Black didn't miss mate in two. Black was losing for most of the game.

Because if he took the knight with the king then white would play qxe6. The queen is protected by the bishop so king can't take the queen after qxe6. If king moves back to e8 or f8 then qf7 is checkmate. If king moves to g6 then the king isn't going to survive too long on that square.

Yes it is. It's not a very common checkmating pattern at all. It's not everyday you see a king get checkmated by a knight on h8. The rook, bishop and knight coordinate perfectly together.
