09 legacy and put hid kit in. Boxes are similar and that spot says drl rear and is empty???
Thanks for the easy fix. Passing for info that I found on the fog light wiring in the comments on the fog light video.
Put the same kit in my 2012 Legacy. Popped the whole bumper off to do it and found that the subaru factory wire harness already has pigtails for fog lights tape under the headlights. After doing some research I was able to wire the switch from the kit into the factory harness. Clean up the ends on the pigtails. Surprised the salt didn't eat them. Put a relay in the factory spot and they work just like factory. They only come on when the headlights are on and turn off with the high beams as they should. All you have to do pop off the panels to get to the underside of the steering column to get to the plug for the turn signal. There will be one side with a black wire and a 5 other colored wires that control turn signal, parking and high/low lights. The other side had one colored wire off to the side and a black and white in the center. Can't remember all the colors but that doesn't matter because it the black and white in the center that control the fog lights if equit. I spliced the switch from the kit into those wires and everything works fine. Even the fog light indicator light on the dash works. Just didn't wire the the light in on the switch because it doesn't match. Not sure if doing so would cause any problems. Found your videos looking how to turn off my daytimes so I can run just my halos instead. But still have high beam. Thank you for the info on the easy swap out the relay fix. Figured I'd pass this info your way.
We can hear u well
just did this.switch wires are close to were you were.wrapped in a reddish tape.relay was next to the heater blower motor by glove box.wouldnt have found it however without watching this thank you I learned something.great video.i apologize for my last post
wasted 18 minutes to hear wiring is done.dont waste your time...
It's installing a kit, not making the wiring harness... Not sure what you expect for a bolt in type video.
It looks like a ball joints falling off the Beaver dam golf cart
This my next mod along with a new lip , also apple car play with new speakers and I’ll add my two 12” rocksforge fosgates
So I have a 13 legacy 3.6r and I’m doing all my light replacement hi/lo and fog light to a 3000k led . Have you rewired your fog lights to be drl yet ?
So rather than wire them in to turn on/off automatically, I have mine on their own circuit and keep them on all the time.
@@rustcountrygarageok cool I might have to try something soon those legs are definitely making some ppl mad lol
Running fog lights as drl is something I wanna do
I replaced 5 prong relay with the relay above but did not work. My Outback is 2009, any ideas?
It looks like the relay switch out that I did only works on the 4th generation outback. 2009 is a third Gen outback. I can't find much for the 3rd gens, but this forum post might be helpful. There is mention of cutting a wire or removing the pin in a harness, so I'd say use caution and try these at your own risk www.subaruoutback.org/threads/2005-2009-drl-deactivation-simple.53206/
Thanks mate! Appreciate your help.@@rustcountrygarage
where did you buy the lights? i want two for my subaru 2019 impreza hachtback
I got the kit off Amazon. Looks like the brand sells for quite a few models and is called AutoWiki.
I get flashed all the time too lol, did you have fun putting the low beams in? What a oain in the ass, i finally paid a garage to do it and they even bitched about it
I pulled the entire headlight out to do the low beams. They are a nightmare to do otherwise
Damn you should’ve just access it thru wheel well way better lol
I can't get the dust cap on for the life of me lol
@@rustcountrygarage trust me I know, Subaru had me saying all types of words trying to get to those bulbs. At one point I wanted to give up. I actually need to do my highs and fog lights and I really feeling discouraged 😂
@@TerpCrazythat was the first and only thing I tried because everyone said that's the best way, I couldn't get my arm in there very far and fight with the short ass wires, I tried like 3 times, the garage I had do it even bitched about it lol, I paid $140 for the low beams that are in it so they better last a very very long time
Is this a legacy?
Yep, 2013 Legacy
@@rustcountrygarage cool, thinking about adding fog lights to my 05 legacy
Perfect, same car as mine and I'm pretty sure that's the same exact kit, I didn't know it had the wiring harness so I now have an extra
Where did you get your components?
Amazon. I'm genuinely impressed as I haven't had any issues yet with this considering it's a no name brand: www.amazon.com/dp/B0CH34NT2Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Thanks that really helps me out 😊
