Here is the story of song. "Her father, Murat Çelik, was a hardworking man. His daughter had an incurable illness, and I was going to Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty to support her struggle and meet with doctors. One day, I was in the doctors' room, and one of the doctors came up to me and said, 'Mr. Haluk, you need to let this girl go.' My musician friend Emrah Aydoğdu was with me. Emrah said, 'The word “Elfida” in Ottoman Turkish means a woman who is let go.' It might not have been the exact meaning, but as a concept, it fit perfectly. We hugged and cried together. I truly loved Beyzanur. I sat down and wrote the song. My dear friend Emrah Aydoğdu contributed his best and helped refine the lyrics. Ömer Faruk Güney also composed the music. In this way, during Beyzanur's final days, I was singing this song to her, but she didn’t know it was about her. She thought it was about someone named Elfida. Of course, she was just a little girl at the time, around 8 years old. During that period, my companies had gone bankrupt. The lyrics, 'Don't leave marks on my shoulders; my burden is already close to the world,' were meant to express this: 'I’m already burdened with the weight of the world. Beyzacığım, please, at least you don’t leave me.' The line about 'arms that haven’t been embraced for centuries' referred to this: Her parents were on duty day and night. Due to Beyzanur's fragility and her condition in the hospital bed, they couldn’t hug her. I never saw them embrace her. Beyzanur always had rainy eyes. She was trying to hold on to life. During that time, I gave a concert in Bakırköy for the hospital staff so they would take good care of Beyzanur. That night, Beyzanur was transferred to another facility, and we lost her. After we lost Beyzanur, I asked her parents, 'You’ve been by Beyzanur’s side for so long. Yes, we lost our daughter, but please, consider having another child.' A year later, they called me and said, 'Haluk Abi, we’re expecting a baby.' I said, 'Name her Elfida.' That Elfida is probably 8 or 9 years old now and is attending school. She carries her sister's name. I didn’t want to use this song for commercial purposes, nor did I allow others to. It was something else entirely. I didn’t want another 'Akdeniz Akşamları' disaster. You know, 'Akdeniz Akşamları' is actually a magnificent song. It tells the story of that era, but it’s been sung so much that we’ve lost the emotional connection to it. I didn’t want Elfida to turn into that. It was such a special song. But while I was abroad, the song was given to a musician in Ankara without my knowledge. I was very upset and angry. The family called me, and I apologized profusely. It was truly out of my control. They were understanding, and we decided not to give the song to anyone else from that point forward."
