel up very quickly. Charge On Peeps 🤓🤘⚡️🏎️💨
As much as I'd like to copy this in my '13 P85, I imagine it's much more expensive than the insert you mentioned. Problem is, I'm having trouble finding one. Got any links to finding the insert style? I'm new to Tesla but someone with more experience might know a good web link or two.
You’ll have to find one from a third party seller. I recommend looking on eBay
Can you show me how to adjust the seats? Mine are rubbing against the center console
Where are they rubbing? The seat may rest against the seat, however, if the seat doesn't move much, it likely will not cause any damage. Best of luck!
@@backshopelectric the seats back side support are rubbing against the arm support of the center console. I think i need to make some adjustment to the seat so there is a bigger gap
