    9:15 Curious if there is any reason for the necessity to segregate the species? I typically place human rights first and foremost with the intention being that what’s good for the species & the only known source of life in the universe currently, is the top priority to guide any societal expectations or laws. In nature we are societal creatures in need of structure to guide us in that, but what does the species gain by segregating its self by sex organs? Of those gains, what is done that is oppressive to the population and are the benefits worth selling people out? This leads into individual rights to profit being protected above the human needs of the species including our environment. Legalized greed to sell needs. Sorry I am fascinated with all of this.

    My main concern is that you're gonna start saying something like "penises are socially constructed" like no you just have one or you don't like. A penis is not socially constructed it's just something that you biologically have. Sex is biological and determined by different sex characteristics. I.e Hormones, genetalia, and chromosomes. If you have a penis and XY chromosomes that means you're male. If you have XY chromosomes and you don't have a penis then you're intersex. I do believe that gender is a spectrum and I believe that sex is a spectrum but do I believe that sex is a social construct? That's very difficult for me. When you say sex is a social construct you're basically saying that people made it up. Did people make up penises? No they were born with them. Did people make up XY chromosomes? No they were born with them. Did people make up testosterone? No people were born with testosterone. Now does everyone with xy chromosomes have high levels of testosterone? No. But that's why they're intersex not male. And just because somebody doesn't know their chromosomes doesn't mean that sex is socially constructed and if you don't know what year's chromosome are you should get that tested. You shouldn't use people not knowing what their chromosomes are as an excuse to claim that sex is socially constructed. And yes race is a social construct but that's because at the time we didn't know ethnicity was a thing. We didn't know that different people had different DNA that made up their ethnicity. we didn't know that back then. But also racism obviously. So I don't think it's really fair to compare Race to sex. As far as I'm concerned sex IS BIOLOGICAL. Now if you mean sex aa in "the sex binary" I would agree that that the sex binary is a social construct Because sex isn't actually binary. But would I say someone having a penis is a social construct no they are just born with a penis. I get the impression that you're conflating sex with gender. Sex and gender are different things they are not the same. And if they're both socially constructed how are they not the same. Explain that to me cause that doesn't make sense. You can't have both ways. Is either one or the other. It's either one of them is socially constructed And other 1 is not and they are different. Or both of them are socially constructed and they are the same thing. But this also makes me think that maybe you're conflating the sex binary with sex in general as they are different things.

    Furthermore, since a social construct is based off a framework of ideas, then you'd have to know the definitions of an idea, would you not? Because ideas encompasses a broad spectrum of things which have various definitions. Social constructs ignore the influence of innate biological tendencies it appears. I'd love to hear your definition of what a social construct is exactly, because I think we're looking at different definitions here.

  • @CharlesDaniel7114

    The behaviours associated with men vs women consist of several variables. Culture, sex, mentality, society, individual feeling toward something, religion, etc. Understanding this is understanding that we are all different, especially on a cognitive level. On a physical level, men and women are certainly different. Simple observation will tell you this. The combination of variables and obvious physical differences influence characteristics given to certain sex. Gender is definitely a social construct. Gender is a linguistic term. Sex is a physical phenomenon. Gender is derived from the word "sex" because gender describes characteristics based on the 2 sexes, male and female. Sex, on the other hand is a word used to describe two things that can reproduce in nature. Male and female. A social construct is an idea that has been created and accepted by people in a society. So, sex cannot be a social construct. For example, take the idea of a social construct. We invented that term and we invented it long after animals were procreating on earth, so the idea itself came after creatures were reproducing. Meaning, procreation was around before the notion of a social construct even existed, therefore it cannot be a social construct.

    Why does race include what a society currently thinks? Race is purely about the physical characteristics and how they themselves identify , what society thinks now is different from what society used to think. That doesn’t mean someone can change race just because society ‘constructs’ a different belief.

    • @___Truth___
      @___Truth___ ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually does mean someone can change Race because society does construct a different belief of who or what is in a particular Race over the years/generations. Take the different Races categorized by the US Census now, versus the races categorized by the US Census in the 1850s. Completely different where some Ethnicities got included into some Races while others are/were put into different Categories.

    Gender can't be socially constructed and how an individual feels at the same time. If gender is socially constructed then you can't self identify your own gender. If you were arguing that your gender is based solely on how you feel, then gender can't be a social construct. Gender is a social behaviour based on your sex. It can be slightly different in different parts of the world, but they are all a product of hormone exposure attributed to your biological sex.

    Small Gametes vs Large Gametes. Male bodies are structured to produce small gametes and female bodies are structured to produce large gametes. Doesn't en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Reimer serve as a direct counter example to your claims? Why do you not include any information regarding what we know about sex development in utero? And finally I see exactly zero citations for any of these claims? Why is that? Reach out if you would like to discuss why these things are important in detail. Maybe we'll both learn something?

    Clothes, colours, customs change. What doesn't change is biology -chromosomes. If aliens come to earth and use scientific approach to analyse human species they will come up with some objective -very obvious conclusions. Like: Different societies develop different cultures, different social constructs. But what they all have in common, just like being bipedal or mammal....homo sapiens is sexually reproducing BINARY species. Intersex ? Not only that you're using outliers (that prove the rule) to disprove the rule, those ppl. are usually still one or the other, a man (with micro penis) or a woman. (with enlarged c.) Besides you're using medical condition, abnormality as if deformity is just another sex /gender. It's bonkers.

  • @Aleksamson
    @Aleksamson ปีที่แล้ว

    Trans people have always existed around the world and different cultures came up with different name for the 3rd gender. That doesn't change the fact that all societies in the world have two genders -since forever. Non binary fluid nonsense (unlimited number of nobody knows how many genders) is recent social construct of the western world.

    You attach a lot of unsoported ideas to the fact that race is a social construct and skin color isnt meaningful. The idea that skin color was used as a means to claim superiority rather than more advance technology being used to claim superiority. Or that modern institutions are an extension of slavery. There is a huge difference between stating that race is a social construct, and adding all the stuff that CRT adds on it. The only way we know to fight a social construct is making people aware of it, and asking people to act on that knowledge. In the case of race we should ask people to act based on the believe that race don´t exist. Trying to be color blind. We should inmmediatly stop any and all positive discrimination based on race, as having policy acting on a social construct direcly impedes people being able to act trying to be color blind. Positive discrimination is like treating some of the symptoms but perpetuating the root of the problem. CRT would present the opposite conclusion, so your talk isn´t really about race being a social construct, your talk is about CRT.

    I take issue with the "socially agreed upon" aspect. It implies a society of equal autonomous individuals but that has not been the case in the times which these concepts actually derive from. They are results of tradition which is not agreed upon and implies an hierarchical non-indivualistic society. This whole theory therefore is not based on observation. It's not descriptice but prescriptive.

    Gender is a social construct based off of the stereotypes and artifacts that we associate with how someone appears physically and how they dress. I’m a woman, but I can assure you that if I had short hair, it would likely be hard for people to tell my gender. I’m also tough in personality and like to do hard work. That is my example. Biology is not binary, either. Whilst we focus on reproductive organs to decide on someone’s sex, there are people born with hermaphroditism. And everyone’s organs are different. Oftentimes it’s even hard to determine biological sex based on someone’s face! I’m a female, but I have a very “masculine” jawline and lots of upper body strength.

    • @blue24563
      @blue24563 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with this logic is it doesn’t change the fact of biological binary sex. All humans are either male or female. Adult human males are called ‘men’. Adult human females are called ‘women’. It is your biology that makes you a woman, not the perception of other people. The socially constructed side of gender is mostly for us to display our sex to each other clearly and to attract others. Furthermore, there is no hermaphroditism in humans. I think are referring to ‘intersex’. In the case of this tiny minority of people, mostly they still manifest as either male or female, but it is essentially a deformity between the two sexes, not a third sex type.
